Now this is an AWESOME band. Like totally badass to the core, no holding back. They remind me of my younger days listening to Swervedriver, Shudder to Think, Quicksand, Jawbox, Hum, Sunny Day Real Estate, Chavez, etc.
As many people is saying this chorus is kind of similar to incubus "Nowhere Fast" but both are great different focused songs. C´mon in mainstream radio you hear 20 identical songs a week, incubus and oceansize are completely OUTSTANDING bands.
There's also a lot of Chris Cornell in the vocals, and a touch of Soundgarden overall. I think Oceansize are not much influenced by anything post 1997. They just happen to have a similar take on certain aspects of composition as some other bands that were also influenced by new wave, electro and grunge.
To me, this band sounds like a combination of three different bands(no i'm not naming them!!) mixed up and turned into something completely different. Really interesting, off to explore some more....
watching this on MTV when it came out was my introduction to Oceansize. I was hooked straight away. NOBODY does it better indeed. oh and does anyone know if Oceansize ever played Oscar Acceptance Speech live?
With such a level of musicianship it is a shame they were not more popular in the States. I've found maybe fifteen people that have heard of them in my long career of enjoying the arts. Terrible. I want to smack some people. Wake them up to bands that craft their own music. Epic and personal. Durn it. Come back to us Oceansize...Ah..nothing like a pint of ale to let loose the ranting. Cheers to you.
I woke with a start today, determinations are set Filled with expectation I've sold to collide But I am so fearful of the future Ignorant of the present I'm wary of the past Through the door I shuffle him quietly down the hall Identical corridors and artificial lights The man in the box, born to set my world to right Effortless to ignite, screaming in my head With hope the catalyst will blow my joy away But you thought that I'd have so much more to say Can't save me now Can't save me now But I am so fearful of the future Ignorant of the present, I'm wary of the past When I awoke to a blue sky with a haze of red True I __ Pissin', suck up to the man No wonder I'm tired when I awoke with a start today
@zancudero there is some sound similarity on this song so i tend to agree with his comment. also, incubus are very good band as well :) no need to say who is better or worse. i can hear a bit of mike patton in the vocals at the start too
They were really really good and reminds me a bit of norways motorpsycho. I dont think you can tell what kind of music this is. But it IS prog, that`s for sure!
fact is incubus were one of the best bands of our generation. S.C.I.E.N.C.E, make yourself and morning view are incredible albums. A crow left of the murder was disappointing but it has some good tracks. Light grenades was MEGA disappointing!!!! it had a few good tracks but songs like earth to bella makes me want to bleed out of my ass! Oceansize have been so consistent. In my opinion they have gotten better by every album
@MyLordCamelot Music is music, people like what they like. It's as simple as that. If you have to wonder why anyone is listening to anything than you'll never truly "get" music
its space rock dude. its just that 80% of everyone doesnt know because of all the steriotypes u know. they were the very first space rock band to ever exist
Dude...Tool is an amazing band ...the two are genious....BUt tool is more of alternative metal...or art metal/rock...this one is prog...i love the 2 of them
@zancudero took me a while to respond. no.. i am NOT kidding. This band may be on 'another level' .. but this sounds like incubus. there is no denying it.
Best band ever miss them
Now this is an AWESOME band. Like totally badass to the core, no holding back. They remind me of my younger days listening to Swervedriver, Shudder to Think, Quicksand, Jawbox, Hum, Sunny Day Real Estate, Chavez, etc.
Severely underrated and beautiful. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong with people.
This band should have been enormous.
Oceansize ...forever🖤
THIS video was the first thing I ever saw/heard of Oceansize. Nowadays, I can't imagine my life without this band.
Award for: "Best video of the under rated artist of the century" goes tooooo.....
OCEANSIZE - CATALYST
As many people is saying this chorus is kind of similar to incubus "Nowhere Fast" but both are great different focused songs.
C´mon in mainstream radio you hear 20 identical songs a week, incubus and oceansize are completely OUTSTANDING bands.
Quote: "NOBODY does it fucking better."
You, sir, spoke the absolute truth.
oceansize the only show i wached sober and it was the best show i've ever seen
i miss them so much.
I found this band today, as I'm a fan of Porcupine Tree. This is a beautiful song and video
it was an honor to see this band live.
it is available as a .mov file on the Catalyst CD single.
deftones, oceansize, 65 days of static i love all those bands :D you have good taste mate
There's also a lot of Chris Cornell in the vocals, and a touch of Soundgarden overall. I think Oceansize are not much influenced by anything post 1997. They just happen to have a similar take on certain aspects of composition as some other bands that were also influenced by new wave, electro and grunge.
Its space rock. Like muse, amplifier, autolux, radiohead. Its beautiful sound
