  • We were after the world famous Copper River sockeye salmon the week of June 21st, 2022. We chose to camp at Salmon Grove Campground at 100.5 Old Richardson Highway to fish the Klutina River for reds. Salmon Grove Campground is near the lower bridge between the Richardson Highways - right across the river from Klutina Salmon Charters RV Park, and just down River from the King for a Day RV Park. We attended the Copper Center, Alaska Fireweed Festival, and caught a lot of sockeye salmon! All three campgrounds offer guide services for both king salmon (chinook) as well as sockeye salmon (reds). If you are going to be in the area, watch our video and see if some Klutina River sockeye salmon fishing would be worth it to you!
