- This is part of our South Island caravan MTB tour. This is part one of two of a ride at Middle Hill mountain bike park on the East coast of the south island just North of Kaikoura.
The trails were so good and the location so beautiful we stayed overnight in our caravan at the bike park.

Had to laugh when you said about smoking your brake pads. I did exactly that at Middle Hill. I was tipping water on the discs to cool them down.
Not sure that is recommended but I know what you mean.
Yeah I think its a given especially with shuttles there the elevation and constant runs cooked my pads haha
Glad you did this one. It’s been on my to-do list for ages, but it hasn’t worked out yet. Maybe when I buy a caravan or motorhome? Or organise a trip with the riding mates.

Awesome video Lance that middle hill bike park look awesome not a bad spot.some were different and never heard of the place before. The river and those white rocks definitely look stunning. So looking forward to seeing the second part of the video

Such a great place. been up there a couple of times and keen to get back soon. Skuxxo is so good as are most of the other tracks. Wilde Boars from the top is a fav.
I will definitely come again on another trip.

This video is currently at 13% but they end up usually around 5-6% . Hope that helps. Stats can be quite depressing at times. You make a 20min video and the average view time is 5 minutes some times. A good video for me is when there is lots of comments as that suggests people are more engaged in the video.
What did it cost to stay and ride? I did a similar trip this May but I couldn't squeeze this spot in sadly. Next time.
They are horrendously expensive but those Ecoflow Delta 2 units and similar work well for ebike charging on trips like this. Can recommend.
I think it was $20 to ride and $20 to stay. May look at power options for caravan in the future.

How do you go about charging your bikes while you're touring in the caravan?
On days like this video we can't. The rest of the time we are on a powered site.
Are you planning to head to signal hill in Dunedin?
Doesn't look like we will make that on this trip. Had a few hic ups along the way.
That's a shame. You should try and get here at some point. The trails have had a tonne of work recently including a rebuild of the jumps track which is a bit beyond my paygrade, but which might be up your alley. But that aside, it's just a great ride, wonderful forest and trails in the heart of the city. @@bestdayevermtb2
I met some guys at the Motatapu who told me about Dunedin but just running out of time.

You are not wrong. You are not going to like the ride I did today. Double blacks at Alexander on my own. I must admit that was a bit stupid.
