- We've been told by the anti-Israel activists that the root cause of the Israeli-Arab conflict is the injustice of the "Nakba" - which they say refers to the displacement of Arabs in 1948. The truth is far more sinister and revealing of the true cause of the conflict.
Nakba = we made bad decisions, lost the war and can't stop complaining about it.

I'm an atheist and dislike any religion, however after working in the region and studying the actual history of what/where/when I am 100% of the side of Israel and their right to exist.

My mother was born + raised in Jerusalem '31. Her best friend, Raya, was Muslim.
During '48 Raya told my mom that the Arabs were planning to pledge a war against the Jews and that she and her family would need to move from Jerusalem to Syria, per the arab lege instructions, and that they'd return once the war was over = AKA Israel is over.
Raya never returned and my mother has been grieving the loss of connection with her best friend ever since.

The Nakba did not begin with the attack of the Arab armies inside Palestine. The Nakba began 6 months before the entry of the Arab armies. From November to May, more than half of the Palestinian refugees were displaced, and then the Arab armies entered in May.
So why did the Zionist forces displace more than half of the refugees before the entry of the Arab armies!! So Israel, in one way or another, is the one who began the attack on the Palestinians

The Palestini people are the remnants of Arab Muslim invaders who wanted to establish a Caliphate. They did, the Rashidun Caliphate. The Byzantines, the Persians and so many others fought over that land for years. But the original people were Jewish. They were the first to be dispossessed at about 650 AD. Nakbah in 1948 was a shame where the Arab League countries did their best to destroy the new state of Israel and were roundly and soundly defeated. Palestine never existed. Palestine will probably never exist if they choose violence and terrorism as a way forward. A real shame.

About half the Jewish population of Judea were exiled and killed by the Romans from 135-136 AD. Palestina Prima was a Byzantine territory which the Rashidun Caliphate won. The Jews were dispossessed far before that date when the Romans conquered Judea (Judah) in 63 BC. However, the Romans did not exile the Jewish population until 136 AD. As far as the Arabs now called Palestinians, it is clear that they never wanted and do not want a Palestinian state unless there is no state of Israel. That is why they refused one time and time again. The actual slogan "From the river to..." (excuse UA-cam stops the post) is "From water to water Palestine will be Arab." Once that fact is accepted, there never will be peace because the Palestinians have to first accept Israel in order to accept a state.

The Byzantine Empire brought in the Ghassanids, who were Christian Arabs as part of a defense force against the Sassanian Empire, pre-Islamic Persians. The Jews were not the majority in the 7th century. However, their numbers were diminished further under the Caliphates. Some gave in to conversation to Islam as did others who converted to Christianity under the Byzantine Empire.

I am not Jewish. I am Australian and a retired Australian military member. I am 39 and if Isreal ever needs boots on the ground in the fight against the oppression of Islam I will gladly join them. I studied history at uni and I know the truth of what really happened in Israel over the last 2000 years. Jews were colonized not once but 4 times and miraculously they are still here. They beaten the odds so many times and have faced so much hardship maybe more than any other group in human history. I respect the fact that Jews had remained non violent and that they are not full of hatred when they have every right to be. For Jews to have finally had enough of being non violent shows how cruel and heartless they have been treated by the Arabs and other muslim countries. You can only poke the bear so much. I grew up in Iraq and that ‘they came from Europe and expelled the Palestinians’ was the story were were taught. Then after I came to the US I heard of a two state solution and I supported it, but it was only last year when I first heard the history from the Israeli side. (And with a few other details it made me switched my view completely, and the whole last year has been a learning experience I would say, that made me find many wonderful people (Israelis, Jews, and other Arabs and middle Easterners who support Israel) but changed how I see a lot of things around me.
Just another thing I wanted to share (if it helps explain this to someone else): In July 26, 1991 Iraq invaded Kuwait. Of course it was a surprise for us. the reason I heard at the time (I was in the UK with family, so at least there) was that Kuwait’s selling of oil (or certain amount etc) was brining the prices down and hurting Iraq’s economy.
Ok, two months later we go back to school (for me was junior high) and they were already telling us to remove or ignore parts of our books and giving us new maps that showed “Kuwait has always been part of Iraq” and “we were liberating it”. Of course we knew that wasn’t true but nobody was going to complain. We just played a long. (And I was happy the map got ‘corrected’ later, even though it cost terrible deaths in Iraq but I blamed all that on the idiot who started that war).
Just to give an idea about the level of corruption in the Arab leaderships and media.
And oh, another thing, a few months ago I found someone (on twitter) still believes Kuwait should be part of Iraq. ..

Their numbers grew naturally as well as through land purchase which developed the countryside, infrastructure and population as Arabs also migrated there, following the improved economy and opportunities.
Countries don't exist just to be a model diorama of religious exhibitions. People are allowed to live there and the Israeli/Jewish people's nation has the most extensive archaeology there. They will not leave and take their relics and companies and people away just so that the Vatican and Iran can turn it into a globalized shrine. They were told to temporarily evacuate from thier villages, so that the arab armies would have it easier to maneuver and destroy the Jews... those that did, well... temporary became permanent when the arab armies lost.. and they became refugees within the surrounding arab countries which refused to accept them as citizens. Those that stayed, well... they are Israeli citizens today and are living in the best conditions any muslim could wish for, in a democratic country - Israel. The slums of the refugee camps in the west bank and Gaza were a creation of Jordan and Egypt, who shunned the palestinians living there...

I understand you so well! I am a moderate leftie as well. I come from Russia and live in Germany. At first I had no opinion about Israel. But the obsession with it in Germany as well as demonstrations with questionable chants gave me no choice but to research this topic. It is so hard to develop a nuanced position. There is so much propaganda. UN and Amnesty International seem to consider Israel the most evil country in the world. Being from Russia it is kind of funny. News anchors on the Russian state TV threaten to nuke Europe every second day.
As a coptic christian Egyptian, it was so easy to me to spot the lies as they use the same techniques of lies against minorities, they start with a roamer and end with a huge offense against minorities, yet they complain about not having enough power to practice their sick ideology

Exactly, before isr@el declared its state in 1948 may, the first phase of the war was a civil war which broke out in 1947 nov after the partition plan was accepted and announced by the UN. After the declaration the arab armies joined in and that was the second phase.
And don't forget the Siege of western Jerusalem in 1948, when they used starvation as a weapon of war against the Jews.

Words like, 'Nakba' get thrown around with so much propaganda-push behind them that the public accepts the meaning they hear. We are living in a generation who does not know history, let alone an innate understanding of time lines. They only see the great suffering in current times and look for someone to blame. This conflict goes back much further than 1948. It goes back to the days of Abraham and Sarah. Israelis and Arabs are half brothers. The son of the rightful linage of Abraham and the son of Hagar Sarah's maid servant. They were both blessed by Abraham but Israel more so. His linage was to be the linage that led to Christ. Both were blessed but Hagar and Ishmael, her son, were cast out of the land. The Bible tells us there will always be enmity between the two. Jealousy is a powerful motivator.

I looked, and cannot find, any recorded reference to Arabs having descended from Ishmael, written prior to Mohammed.