To me, this band sounds like a combination of three different bands(no i'm not naming them!!) mixed up and turned into something completely different.
Really interesting, off to explore some more....
i can´t find more bands like Oceansize...They are unique!!
Best scream in modern rock,
reminds me of Wedstock, haylofts and Jasmine x x
@mooelladeville
Are those bands or singers?
@dannyirwin, Manchester, I believe.
the man in the box born to set my world to rights
effortlessly soon ignites the screaming in my head
one of the coolest videos ever made.....amazing band. criminally underrated.
Can't stop listening to this everyday
One of my favourite bands
Byłem na koncercie w HRC. Są po prostu zajebiści na żywo. Brzmią jeszcze lepiej niż na płytach. Wielki zespół!
Seeing them next Saturday in such a small venue. So excited, such a good band.
This track changed my life.
finally, been looking for this video for such long time, underrated band
de lo mejor que he escuchado ultimamente... OCEANSIZE rocks!!!!!! grettings from costa rica!!!
...they were named after a Jane's Addiction song.
Saw them the other night supporting Faith no More..they went down well!
So underrated, for no reason at all...
I'M BLESSED to have known you.
This isn't goodbye.
Later, Oceansize...
watching this on MTV when it came out was my introduction to Oceansize. I was hooked straight away. NOBODY does it better indeed. oh and does anyone know if Oceansize ever played Oscar Acceptance Speech live?
such a beautiful song
Great Song
Love Oceansize at the moment!! Epic stuff
the intro is in 4/4 (the guitar strumming) althought it may not seem it
but when the riff comes in, it goes from 4/4 to 3/4 every bar
dude luvinhas tool and this are also my favorite.
i absolutely love these guys :D
Very intresting video!
been looking for it under it's bed.
also my bloody valentine and mogwai
im happy i found this...
Felt the same when I discovered them last summer.
This is the catalyst of my visual surreal trip
With such a level of musicianship it is a shame they were not more popular in the States. I've found maybe fifteen people that have heard of them in my long career of enjoying the arts. Terrible. I want to smack some people. Wake them up to bands that craft their own music. Epic and personal. Durn it. Come back to us Oceansize...Ah..nothing like a pint of ale to let loose the ranting. Cheers to you.
55 minutes is perfect for an album.
I discovered this band just a few weeks ago and all I can say is: FUCKING AWESOME!
I woke with a start today, determinations are set
Filled with expectation
I've sold to collide
But I am so fearful of the future
Ignorant of the present
I'm wary of the past
Through the door
I shuffle him quietly down the hall
Identical corridors and artificial lights
The man in the box, born to set my world to right
Effortless to ignite, screaming in my head
With hope the catalyst will blow my joy away
But you thought that I'd have so much more to say
Can't save me now
Can't save me now
But I am so fearful of the future
Ignorant of the present, I'm wary of the past
When I awoke to a blue sky with a haze of red
True I __
Pissin', suck up to the man
No wonder I'm tired when I awoke with a start today
How it all began for me about 4 years ago
Davvero un bel SOUND. Ottime le voci.
now thats some art.
@Aspenshadow721 Waiting for you to find them.. You're in for a treat.
best video...
EVER
Youre right! Those screams sound very Patton-esque !!!
J'adore...
It pains me that muse get number ones while these go unnoticed
@zancudero there are a few similarities between this song's chorus and the chorus in 'Nowhere Fast' by Incubus, i can see where he'd be coming from.
Oceansize is still spining inside my Prog-head...no need to words
@WickedWitchKING ..though the smoothjazz element in this one is quite original..
inspirational...
DAMN LOVE IT!
@irondeth33 Yeah, I know what you're talking about. Sounds a little like Airbag.
Heh, that's actually the way I found them too. Porcupine Tree is awesome. Oceansize is cool too.
this is the first time i heard them...they are brilliant...anyone knows who directed the video?
I love this track ='(
This is so good! But am I the only one who's hearing Incubus song "Nowhere Fast" in here?
Bart Schouteten it fucking is haha. I love them both!
@zancudero there is some sound similarity on this song so i tend to agree with his comment. also, incubus are very good band as well :) no need to say who is better or worse. i can hear a bit of mike patton in the vocals at the start too
But I am so fearful of the future,
Ignorant of the present,
And wary of the past...

sounds like the beginning is in 7/4 to me, verses in 6/4?
RIP Oceansize
I AGREE
Oceansize are awesome live. Incubus are ok live. Catalyst is a fucking awesome song.
And S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is a seriously good album.

Has a bit of a muse sound in there
@MyLordCamelot Music is music, people like what they like. It's as simple as that. If you have to wonder why anyone is listening to anything than you'll never truly "get" music

Remembers me UNDER THE PIPE... without voice.
Post-rock and progressive rock band
@M1NDG4ME25 Ah so that's where the internet lives. I did always wonder ; )
@zancudero took me a while to respond. no.. i am NOT kidding. This band may be on 'another level' .. but this sounds like incubus. there is no denying it.
Yes get out the 80's lavalamps and lets make a video :-)
@lambdatempest you are kidding, please dont compare this amazing post progressive rock with incubus, cuz oceansize are in another level of music
