We ate lunch in these kinds of forests too, on the kibbutz trips. I thought they were ancient because of the ruins. When I learnt about the strategy behind the forests it was years later, by the film Blue Box, depicting Weitz, the father of transfer, conjuring up a scheme to cover up Israel's crimes and willing to wait for the trees to grow. Many of us have lived our entire lives watching this tragic history play out, and only now are we beginning to hear the real story and it is frankly appalling. While this film is about the Nakba - a word we are all now adding to our vocabulary - the British betrayal of Palestinians pre-1948 is also a history that we British now need to own. At root, this is not an Israeli-Arab problem: it is yet one more sorry story of British colonialism and the damage it did throughout the world.

A very hard watch. I often had to take refuge in my garden I was suffocating. Very honest and truthful account of this one devastating event in the Palestinian story, and its aftermath on people’s lives, livelihoods and their lands.

Israel has no good future unless they really revisit their post war history, overcome the endless victimhood ideology, and study the actual history of the Nakba. It’s all written down and memorised by many scholars in Israel and outside, sometimes by people who aren’t allowed to visit Israel, which includes even some Jews. All they have to do is read that history and reject and critically reevaluate all the revisions, the renaming, and the taboos. It really doesn’t mean to “undo” Israel, as some radical anti-Zionists and anti-Semites demand. But a great start would be to get rid of the Netanyahu clique, and actually make a ceasefire with Gaza and stop the revenge blood bath in Gaza, which is approaching now 10,000 dead Palestinians, more than 2000 children among them. That bloodbath in Gaza won’t bring back any one of the 1400-1500 Israelis who were massacred by Hamas on Oct 7.

I am not sure if I align with the idea but salute to their spirit.
I am a simple girl, so to me, this looks like: Israel having a terrorist attack ( an awful one) then retaliating against a whole nation and peoples, for the actions of one group of people. They declare war on Palestine, again displacing people that did no harm to them. Ordinary people don't want terrorism, on either side. The terrorists hold the people hostage there too.
Now Israel are just trying to escalate the situation, bombing Iran's Embassy, whilst they were not involved at all Iran was remaining neutral?! Iran gave a very conservative retaliation . They let Israel know they were launching missile, they knew full well that those missiles could be blown out of the sky. They actually gave advance warning, telling the, day and time frame. No one was hurt, Then Israel retaliated again, and again took lives. Iran's second retaliation they again showed restraint. They are clearly saying that we don't want war, but we cannot just let ourselves be attacked with no provocation whatsoever?!

Israel will win the military part of the fight but this time, the world is watching, and the hearts and minds part of the fight has gone to the Palestinian side, if this goes on much longer, the world that had always been behind them will start to doubt their claims to want to live in peace, and their right to exist in Palestine. There are two kinds of laws, the first we created to make our lives together easier, those are broken constantly without much consequences but the second kind, are laws of the universe, the respect for all life, the gratitude of being who we are, to have what we have and to be where we are, those laws cannot be broken for very long without having to pay for crimes against ourselves. The scene with the "tourist" speaker stand sound bite is SURREAL..... it felt like a part of a game or out of a movie. It's just mind blowing the level of the propaganda.
This video is somewhat misguided and one sided. Yes, there was a war. Yes, people were displaced. But missing is the backdrop: Lubia residents had been attacking nearby Jewish settlements for decades prior and were blocking the road to tiberias during the 1948 war. The israeli forces had no choice but to eradicate it in order to maintain control of Galilee. The nearby village of Dabouriya, which fought alongside Lubiya, signed a document of surrender and it stands to this day on the slopes of mount Tabor. Hence, villages which lay down their arms were spared and villages which were intractable were uprooted. Not to say that all of it was justified, but this was the general policy.
Beyond this apologetic explanation, displacement of civilians occured throughout the world and the middle east. All Jewish settlements captured by arabs in 1948 were similarly eradicated. So it is somwhat hypocritical to point fingers at Israel for prevailing in 1948. Displacement of civilians was the inevitable consequence of this, given the arab rejection of any Jewish presence.

.Everyone seems to have forgotten that before 1947 there was no Palestinian state, no Palestinian government, the country had been ruled during the previous years by the Ottoman Empire, the French and the British. In 1947 the UN offered a two state solution, dividing the country, giving one part to Jews and the other part to the Arabs. The Jews agreed to this offer and the Arabs said NO and the surrounding Arab countries opened war against Israel. When there is war, people get displaced, which is what happened in some arab villages. The Arab side launched a war to dispossess the Jewish owners of land, people who by this criterion had exactly the same rights. This attempt failed, and the outcome was the expulsion of the perpetrators. Yes, innocent people were harmed in the process, this is inevitable in any war. But presenting it as premeditated ethnic cleansing is pure hypocrisy - ethnic cleansing was the stated goal of the Arab side in 1947-48.
