Taiwan high speed rail from Taipei main railway station to Tainan. Taiwan train travel trip report
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 тра 2024
- Taiwan has a great high speed rail system, linking the biggest part of the population. Due to the geographical shape of Taiwan, by far most people live on the east coast of the main island. The high speed trains reduced the travel time a lot however the stations might be on more remote spots (I explain this in the video). In this video I tell about the Taiwanese railway system in general, show the main railway station of Taipei, what is also Taiwans biggest intermodal transport hub, show the high speed trains, THSR 700T, views from the train between Taipei & Tainan and the situation of stations in Tainan.

Because musicbed demonitized the video I posted Yesterday for no reason and they won't cooperate, I'll publish next week's video now.
We know so little about Taiwan. Thank you for taking us there. Impressing to see! Very nice report 👍
As always, a very good and informative video, 😊
12:15 You can actually buy local train tickets with the ticket machine
Good 👍 video
thank you for your video. but I still don't understand how to transit from the fast train station to the local train.🙏
Thank you for the detailed information ❤
Thanks for your advice on the confusion of station names. I will try to inform the authorities about that. I am a Tainan local with Dutch blood. My Dutch ancestors were here back from 1624~1662. One of their tombs is still near my house, right outside the Tainan Air Force Base. Another house of mine, happens to be right in front of the Taipei Main Station. Most of my childhood neighbors in Taipei, happened to be from Taiwan Railways' workers families. You can say that I grew up with rails and trains. My parents just keep one house in Taipei & another house in hometown Tainan. Anyways, welcome to Taiwan, and hopefully the gov. will fix the problems you brought up soon.
Haha thanks. So funny, yes the Dutch have a interesting history with Taiwan. I guess names that are more clear would be very helpful (same thing by the way in for example France and Spain, newer high-speed railway stations just get another name so you can't see it based on the name that it's a high speed station only, like Montpelier Sud de France, on the first high speed line it just says TGV after the.station name, that is more clear to people who don't know about traveling in some regions).
And I'll be back in Taiwan for sure, because my girlfriend is from there. I really love Taiwan and want to inform people that it's a awesome place to visit (and travel on a more sustainable way by train is the best thing to do so).
It's so convenient that there is a major transit hub where MRT, airport train, high speed railway, commuter trains, and intercity trains meet and the station name is easily recognizable by foreigners.
Here in Jakarta, we don't have such thing. Some stations are connected to each other (such as: MRT - commuter train - airport train, LRT - HSR, LRT - commuter train) but we need to walk a skybridge or pedestrian lane.
Anw, is the commuter train Japanese? because it looks (and sounds) so japanese.
Me from Taiwan (emu train is high speed but part of TRA)
Aaaahh thanks for letting me know.
You could try out the business class in the new EMU3000, it's quite worth the price I'd say
Oooohhhh I'll try that this year probably. This was my first Taiwan visit. It was short and sweet. This year I really want to travel around more.
Can I sit anywhere if I avail the Non-reserved seat? Thanks
Yes, you can sit anywhere in the specific Carriage for non-reserved seat
i am sure you heard of or know the trans-siberian train( NOT THE TOURIST ONE...THE ONE FOR THE common)...it travels FASTER THAN THIS taiwan "high speed rail"...
Explain
