Opening The Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary (11th Edition)

- Thought I'd mix things up a bit.
Here is me opening a brand new copy of the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary - 11th Edition.
I bought this today (Friday, July 7th 2017) from Chapters for $35.95.
This will replace the dictionary I have from 1989 (it's 28 years old... come on... I needed a new one)! Enjoy!
It's nice seeing someone excited about a dictionary. I had the Webster's 10th, but I'm probably wrong, because that was around 1968. I highlighted in yellow everytime I looked up a new word. I have to credit my dear mother for giving me a curiosity about words, their origins, and their various meanings. She's gone now. But appreciating language, saying something precisely, has always been close to my heart. It's all about communication, folks, and our ability to talk to one another.
Amen my friend. My mother has passed too… and I have her to thank for my love of words, dictionaries, word games, and especially those daily Jumble puzzles in the newspaper.

This dictionary is amazing. My previous dictionary was from 1989. I was way overdue for an update.
Its shortage of examples make it a difficult to understand words in real context, comprately Oxford or Cambridge.
Still i like it, this mars its beauty.
I'm happy with my 1933 Merriam Webster's new international dictionary
Vladimir Remmirez I love the old ones too but I needed an updated one. I still look through this daily, even two years later...

Yes but I think there is a newer version out now. This dictionary is over 3 years old now.

Yes there is. There is a huge geographical section in the back containing over 10,000 world locations and landmarks.

Can you please find the word fondness in this dictonary.. i need proof that the opposite of fondness is antipathy ..and proof is book only ..can you help me ? Its urgent.. no doubt on google answer is there but i need proof
