@Jenny Absolutely true about most men. It seems to me that aging has a "rough" or "hard" look and men carry that look off well, women don't by any means.
🤣 my 8 year old says stuff like that about people we see, but he's loud enough they can hear😩😆. Kids are honest, but dang he can embarrass the heck out of me lol
🌟 Thank for remembering us in the over 40 range. The needs are so different for us and rarely addressed. Much appreciated ❤️ hoping you are safe and well 🌟
I'm 34 and I feel like I should be contouring this way. I have fine lines on my forehead and some wrinkles. My daughter says it looks like I barely have makeup on...that's the point! She's used to these young girls going way overboard with it. I'm so glad for Wayne!☺️
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s Wayne Goss...then there’s “gurus”. Take head beauty community, you’re watching an actual pro in motion! 💯💖
Technically, a "guru" means teacher, and is meant to be respectful. So the likes of Wayne Goss, Lisa Eldridge, Robert Welsh, are the real gurus, while the usual "gooroos" are just posers.
I have been a makeup artist for 30 years. The fundamentals of makeup and art never change and you are brilliant at teaching them! I always enjoy your lessons!
I’m curious. Given your experience, do you have any information about Wayne’s actual professional makeup artist career outside of social media/UA-cam? When I Google his name, he has no professional website nor is there anything written about him with actual clients or a business of his own (besides his makeup brush launches after he had millions of UA-cam subs). I find that to be very suspicious. I believe that he has made up his background to gain subscribers and his pocketbook. No true MUA buys every single color of many different brands of foundations. That’s ridiculous as the shelf life is so short. He never uses spatulas, anything that would have been depotted into a container, use different shades and mixers to get just the right shade. No celebrity clients on his channel. Lisa Eldridge actually has true experience and written proof of her clientele/high profile jobs.
@@NYandAZ it's right there on Wikipedia. Just read his Career Background entry. It's not sus to be a self-taught artist, trained professionally, and work as an MUA for a small client base. Most of the beauty guru's on YT have no professional training, and have learned on their own faces. I don't understand why his credentials are in question.
Honestly you and Lisa Eldridge are the only beauty channels I trust and follow cause you guys are actually professionals and do the best makeup which is so natural!! ❤️
“ Four fingers on the forehead, you really need to contour... Five fingers, there’s a problem...” Ahahahaha!!! So completely true and I have that problem. I think us mere mortals confuse bronzer with contour. Is it safe to say that contour colors are cooler toned (regardless of complexion color) versus bronzer colors which are always warmer? What a wonderfully talented and kind soul you are.... Thank you for sharing your expertise and time with us so generously. Please know that you are appreciated and loved. ❤️
@Zainab Nuzhan Be thankful! Hair is such a very good thing;) You spend your first 25 years wishing away every hair on your body, and then for the rest of your days, you’re buying serums hoping to regrow some... Hard to believe, but entirely true - at least for me.
Yes you are correct- youbtubers and these instagram peeps are to much with her 5000 pounds of product and 18,000 products😂 contour and highlighting is good for editorial purposes - those on film often - I personally think bronzing is a lot more flattering, natural looking - I cannot use cool tone contour powders on my face they look muddy and I do believe that there are some people out there where that’s the case. I’m 58 so I’m glad that I didn’t learn how to do my make up from Instagram or UA-cam because I can assure you there’s gonna be a lot of these perpetrators that are going to look back five and 10 years from now and look at those Neapolitan stripes that they drew on their face and go what the heck was I thinking- well since everybody copies everybody everybody was doing it!
@@di3486 I don't understand this comment. Drag queens are doing it for art form etc, if every drag queen would contour the same it would be boring as hell.... Trixie matell wouldn't be Trixie without her contour.
I haven’t reach 40 yet, but at 36 I know that it’s coming quickly. Thank you for this wonderful tutorial for mature skin. I’m unsure why I’m just discovering you, but I have now watched a few of your videos, and have to say you’re already my fave beauty creator on here! No drama, nice, funny, and VERY talented!!
....40 here and have never contoured or done anything like a "UA-camr" (aside adopting some of your classic techniques, of course...haha). The entire exaggerated/overdone "looks" of the past decade never appealed to me. *shoulder shrug* I'm more of an Audrey Hepburn/Monica Bellucci kind of gal as far as personal makeup "style" goes. Still gettin' carded...! Thanks for being fantastic, Wayne.
_Cries in mandatory face mask_ 😢😷 I only wear makeup now when I go to work. I spend an average 12 hrs per workday in a mask. I've now given up on the lower half of my face, and just focus on the eyes, up. I'll give this technique a go on the exposed areas of my face.
I've honestly stopped wearing makeup since this pandemic started I think I've only done a full face of makeup twice. The mask wearing really does kill the makeup mood.
