Admech players : "First time ?"
this is going to happen very soon.
pretty close to that already.
Admech players would wish the prices were that good
Ah, yes... 245$ for 5 teleporting terminators, what a steal
Funny, i dont remember my salary going up 5% to match any of this
Its almost like they are still making bank but most people have become poorer. TIME TO RAISE PRICES ANYWAY
I think we've all been singing that tune for what? The 30 years wages haven't changed lol
Pretty sure GW won't be giving their staff a 5% pay rise either.
If you are buying warhammer and poor then you might be poor for a reason.

Admech about to fall below 1 average points per dollar.
Honestly this upsets me cause the first army I was interested in was Admech but I put them on ice cause of the cost.
Didn't they already?
Go 3D print them man the rules suck anyway
@@emanueleragazzi341 No theyve had a few kits exactly at a point per pound. Which will now go to 1.05£ per point.
And this is for a horde army..
Its okay, you don't want to play AdMech anyway. Even winning (when it rarely happens) feels awful
If GW wants to go more mainstream the last thing they need to do is price increases, people wanting to get into Warhammer will go into their stores see these prices alone and walk out
Dude, just looking at the price for any basic pack of 5 minis, 5!!! Would be enough to deter anyone with more than 2 braincells
Warhammer is already a premium luxury product. So most customers really aren't very price sensitive. The reality is they're likely to continue growing
@@LiamBarden didn't GW state profits being up but sales being down in one of their more recent shareholder reports?
Agreed I would have nvr even tried to get into the game if it wasn't for 3d printers.
That's the thing, NO to going mainstream.
I 100% call bullshit on this. North Star Military figures (that make Frostgrave, Stargrave, oathmark) and Wargames Atlantic havent raised any prices in years and they are putting out great products. Fuck GW.
I'm waiting for the anti-capitalist apologist crowd jumping to answer this point... Sometime next year.
Gundam kits arent seeing constant price hikes and those require a lot more RnD then a GW kit. Different types of plastics, colored plastics, have to engineered with movable parts.
And then you have this GW garbage where they don't even give you extra bits in most kits with their mono-pose, no customization 60 Euro kits.
Godbless WG Atlantic man. Doubly so if your an imperial guard player. You get 2 infantry squads for around 40 bucks. Absolutely saved my desire for having a guard army
I just started a 100% print guard army
Not to mention the net weight of the plastic you get for that price. It's a joke. Bandai puts GW to shame. @@qwads

Yeah, as long as you're rich.
Well yes, it's not for the starving or homeless but you can still play Warhammer without buying from GW at a far reduced cost. It just takes initiative and a little sense
@@russianbot7875people who buy direct from GW really have no right to complain about prices. Not when eBay, Amazon, table-top stores and other such places exist. I was able to get two of the new Necron combat patrols last year for $130 each the same week they came out. That was effectively 1,000 points of models for $260 which ist still expensive but not anymore then what I’d expect to pay for any other hobby.
Okay let's compare it to say Airsoft.
RiF - £200 - 1000
Batteries - £30
Battery charger - £20
Spare magazines - £100
Speed loader - £30
Plate carrier £50-100
Eye pro - £30-100
BBs - £25 - 50 a game day
Walk on site fee £25-40 a game day
Clothing/food/travel - £££
This is billy basic of basic entry fees for Airsoft, it will quickly spiral out of control money wise when adding sidearms, optics, gas, pyro, etc..

Not greed-capitalism. For a publicly traded company, every year must see continuous growth in revenue to please shareholders, and if you one year post record profits because your product was ideally suited to a global lockdown, well, here we are.
And no, considering that GW cannot remotely meet demand as it is, there's zero incentive for them to lower their prices.
They also have an elitist attitude. They don’t believe any other product can replace them.
@@pancakemogul What do you mean 'cannot meet demand'? They choose not to. There isn't a shortage of cheap plastic for making the models in the world. GW just don't make enough. They could run bigger production runs if they wanted to.

