    This has been in my family for years. "If the ocean were beer and I was a duck. I'd swim to the bottom and drink my way up. But the ocean's no beer and I'm not a duck. So take shots with me and let's get fucked up"

      Thanks for sharing this! Wise words indeed but not without repercussions we assume.

    I've heard a variation on your longer toast, from a band called the Irish Brigade, that goes like this:
    Here's to the four pillars of friendship: swearin', lyin', stealin', and drinkin'.
    When you swear, swear by your country;
    When you lie, lie with the one you love;
    When you steal, steal away from bad company;
    And when you drink, for God's sake drink with me!
    And there's another toast I like to use a lot, but it will probably only resonate with Americans. It's from the film "Big Trouble in Little China":
    Here's to the Army and Navy, and the battles they have won;
    Here's to America's colors, the colors that never run.
    May the wings of Liberty never lose a feather!

    My grandmother used to let me toast with her every holiday and as she used to say “May your life be as divine as whiskey and wine”

    Most of toasts same meaning as toasts in Ukraine. But Sláinte mostly like “Будьмо!”.
    Thanks for your video and Cheers from Ukraine!

    A saying my Grandpa used to say every holiday beforea meal:
    'Here's to those to wear worn clothes but haven't the means to mend them, To Hell with those with money to spare but haven't the heart to spend it' ...

    To those who love us, may they CONTINUE to love us. And to those who DO NOT love us, may the good Lord turn their hearts. And if He cannot turn their hearts, then let Him turn their ankles so we'll know the bastards at a distance by their LIMPIN'!

      Very true! The story of St. Patrick is a very interesting one and there's much debate surrounding it. We're curious what your take is on this myth.

      @@Flaviar st. Patrick was actually a British born bishop who succeeded at bringing Christianity to the then polytheist Irish natives. Interesting enough he developed his rough attitude after being kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery at 16

      We see you're quite knowledgable when it comes to the Irish Saint!
      Did you by any chance also hear of the theory that he wasn't actually kidnapped but chose to flee to avoid his town council (curia) duties as many others in the same position have done so before? This was called the "flight of the curiales".
