i was born in 83. i met mookie wilson as a small child on westchester square in the bronx at some store. He signed autographs, and I no more than 5-6 wrote a letter to Gary Carter and asked Mookie to give it to him. He did. (which is awesome by itself). Gary read my letter, sent me back 4 or 5 baseballs signed two video tapes 1 in particular i wore out called think big. he sent photos signed to me, hand wrote a personal letter responding to things i wrote in my letter which according to my mother was rough due to my age. nothing in my life has meant more to me or is more sentimental than that.
Born in 83. Moved to Westchester Square from Ireland in the fall of 86. First memories here are of the Mets uniforms on tv. That’s a great story. Carter was awesome.
Gary Carter was my favorite Baseball player and i patterned my game after his as a kid. I wish i could have thanked him in person for an autograph he sent to me when i was 14. He had no idea how much it meant to a poor kid from Queens. ❤
While an Expo, the "Kid" once signed a ball to a cousin of mine who was battling what would be terminal cancer. But it wasn't just a signature, it was a message of hope and perseverance. Gary Carter was a treasure.
Gary carter was a great friend in Christ
Wonderful target with the catcher's mitt on each pitch, watch the tapes.

A good Christian gentleman.
I need to be able to "like" this twice.
Bench & Carter were my idols as a tiny tomboy catcher. Carter also seemed like a really admirable human being.

@@SSNESS Feel better, MRA? Silly billy, go take a nap.
It was Simmons and Carter for me.
He loved Christ more than baseball
He came off as impossibly nice. But he showed it was, indeed, possible.
