    This video gave me so many great creative ideas on my show. After spending many years running my own galleries repping artists I have my first solo art show in Sedona Arizona June 7! I am so excited because I have hosted so many openings for others. This is the first time I'm doing it for me. This video made me even more excited!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! Amazing info as I start preparing for my FIRST solo show! Holy cow! You rock. Mine is already set for a local cafe here in Seattle, but LOVED the idea of renting out a store front (for one of the next ones I will organize) and LOVE the idea to make at least one really trippy interactive piece and superb insight to make it a fun experience for the folks and not focus on selling the pieces, just having a fun experience they walk away from...KUDOS!

    I’m having a pop up show tomorrow 🥰😳☺️🤪🥳🤯🙏💗so I’ve been working like a dog getting everything ready. Thank God I’m OCD so I’m pretty prepared. This is a lot of work. But in a good way. Pricing is the hardest. Then u think “what if I don’t sell anything🤯😳and then u go into a visualization that u sell Tons! It’s like a roller coaster ride. So I’m listening to this again before my show🙏😊wish me luck!😍

Well, they got back to me, they have a actual tenant who is looking for an artist!! but I never done anything like this!!! now I am scared and don't know what to present to them.... as for the coffe shot I am going to see them next friday! man that is so awesome!
    any tips on being a part time artist? I really don't know how to manage my time. I work 40 hours a week in an unrelated field,( but it pays the bills and some) I have an active daughter in a dance company team , have to cook and clean oh yea and my spouse has to fit in there somehow , cant forget about fitting in my exercise too.. ooh and throw in a few school projects that they say is for the kids but the parents spend endless hours " assisting " the child with . Ugh Help I need to feed my soul art and I am dying without it! Plus I love capturing it on camera and putting on YT but lately I have been skipping that part due to the time it takes to edit and upload. Can you feel the stress ? :( time managing video please.

    Hi Rafi! Thanks for this advice, it's really helped me. My exhibition is in Spring 2020, so I am busy building up stock for it. I usually launch my artwork on my website each time I finish a piece. But should I be holding some pieces back to have the element of surprise at the exhibition? Or would you just get it out there to get money in? What do you do?

  • @Zobrisdj01
    @Zobrisdj01 6 років тому +1

    I draw really intricate names with a bunch of my new details. I have 50 + really really good finished pieces that I've put in tens of hours on each my question for you is is there any types of artwork that would be odd to have a show for?

    How long did you wait in your art career before you did a solo art show? I'm really just starting out and painting every day but I don't have enough pieces yet to do one. When I do I want to have one but I'm afraid that no one will come even if I advertise. One thing I realized is that a facebook event garners no attention. I had a small show at a coffee house a year ago before I really found my style but I just put it out on facebook and I had about 6 people come for the opening. It kinda sucked. Like I am kind of introverted like most artists. Is there any guarantee? RSVP? I would be crushed if that happened again. Especially if I did a popup show at an empty storefront and I had a lot of work to fill the place. Thank you in advance. I really like your videos and I am learning a lot from your tips and experience.

    I've decided to really focus on my art - instagram.com/micheal.hensley.art/How essential do you consider exhibitions? I need to build sufficient stock but once I do, should I focus most energy in building an online presence, or build a name through participating in and maybe running my own exhibitions ? I know both are important, so its more 'what would you suggest focusing on initially'.

    THANK YOU for your videos! I've watched a few and you give good advice together with FUN - I like the comments from your wife/lover/girlfriend (?)! I've been in several group shows and only ever done solo Open House where I live and now I've just been offered my first solo exhibition at a local town gallery (owned by local government) here in France where I now live (next year, in 2019 = over a YEAR away = anything can happen before that, no idea what type of art I'll be doing by then, and I could be DEAD!) and I'm absolutely TERRIFIED. I cried after she rang me to tell me: I'm so scared of not having enough good work that goes together (I do so many different things), scared of letting THEM down and letting me down too. Did you ever feel like that? I've got a brain injury and that makes EVERYTHING more complicated and stressful!
    I don't expect you actually have the time to look at our work (your audience) but in case (ever the optimist, silly me) I've put some of my work on my blog (Instagram in progress) here:
    jennyhughesblog.wordpress.com
    All the best to you and thanks again.