Ok so lets increase the model count needed to play, introduce relatively new model kits being reworked (ie the stormcast rework) so people have to re buy their armies, AND increase prices. What could possibly go wrong?
They make more money year on year. Which funnily enough is exactly what is happening!

You just described what they did with the Primaris range. Did people stop p(l)aying? Nope.
idk about other countries, but in the US the price for a single box of troops is now roughly equal to a full days pay of minimum wage.
Huh, in my country it is a minimum of two days with minimum wage for Cadians, a Space Marine Intercessor squad would be roughly two days and something more
Or you need to work for a full year for an admech army
I think that says more about the USA's minimum wage than GW prices
Maybe you should be thinking about finding a better job then.
@hollyd8989 odd the OP didn't say anything about their job.

Apparently £100M yearly profit isn't enough. One page rules and 3d printing.

@@Duppyman695I just like Auspex.
To be fair, £100M with inflation isn't what it used to be. Not an agreement with their practices, just a reality. This is a common talking point when companies raise prices. Everyone says they're making record profits, but if you factor in inflation they could in fact be making less as each pound or dollar has less value behind it.

The funny thing about inflation with Games Workshop is they raise the prices when inflation goes up but when inflation goes down it stays the same.
Inflation hasn't gone down since 1960.

Lmaoo😂
They really are comically awful.
I figured that out when they axed beastmen lmao
Apologies for my cynicism, but the reason for the price increase is to enable Games Workshop Senior Management to meet increased profitability targets so they can maximise shareholder return and therefore maximise their bonus (which is the only variable component of their compensation package)! No rocket science required. These people don’t care about the game, just the numbers. Sad when the heart goes out of a company and all you are left with are bean counters!
I'd call that being honest and realistic, not cynical in the least
So, apparently their record profits weren't a big ENOUGH record.
And I officially DO NOT want to hear GW complain about 3D printing EVER again.
They aren’t. They literally aren’t. They have to continue posting higher profits year over year or the shareholders will destroy them.
@@jwebcoding7289 oh I get it, but how happy will the shareholders be when we've finally had enough? It's an odd balancing act.
@@joshsmith1179 that appears to be the strategy. I never said it made sense to try to make more like this but that’s the approach they’re going with. I’m just happy my army is almost entirely complete already.
So on one hand, people really overlook the fact that "record profits" during a period of rapid inflation just means their number of dollars(pounds or whatever) is the highest they've recorded, which would be expected if the value of the currency is lower than the previous year. You have to couple "record profits" with "record expenses" too. But in this case I agree with your sentiment in general towards GW, this kind of price increase goes way beyond adjusting for economic factors and straight into blatant greed territory. As a veteran who started in 3rd edition(2001) I finally got turned off of GW a few years ago since they went after fan creators on YT for making better 40k content than WH+. Haven't played a single game of 9th or 10th editions and don't have any desire to, so their prices and gaslighting over female custodes don't affect me anyway, but if I ever get back into 40k or Heresy and decide I want new stuff, it will be with a 3d printer and proxies, and without GW. Got started in Turnip28 with a few boxes of Perry Miniatures, and from them you get between 32 and 44 imperial guard sized dudes in a $35 box, quality of sculpts is on par with older GW stuff and you get cool historical pamphlets showing the colors and banners of different regiments or houses from whatever era. There's simply no excuse for the robbery that GW is getting away with except for the fact that some masochists will continue to willingly pay for it.
Isn't this the 4th consecutive year that GW registers record profits? And yet it has to increase prices?
That's why we need to unite and start 3D printing
I’d like to remind everyone that you have to pay for a book to pay for an app now as well
Find PDFs online. They exist. Hell Auspex here covers most detachments. I haven't payed a dime for my Ork's codex
8-14% is insane, especially when there's no discount stores.
It's actually not. Currently a box of Intercessors costs the equivalent of 40 USD in Sweden (vs. 60 USD in the US), and Sweden isn't known for being a low paying country. It's just massively cheaper. Lots of customers from EU buy their models in Sweden as it's cheaper than buying them in EUR, even adding the shipping costs.
@@Therockypony Even so, it's the principle of it. We need to stand up and vote with our wallets. If we don't unite now after GW told us to fuck ourselves, and then raised prices to spit in our face, then how long until it costs 60, 80, 90 USD equivalent in Sweden? Or other countries? It's about making a stand together
I routinely get Swedish WH from my inlaws because it's almost always 25-40% cheaper than the US even after the 25% VAT compared to my 7% sales tax. The prices are crazy imbalanced between countries and I can see why Sweden's had to go up.

