Congratulations and good luck. Beautiful job and well done. I think there’s a rusty beauty in that back corner that’s looking for a little love. Maybe not all that she needs at one time but some attention to keep her happy and waiting. Anna is waiting patiently!

Elin what I did for the battery hold down on my TR4A (as I was also concerned about it contacting the terminals), was to place it on top of the battery. I placed it right on top of the plastic handle that comes with the battery. It holds very tight and no worries about contact.👍

Fantastic result…. worth all the effort and expense.
The only things it is crying out for are…
    1) Some correct earlier black wheel centres
    2) Vents putting in the radiator shroud to get cold air to those funky Weber twin-choke carbs…

Great work, I have restored many cars and motorcycles and it seems like the last 5% of the project requires 15% of the total effort. Kudos to you for taking it to a high level of completion. Cant wait to see what’s next. Finish up the Mazda? Your GT6? Again, well done.

Beautiful looking car, a wonderful restoration Elin. But remember you can only adjust the idle mixture without swapping jets. So plug colour after driving is a bit irrelevant to idle adjustment.

To avoid shorting out the battery with a wrench while removing it, always take the negative side off first (on a negative earth car, reverse for positive earth.)

I’d put the air cleaners on before doing the plug checks because they restrict air flow enough to richen the mixture, particularly when connected to the evaporative canister.

It was bittersweet seeing John head out the driveway in his lovely TR6, but it's time for him to enjoy the car and all the work that has gone into it! 👍

  • @philtucker1224

Yes the mixture screw is just for idle. The main jets can be changed for optimum mixture at normal road speeds of (say) between 2000 and 3000 rpm for instance. (The main jet values are normally numbered on the side of the jets for easy selection).

We Brits know how to design and build a good car, at least we used to. I’m an MG man but even I have to begrudgingly admit that Triumph is a rather wonderful thing. Well done Elin & John. I remember this car making an appearance on the channel back at the place we won’t mention, been quite a journey. Now what about that GT6…..
