When he was with the Giants, most of their “stars” barely signed any autographs during an exhibition game with their AAA team. But not Gary Carter! He signed for EVERYONE! Even looked you in the eye while doing it and smiled ;). A true gentleman!!!
Watching this makes me realize how much baseball meant in Montreal. I hope the Rays move there so you guys can get baseball back and that team gets the fans it deserves.
I have a Baseball that's signed by Gary Carter. I cherish it every day that I get to look at it. He was one of the best Catchers ever to live. The Expos were so Lucky to have him, as were the Mets. Gary Carter was taken from us too soon, but his memory lives on in all Expos fans near and far. We love you Gary! And we'll Never forget you! Here's to you Kid!
Still miss you kid as a dodgers and Mets fan proud to have had you as a big part of my childhood till I was 19 also much love to Montreal and those old school expos
This song and video gives me chills every time. R.I.P. Gary Carter, you gave me incredible childhood moments. One of the greats in baseball...Merci KID !
I was born in 89 and as i was growing up a catcher all the stories my momma and father told were about Gary Carter and how we a class act on and off the field. God Bless Gary Carter
I'm only 19 but many of us Mets fans worship the '86 team. This is a wonderful tribute and I truly hope you guys get another team in Montreal. Expos and Mets fans stand together and remember you kid
I wasn't around in the world when Gary played but just by looking at his highlights and this video it shows me not only how great a ball player his was, but also how great of a person he was. I'm a mets fan and I love the inspiration, the leadership, everything he offered to the team. I really hope the mets win this year for him. R.I.P "The Kid"
To a true baseball player, a man who played this beautiful game with a smile. I miss you Kid, you will never be forgotten. NOW LET'S GET THE EXPOS BACK!!! Au Revoir Kid, Au Revoir. Nos Amours!
Gary Carter was bigger than life here in Montreal. He was so loved by the fans. He was every kids idol, incl mine. We all wanted to be Gary. We imitated his batting stance, we did everything to be him. He was just as big as Guy Lafleur was here in Montreal. He really was a fan favorite. No one disliked the kid. I miss him so much. thx for the great vid, annakin. u really brought back some great childhood memories for me going to the Big O with my dad and watching my beloved expos. God do I miss those days and this vid brought me back.
I grew up idolizing Gary as a Met, after his stint with the expos. I haven't had the same love for baseball since the lockout in the early 90's, so to hear of him passing was sad. Thanks for taking the time to make such an awesome tribute, it really took me back.
Amazing tribute. My Dad and I would watch the Expos all the time. When we moved back to Montreal from B.C. we drove across the country and made sure we were at a hotel in time to watch the games. Thank you Annakin Slayd. Beautiful song
'86 mets were my favorite sports team of all time. i've always admired the '94 expos too (though the kid wasn't on that squad, he was on the '92 team). i'm surprised this video has only gotten 2000 views cause i must've sent it to at least 20 people myself already.
I remember him coming to visit our summer camp for a day talking about baseball and answering the questions of a bunch of 8-15 year olds. What a class act and ambassador for our long gone but beloved Expos.
Annakin, I'm too young to have seen/remember seeing Gary Carter playing for our Expos, but I almost cried at this. And believe me, that's saying A LOT. I could really feel how loved he was and how great he was for our city and fans through the song, I think most people will agree. RIP Gary "The Kid" Carter, you were/are an inspiration for those who knew you and those who didn't.
Great tribute! As a lifelong suffering Met fan, where championships are few and far between, thanks "Kid" for not making the final out in game 6 of the '86 world series. RIP Gary! Class act all the way!
I watch this video every now and then because it brings me back to being 10 years old and full of hope. Gary was my hero and inspiration. I loved the Expos and Gary Carter. Still do. Always will. RIP Kid
I seen this video 3 times today words brought tears to me... all time favorite player of mine growing up in Montreal...I now live the west coast but still feel a hole in my heart that there is no more baseball back HOME.... what ever happen to Youppi

Thanks Annakin for bringing me back. Thanks for your talents, your passion, and for being a voice for so many of us who miss the game in Montreal. Great work once again!
Makes me remember countless summer nights spent watching games with my late great grandfather R.I.P. # 8 a Gentleman and a legend on the field and in life
Annakin this is amazing. Your music and the emotion it brings out will bring back the Expos someday. I'll be atthe first game to shake your hand. Thank you and rest in peace #8.