Shall I tell you the story of Sister Boudica of the 10,000?
She was the most powerful, strong and the quickest wit of the custodes. She was also the big bad boss lady that ran a tight ship and totally wasn’t a total b*£ch.
She was on The Vengeful Spirit with The Emperor but unfortunately her time of the month came at the worst moment and she had to excuse herself to midship bathrooms. Khorne was pleased as he cares not from where the blood flows.
When she returned history had been written, The Emperor was crippled and Horus unexisted.
Once the entourage returned she gave those of the Custodes who failed to be there when Big E fell to Horus of House Heresy. After all it couldn’t be HER fault she had to excuse herself to the midship bathroom. As The Emperor was placed upon The Golden Throne there wasn’t a single dry eye nor a single sound save that of Sister Boudica screaming at the top of her lungs that she couldn’t believe how incompetent The Custodes were and if she had been there Horus would have been defeated in no time and Big E would be whole and healthy.
She was the best of the best you know, the greatest custodes, none were her equal. Since the beginning of the 10,000 she has always been there.
If they reduced price by 15% they would sell 40-50% more kits than they do now

One good example of box set discounts, was the Recruit Edition starter set during 9th Edition, which, according to Element Games, was priced around £32. @@MrRyamEros Thats why we have to get together as a community and protect our hobby, and stop them from literally pricing us out. We have to try and vote with our wallets, whats the worst that could happen?
@@Caragoner I agree completely that not giving them more of our money is the answer. However, gaming communities do not actually boycott things effectively. Look at EA and Ubisoft in the video game sphere. Objectively bad companies. Still very lucrative and still raising prices.
Insanity. Just got back into the hobby after a multi year break. Prices had already skyrocketed over 5 years. Completely unwarranted price increase.
Add on top of this their arbitrary exchange rate vibes where they still think the pound is worth 2 usd, and Australia just gets borked. It’s legit getting cheaper to simply ask a friend living in the uk to ship it over to you after paying for a rate exchange in pounds, than to buy from the us store.
Hello ! In France the price increase of 198 products will be between 5.1% and 11.5% and shows that the 3%-5% increase is a lie. If you have the opportunity to check the real increase thanks to contacts you have, you should do it and talk about it. I think that it's important to show the truth about such important things.
So instead of an arm and a leg now it's an arm, leg and a kidney? Great!
It’s already hard enough to get people into the game with the high cost of entry, this is starting to get ridiculous
I wouldn't mind as much when it comes to minis if the rules lasted longer and they didn't void on a whim. Tourney players are driving their sales chasing the new and best but for casual gamers this is a very off putting kick in the teeth.
Price increase right before 4th edition Aos comes out. I was excited for the big box that's to come with it since I'm a skaven player. I'm not sure now until I see what the price of it will be now
It'll be at least £155 if it's 3% more expensive than Leviathan was last year.
Buy a 3D printer brother. You can make the whole box and more for a FRACTION of the price
Yearly price increase time
Reminder that last time they announced a price increase, the average in US was almost twice what they'd stated the average was going to be, with some things going up 20%
the tom hardy 50 thousand pounds in a gw store short just ages better with each day
Best advice I can give to any new player is to try the game out with a kill team box and if you wanna get into the full game, get a 3D printer
How do you print 40k minis?
@@RyDarrick1 There are ways....
3D Printers and recasters go BRRRRR
All this shit has being completely inspired at work, ive become a union steward and have recruited like 15 people this week, our meetings have doubled and we are going into signing our contract next year. We are gonna be pushing hard for a BIG inflation raise. LETS GO PEOPLE IT STARTS WITH YOU!
Actually I recall an announcement about this raise from like around Xmas or slightly later, I remember because I've been planning my expanses more strictly in preparation to this