Yeah, just do skin care and eyes. I barely even do under eye concealer. I don’t want my mask rubbing product into my skin all day. Honestly, I think we are going to be wearing masks for the foreseeable future. I’m fine with it. I haven gotten a viral infection of any kind.
baby, just think how moist your face will be, under the mask... go in with skincare anti-acne product & you can hit the e posed areas with some blush I started doing a cute thing, under my glasses, where I run the apricot blush into my eyelids, contour the eye with correct shade, hit the cheek ridge with a bit of highlighter... & done right, it is actually attractive & fresh-looking over the stark, draining mask 😷
You make me happy to be “me.” As a woman, I constantly feel insecure. People say “oh, you’re so pretty.” I don’t feel pretty, but you help give me the confidence that makes me feel more secure, as a woman in my later thirties. Thank you for helping all of us women to feel “beautiful,” even though we’re exhausted and always feel tired. 💜💕
It’s been close to ten years since I’ve worn makeup on the regular. But now I’m BACK BABY!!! And man it’s all different now! As a 42 year old I feel a lot of the tutorials on YT are not for people my age. So THANK YOU SO MUCH. I actually learned something today!!! AND I feel pretty!!
Also, I love your outlook on makeup! Telling us that there’s nothing wrong with your nose or your hooded eyes, it’s a message that other makeup UA-camrs should stress! Much love!
J K that’s what I was thinking. If you go into sunlight with all that on the face it’s going to look awful, especially for mature skin. All that powder! Not good for me.
I’ve got a confession: I’ve worn Wayne’s lipstick in Lotus everyday for a month now. I think I’ve got a problem. I can’t stop 🤣 I wish that he put an eye winking on the packaging though, that would have topped it off. It should be his little trademark.
I just love Wayne! I’ve learned so much about makeup from him. No drama, no distractions, just goes right to it and explains everything beautifully. ❤️❤️❤️
There weren't a ton of things my mother was able to teach me about makeup, but this was one of them + I still use it today. I also feel it warms up the skin enough to where I only need minimal (if any ) bronzer.....but that could be just me 🤷♀️
'You've nothing wrong with your nose' I hope young people would remember that and don't have no need to contour their beautiful nose at least too much. Dimension really is a key word when talking make up for us over 40's Thanks Wayne!
Wayne, you’re one of the most DTE, real makeup artists on YT. You , Lisa Eldridge & a handful of others, are in a league of your own. You know your trade, your considerable training & knowledge shows, you don’t over complicate application & always strive to enhance a person’s natural beauty. I adore how you tailor your info to suit varied age groups. What works for a 20 something clearly won’t for a 40+ person. I really appreciate your easy-to-follow guides & you come across as a warm & likeable person. No fare fan, no ego, just sound advice & stellar techniques. Love you, Wayne! 💕
Thank you for being so good at explaining what you are doing and also saying why. I usually do crazy harsh black and white goth looks and only had makeup for ballet as a kid so having tutorials that are for adults instead of teens and young adults and all useful info is so valuable.
You're the only youguber I watch anymore. Not only do you behave like a normal human and stay out of all the childish shenanigans, you give realist beautiful tips and breakdowns of them. I absolutely appreciate you for it all. ×
This technique is great! I’m going to give it a try. As a woman, I must say you look more beautiful than most of us after you are done with your makeup!😂
I have never understood why we stopped doing makeup like this on UA-cam. The whole stripes thing on the cheeks has always driven me nutty. I'm so glad you are still looking at makeup as though it should accentuate the natural lines of a person's face! It's so much more of a gentle/subtle look.
This has been one of my favorite makeup tutorials during Covid. For the pass 2 months I have been buying makeup and skin care trying to come up with a technique that works on my 63 year old skin. My main issue was looking to made-up or sweating it off in an hour. This technique worked ..really! No raccoon eyes, and color stayed in place for 8 hours and counting. Thank you Wayne! See attached results after 6 hours if wear and no touch- ups.
Some of my best makeup tips I learn right here ; when I go out people tend to think my makeup was done professionally lol. I owe it all to this beautiful man right here .
Thanks to you and quarantine, I’m now a pro at doing my makeup! So glad I found you! Now that I’m 30, and never been into makeup, I think it’s about time I learned! Thanks!!
