As requested, a look at all my colouring supplies and a little bit about why I have them. edit: also, since I'm a "professional", I forgot that I also have a set of 200 or so glittery gel pens gifted by my mother from a random brand on amazon. they show up in my pages often too.

What is your favourite colouring supply? Do you own any of the supplies I own? Did you get any ideas of new things to purchase? (Sorry about that last one, lol!)

Completely agree, been colouring around 6\7 months and completely agree. I slowly grew my poly pencils by buying a few pencils at a time and completely worth it. Just discovered your channel, looking forward it watching all your 100s of vids 🥰

I enjoyed this video immensely and thank you for taking the time to create it. VERY informative, but straight to the point as well.
I agree entirely about endless supplies of budget pencils etc, that are inferior both because of lightfastness, but also how fast the budget supplies wear down, or that the core is not centered in the barrel of the pencil, or crap wood or cores that snap with ease. Buying endless sets of budgets pencils is a waste of money, given you have to replace the entire set, rather than a few select favourite colours.
Choosing the supplies that work best for you is essential. With careful planning, you can make a few great choices go a l-o-n-g way. Buying some good quality clear iridescent/sparkly mediums means that you can put it over the top of any colour and have the same results as the person who chooses to buy tons of different glitter colours. I think some people collect supplies, without fully learning how much they can get out of so little, if only they made wiser choices to begin with.
I love my polychromos pencils too, and my inktense pencils. I could see that I would use my inktense pencils alot, so when the inktense blocks came on half price sale, I bought those. I can mix colours from the blocks easily on a kitchen chopping board and get pale or intense new colours. I've found they work well with white acrylic paint as well. The Indian ink in them is permanent and I enjoy exploring their varieties of uses.
I have prismas, but they feel weird and I'm still learning to get the best out of them. I have old derwent artist pencils from when I was a young teenager, just starting out in high school ... some 47 or so years old. Some colours are no longer made, but heck, the pencils work just like new.
I hate swatching out new supplies, but it is imperative if you are ever to know how to use the colours with other supplies. Or layer different colours to acheive a brand new colour.
Keep up the great videos! I enjoy your wicked sense of humour but also your common sense approach to everyday stuff.

Such a wonderful comment! Thank you so much for your thoughts and information. I definitely agree with you. I never want it to come off as if I'm judging people, but have heard especially from my friends issues of feeling overwhelmed when they get excited, purchase a new set of pencils, use it once, and then purchase another. One is particularly overwhelemed and quite happy passing them on on resale sites, which is something I've done when testing things out or just finding a product didn't meet my expectations. If I don't enjoy it, and it can't go back to the shop, it's going to live with someone else. Of course if you're a review channel that makes absolute sense to be the one testing "the new hotness" for the audience.
That is interesting to hear about the inktense blocks as well. They were not out when I purchased my pencils, but now since I do not work with water, using a blender pen instead, I find that I have to mix colours directly on the paper and kinda just "hope". It's a less controlled way of doing things, but it tends to fit with my improvisational skills at least.

This was a really informative video thank you. I agree with you 100% about buying sustainable supplies. I have full sets of the polychromos and the prismacolor because like you said I can replace just one or two pencils as needed and I don’t have to buy another whole set just because I’m out of the colors I use most often. I’m also on a disability budget so every dollar has to count. The only budget sets I have are the Arteza , the Castle Arts, and the Black widows and I only have those because I really enjoy the way they feel when I’m coloring. They give me that feeling right between prisma soft and poly hard. Again great info in this video and I’m sure it will be very helpful for many people. Thanks for sharing this.

Aww, thank you for your wonderful comment! I felt the same way about the Castle Arts when I did try them, that in between feeling, that almost kind of "glide" to it can be fun. I'm glad you found the video interesting :)

I have noticed that my alcohol markers had a much stronger smell when I lived in Florida, now that I am in Colorado the smell isn’t as strong. I wonder if it has to do with the humidity, because Colorado is a desert. I have asthma, so the strong smell can effect my breathing also.

Great coloring supplies! I also don't have much supplies but I also buy a little pack of 'good' art supplies and if I like it, I buy the rest. I also only buy supplies I can buy again individually because I don't want to spend a lot of money on a whole box of supplies when I need 1 or 2 colors. I just bought a 48 basic set of the promarkers of Winson and Newton. So exited!

All my feelings exactly! It's nice to see I'm not just "being snobby" as some have actually said to me... like, okay, maybe but I also don't wanna waste money? Cos I'll cop to being frugal any day of the week lol. I hope you enjoy your new pens, I've heard about them through the years but I already had other pens that fit the job so I was able to resist haha.

You’re adorable. I’m sorry you are disabled - I’m happy that you are so upbeat! I have to agree - why buy different budget sets? You can put that money towards a high end pencil you can buy open stock!

Aw have you had bad luck with them too? That really sucks. And to have them be local to you and more accessible there, that's awful if you can't rely on a quality product for your money. I'm sorry :(
