Gary Carter was my favorite catcher growing up back in the 80's when he was with the Mets he inspired me to be a catcher when I was in high school and my primary position is first base I was stoked when he played one season for my Giants back in 1990 by then his best years were behind him I was totally heartbroken when he died he was a class act and truly to be missed RIP Kid!
He was the closest thing to Johnny Bench I ever saw. When he was traded I was dumbfounded I loved him and that team. The only Expo I liked more was probably Tim Raines.
Carter would only spend 3 years of that contract with the Expos being traded to the Mets in December of 1984. At least he came back to spend his final season with Montreal though.
You can't teach winning.. this guy would of been a great quarterback if he stayed with football.. He was drafted as a shortstop but became one of the greatest catchers. The time he played 3rd base after the Ray Knight brawl, you can feel that winning attitude him and Keith Hernandez displayed.. winners!
Gary Carter, as a Dodger fan one of our biggest rivals in the late 70's -early 80's was the Montreal Expos. It was a great day for us when Rick Monday hit the pennant-winning HR to get LAD to WS 81. Will miss le Grand Orange. The Kid. #8 A great baseball player and an even greater person. RIP
I’ve often heard Gary Carter was all about himself….not teammates well being. I remember it said that he was undermining Randolph in order to get the Mets managerial job in the early 2000’s. I don’t know what’s true. But…..all that said, he was a great player. In this piece he’s a great guy. That’s promoting him though.
“Natural foods… like bubblegum.” It sounds like the narrator was releasing a passive-aggressive pressure valve, like he was suddenly very tired of Gary Carter’s bullshit
Gary was a tremendous player and deserved his enshrinement in Cooperstown but Gary was all about Gary. This segment captures "Camera" at his best and worst. It's obvious why he rubbed almost everyone the wrong way. His arrival in New York with the Mets was the missing piece to a championship puzzle but the Mets never win without Keith Hernandez. Hernandez was a true leader and champion and not a selfish self promoter like Gary. He received entirely to much credit for the success or lack their of of the Expos teams he played on. Andre Dawson and Tim Raines were much more important to baseball in Montreal than Gary Carter.
Gary Carter one of the greatest catchers of all time and an awesome human being! You are missed Gary RIP
What an amazing time capsule! An amazing player and man. I miss you, Gary! You will always be my hero!

are you left handed?
Thurman Munson was my hero as a kid, and when he died I switched over to Gary Carter.
I'm glad he got to win a World Series in his career. Even better that it was at the expense of the Red Sox!

God bless you Gary...Mets 86
Damn how many Legends did the Expos give away? They've had everybody it seems.
European American Gary Carter, Tim Raines, Andre Dawson, Randy Johnson, Larry Walker, Pedro Martinez and Vladimir Guerrero.
@@gabrielmonet-alarcia8146 They're all Hall of Famers
Man I just saw the video of him playing third base that one game. That was impressive.

Gary carter was actually one of my grandpas friends he played golf with him!
What major league baseball did to the Expos was unpartonable.
My first hero
He should be the current manager of the New York Mets
Catholic action bible onlyist How can a dead person coach a team?

Before the Blue Jays came into the picture Montreal was mybteam because of Carter
The Canadian version of "60 Minutes".
That Mickey Mantle is worth a little more than 3000 dollars now.
The Expos version of PK Subban?
Gary Carter had some similarities with PK Subban!:)
Pop-up Gar-ry!

Way to go Pierre Trudeau. That’s a good way to alienate American athletes in Canada.
He thought he was going to take Willie Randolph's job as Met manager. Lots of catcher's become managers but Gary Carter was not a leader of men.