classic example of sacrificing long term survival for short term profits. they're milking old time customers who are older and more willing to and can pay, at the expense of any new players to the game. good luck getting a parent to pay 30GBP for a single character. or even 140GBP for a battleforce box.
Viva La Revolution anyone?
VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
Publicise alternate games systems and miniature suppliers. Encourage the playing of non-GW games at your local gaming group. Help your FLGS make stocking non-GW products economically viable.
I have actually stopped about 3 or so months ago.
Sororitas players slowly approaching the 1point per 1$ threshold.
If you want to get more out of your buck 3D printers are the way. Show GW we won't eat their slop anymore
I'm only a teenager who can barely afford this and now seeing ANOTHER price increase is f$@%ing insane
Do you have 50-60 bucks in birthday money from Grandma? If so you too can buy a small 3D printer and get into the hobby too!
And this is why I've been collecting quality stls/scans of GW miniatures.
I have two armies, calm down I have a pretty good allowance… just enough for buying things every month
During my 2 decades of adventure with WH, prices went from 19 pounds to almost 40 - for a 10 man box of marines and yet, people buy it... That 1 or 2 pounds won't make a huge difference.
My only gripe are those 3 man boxes and generic heroes, and their price.
I looked into this a bit and it seems like the price of styrene based polymers (what the minis are made of) have been going up in the UK recently, so that might be one reason why
OPR and Grimdark Future are looking more and more intriguing as GW fumbles through 2024.
I agree, Auspex doesn't do Grimdark Future ...... why are we here, to find out rules about 40K? To see what new mini's are being released from GW?
Maybe we should all buy the armies now and sit on them for 10years and sell them for at 336% profit... A 24% saving on gw's retail prices!
Or 3D print! Even better and GW will be forced to price drop. All for the low low price of a single box of GW minis
That's why they are discontinuing models at a much faster rate. Everyone will just end up playing 2nd edition. F this S.
The problem is people keep paying it. If people would pause their purchasing for just a year these prices would go right back.
Once base infantry kits cost $100+ I'm willing to bet that GW's market will crash. Marine pay piggies can only carry sales for so long with no new blood or old blood dropping out in favour of cheaper options.
Warhammer is currently comparatively cheap in Sweden and Norway compared to Denmark and the eurozone, hence the bigger price increase there. Sad
It was a nice loophole to buy from Sweden. But GW caught wind of that of course.
Last year they fucked over Poland for this same reason, too
Well, bust out your 3D printers then. Don't give in and buy from them. Show them we won't take what they're spitting on us.
maybe proxy is not making a dent overall but i know that the 2 to 5 k i had won t be going to gw and if only 99 other do like me it would cost them 500000 $ ( probly why 3d printer are so cheap they now have economy of scale)
The more of us that stop buying the more it hurts them. Keep on going! And share the word with others. We unite this year to save our hobby
Really strange how in the article they said "we've done our best to keep prices down." Right after they also announced record profit.
Don’t misunderstand I think we should support creators. That said, I think we need to start reading printing, even if we’re not making Gw models In protest of these prie increases!
Unfortunately they are not passing this price increase on to their creative staff. They are lowering salaries
Looks like my printer just paid for itself
My dad is the CEO of Games Workshop and I have to say: these price increases are 100 % necessary! Our family had to sell our third yacht last year and nobody should have to go through that.
Oh the humanity!
The way our economics work there is little to no chance we will see old prices on anything.
That's why we vote with our wallets! Pick up a 3D printer, encourage others to do the same. If you want to still play, you can play any and all armies you want for the price of a single box of 5 intercessors
Just getting into the hobby from games and lore (building up proxy Imperial Knights and Grey Knights armies) and the more I learn about Games Workshop the more resolved I am to never give them money if possible. 3D Printing is here, and king! Superb content, thank you for introducing so many to the mechanics of the tabletop!
