Here's what it's about, straight from the writer: Matt said about the meaning of Knights of Cydonia: "There is this feeling of waking up and trying to fight back, or it’s time to actually try and change yourself and the things that are going on around you. Meaning of the song: Taking its cues from Mariachi bands and the 'Doctor Who' theme tune, the track sounds like a soundtrack to a spaghetti western set in the far reaches of the galaxy and features a chain-smoking trumpeter called Franco. The intro features sounds of horses neighing and galloping, as well as laser guns firing. The track begins and ends in the key of E minor. I think it’s the strength of the human spirit fighting against the forces that are manipulating it." Chris has described the song as "40 years of rock history in six minutes". and Chris also said: "When we wrote 'Knights,' we were listening to a lot of Morricone and stuff like Dick Dale, surf stuff like that. Plus lots of fairly ridiculous '70s stuff too. When we started it, we decided to be quite open going into it. We knew we wanted to do something different." Howard: Matt was at the back of the bus in Arizona, repeating the jerky riff to death, outside we could see the desert rolling...all that went very well together. Galloping horses, Texas, trumpets etc. We wanted to depict a journey, to make it sound like Joe Meek. [ Source: www.musewiki.org/Knights_of_Cydonia_(song) ] Also, fun fact: Cydonia the name of a region on Mars that from above kinda looks like a human face.

The intro features sounds of horses neighing and galloping, as well as laser guns firing. The track begins and ends in the key of E minor.
Matt said about the meaning of Knights of Cydonia: "There is this feeling of waking up and trying to fight back, or it’s time to actually try and change yourself and the things that are going on around you. I think to me that’s very optimistic, this strength [...] at the end of “Knights of Cydonia,” when I’m just saying, “No one is going to take me alive” and all that kind of stuff. I think it’s the strength of the human spirit fighting against the forces that are manipulating it."
Chris has described the song as "40 years of rock history in six minutes". and Chris also said: "When we wrote 'Knights,' we were listening to a lot of Morricone and stuff like Dick Dale, surf stuff like that. Plus lots of fairly ridiculous '70s stuff too. When we started it, we decided to be quite open going into it. We knew we wanted to do something different."
Howard: Matt was at the back of the bus in Arizona, repeating the jerky riff to death, outside we could see the desert rolling...all that went very well together. Galloping horses, Texas, trumpets etc. We wanted to depict a journey, to make it sound like Joe Meek.

Also, fun fact: Cydonia the name of a region on Mars that from above kinda looks like a human face.
So glad you made it to Muse! One of my Top 5 best live shows I've been to, thrice! Great 3 piece. Tons of talent. Matt is a smart guy. His musical themes are always epic. Hysteria, Time Is Running Out, and Unintended turned me on to them.
I’ve seen Muse live 3 times so far, 4 times with a show in April and I get CHILLS every single time Matt Bellamy could just stand there and sing “ooooooo ooooooooo ooooooo” in that beautiful voice of his and I would pay every single time! absolutely underrated band in the US, they’re big but don’t get enough mainstream media attention like they do in other parts of the world astonishing band
Can’t believe you don’t know who Muse is. They are an amazing live band. You need to react to more Muse! ❤️
"The music video for this must be insane."
You have no idea.
I just love Muse and specially how Matt does all of his performances! He really seems to enjoy every moment of it, such a great musician and I just LOVE his perfect voice, he's amazing❤️
React to more Muse
Saw them live on this tour in Chicago....EPIC!!!
This band is power!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
5:53 Jamel’s Muse backup vocal audition😆
Muse is such an awesome band! So many great songs. May I recommend "Stockholm Syndrome", "time is running out" or "Resistance".
Muse is an experience I have been lucky to see in Melbourne 10+ years ago. Amazing. Been with them since the beginning from Monster Museum
Muse is my favorite band.
It's a great reaction!
Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
This is the tune that got me into Muse. I'd heard other tracks before but thought they were overly pompous and up themselves. Hearing this made me realise they were just having fun!
Ahhhhhh!!! MUSE, my favorite band! Own ALL their albums. Had this and their other recorded live shows because i wasn’t able to see them live but made no difference highly enjoyed it. They’re lineup remains the same since 94. Love their mix of rock with classical music and theyre progressively been adding more futuristic sounds in their music. I can go on and on about them but ill just stop lol. Enjoy✨
They need to go back to the sound of their first 3 albums . Shit was the best
Listen to as much Muse as you can get into your ears. They've never stopped writing anthems for the eventual revolution
I’m 61 and they are my favorite group & have been since they came out. My son is 33 and also his favorite group but I told him he better not go to another concert, he’s been twice, without his mother. Lol I will not be happy