In a perfect world Kid would be alive managing the Mets and there would be no analytics or prima Donna ballplayers just. KID AS MANAGER MANAGING PLAYERS LIKE HIM. WITH. WALLY AS BENCHCOACH
Great video! That was baseball at its best, I loved following the Expos and Gary Carter. Something was special about a big crowd at a Montreal Expos game, it was like no other crowd in baseball, its hard to explain but it had a magic feel, just like watching Carter slide into a base to beat out a tag....man he was great player and human being!!
Annakin, a great tribute about the greatest Expo to ever live! Thank you for making this and helping brign back the great memories of our beloved 'spos! I still can't get thru watching it without tearing up! RIP Kid!!!! You'll be forever in our hearts!
Thank you for this video! It was well done! I loved Gary, and watching him play. I love to see his love for the game and for his fans. Thank you Gary, now rest knowing you did your job well, and have touched lives you never knew you touched!
One year you leave this world today Kid but you always in our heart. Montreal miss you and never forget you Kid. We love you Gary Carter and thanks for all champ!!
The best tribute video I have ever seen! Well done, and a fitting video for one of the classiest professional athletes ever to play....any sport! Thank you for doing this, Gary smiles!
Met Gary just outside the Shea Diamond Club when I was 15 and skipped school with some friends. Of course we found ourselves at Shea. It was the late 80's and the Mets owned the city. We went to try to sneak into the bullpen which we actually did before one of the grounds crew yelled at us to get out! This was 88, afternoon, no game - but what were the chances - the team was boarding a bus to Laguardia airport to head for a road trip. How and why there were at least 100 plus other fans there on a school day, I have no idea, but I swear to you Carter signed every F-ing kids paper or team schedule or whatever they had in their hand - EVERY SINGLE ONE! Hernandez just walked right by kids who had their arms extended with paper and pen. Bob Murphy muttered to me, "NOT NOW SON." Most players (Cone, Barry Lyons, Sid and HoJo - those are the ones I remember for some reason) signed but not for long. No one else stayed as long as Gary did. It really is amazing to think about to be honest as I experienced it in person. WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL PERSON! I hope Gary's family reads this although I'm sure they know it already. He signed EVERY SINGLE ONE, and I know because I was one of the last ones in line! EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!!
THANKS ANAKIN, YOU MADE MY DAY, I THOUGHT I HAD FORGOTTEN ALL ABOUT THE SPO'S, AND AFTER RE-LIVING SOME OF THOSE MOMENTS, I REALIZED THAT I REALLY DO MISS THEM. NOW LET'S BUILD A STATUE, AND KEEP THE EXPOS EMBLEM STILL VISIBLE, AND A LIVE....AND WHO KNOWS, JUST MAYBE...WE'LL SEE THEM ONCE AGAIN.
My friends dad is Dennis Blair who pitched for the Expos from 75-76 is gonna love this tribute! He took Mr. Carter's passing pretty hard. I'm sure this wonderful tribute will bring a smile to his face! Thanks for sharing with us @annakinslayd
I'm really sorry to hear about ur childhood icon passing away :( And this was a very well done tribute to him. The emotions this song produces is overwhelming
Wow i cant believe this!!! I remember when i was 7 or 8 years old and my coach told me that year i will be playing catcher all year and i was so happy b/c at the time i was a mets fan and carter was my favorite player. I think i had the same number too that year... It sucks when really awesome ppl pass on... At least they have a great catcher upstairs now!!
@Joe Bourbon you forgot to mention Dale Murphy, he and Gary were a lot alike. Positive, always smiling, honest, and loved by the fans, and rightfully so. Those two are true role models. Great ball players and great people. Played the game clean, I wish more players were like them today.
I am a Red Sox fan forever, But I gotta say, this is a good video, G Carter played for the love of the game and didn't appear to play soley for the $!!! RIP Kid!
AAAHHH! Gary was the reason I became a Mets fan back in 1988-that and seeing the old Shea Stadium in person. Is the first part of the song about the sign true? Cancer is horrible.
When he was with the Giants, most of their “stars” barely signed any autographs during an exhibition game with their AAA team. But not Gary Carter! He signed for EVERYONE! Even looked you in the eye while doing it and smiled ;). A true gentleman!!!
True professional
I was at the Big O when Carter hit a double at his last presence in baseball. The crowd was so crazy. I cried.
It breaks my heart hearing Harry Caray say "Enjoy it all Pal. You earned it!!!!"