omg..thank you wayne for teaching me how to apply my makeup flawlessly&professionally. I use to do my makeup like a youtuber and i use to get some really bad remarks. Those youtuber guru's really cannot apply makeup correctly at all. Not only have u taught me to waer my makeup flawlessly, but i get tons of compliments daily &they are all positive now. I feel great knowing i can watch all your videos and know i am being taught right. You are truely a gem in the makeup community
I have struggled with self image all of my life, first as the daughter of an emotionally and physically abusive malignant narcissist mother that liked to humiliate and denigrate my appearance as a way of feeling better about herself- the usual story of eating disorders and cPTSD amongst other things as a result- to now, as a mother of 9 at 56 who has done a TON of healing work on myself, I'm finally venturing into the world of 'perhaps I *can* truly rock *myself* in a way that makes me happy. These beautiful videos are a big part of me thinking that perhaps I *can* experience feeling awesome on my OWN terms even as I 'age' according to the youth obsessed culture. Yaaaaaay!! I refuse to give up my waist length green hair for ANYONE'S opinion about what's 'age appropriate'. :D
Yaaas! The best mature skin tutorial I’ve seen. Personally, I don’t like a lot of blush on the apples of the cheeks. It’s not flattering for my face shape, and it makes me look like Santa Clause
I’ve had rosecea for years so I don’t need it. I can’t imagine putting this much make up on though. I feel like it would just crease. I’m a tinted moisturizer with some concealer kind of girl :)
It's funny that you say that because I try to do my blush like others and it just doesn't look right the only thing that does look right is putting it on the apples of my cheeks LOL.. the darn good thing that faces are all different it would be so boring if it wasn't
I don’t do that either . I put blush high up in the back of my cheekbones. Looks more mature . ( But I also have Scandinavian features, so mine are high , tapered and angular. )
You don't need to contour b unless you're going out at night or performing. In the daylight it will look like dirt. I'm 43. Use less makeup than more if you want to look younger.
Turned 50 this year although ppl tell me I don't look it, I feel it some days. Thank you Ivory & Dove when I was younger for keeping my skin youthful. I appreciate your over 40 tutorials. Good tips bc when I put layers of foundation, concealer, brighter, contour, bronzer and blush on, I think it ages me... looks too heavy.
100% agree.. as I'm 60 less is definitely better.. so much so that I I now just use 2 shades of foundation.. Since Covid even light full makeup looks wrong.. Wayne just did a video where he puts his blusher on first under foundation...I'm definitely trying thst tomorrow.. Plus I now use mineral foundation.. bare mineral.. Or Laura Geller.. Balance & Brighten..or my fav her Balance and Glow.. All these look so natural yet cover nicely.. x
This is life-changing for me, I will try this the next time I do my makeup (whenever that is haha). BTW, I live for the wink at the end of your videos. 😉
This is the best contouring tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you so much for doing it, and I can’t wait to try it tomorrow morning! I always have the hardest time with my nose, trying to get it to look more narrow. I know this is kind of random, but you are very handsome.😀
Thank you for making videos that are targeted to a more mature demographic. The same things that work for a 21 year old, don’t work for me. You’re so helpful. Thanks 😊
I LOVE this guy! Not only is he easy on the eyes, he has the very best tips than anyone! I learn something new on every video. He is a wonderful teacher!
I never wore eyeshadows before. I started watching your videos and decided to play and experiment with eyeshadows. I know love wearing and experimenting with eyeshadows. I'm 49 years old and I watch your videos every day. I found you accidentally on UA-cam and now must watch one on your videos every day. Thank you 🤗
You have so much light within you that surpass the camera and comes straight to us, you are a very delightful, loving, polish, respectful and polite person that makes enjoyable, pure and full of light every video you make. Thank you! Your charisma, poise, skills are greatly appreciated, we are all of your fans very grateful and thankful for your candor, professionalism and for having you in our lives!
I was laughing when you talked about the forehead - my husband says I have a "fivehead" instead of a "fourhead" - I just wear bangs to cover it up. :-D
I say the same about mine. I first heard Tyra Banks day it and embrace hers when. I was teen. I then decided it was ok to grow out my bangs (I never liked them, but I used them to hide). That term gave me confidence.
I had an "aha moment". You set your face with powder before baking. This makes so much sense. As a woman of color, if you bake incorrectly, it creates flashback & big light spots under your eyes. Thank you, thank you for sharing some great techniques. Cheers 😀🌺
I think you are the best teacher ever!! Changed my life in terms of make up. started doing it, after to many years I didn't. Life kids work and all that jazz.. I totally forgot how much I'm loving it. It's the time I take for myself just for the joy of it
So crazy you post this because I was just googling the other day for tutorials on countouring tips over the age of 40, and literally found nothing! Thank you for this...... and for reading my mind! 😂
I love you! That is all. My hubby buys your brushes for me every Christmas. Love, love, love!!! I’ve learned so much from you. Been watching you for YEARS!!!!!
Very true...i have watched many of these videos and never saw myself doing it but with his videos I can relate and I have used a few of his tips already
Boy I tell ya in my opinion you are the BEST makeup artist world wide!! NO ONE has the skill and the techniques you have that are always original and game changing! NO ONE compares! I've been watching you for years and years and. have found you to be the most professional and non problematic as well 💘 💘 💘
OMG ur video is a god send. I'm 36 n never really got the hang of putting on makeup. The way u explained it made it so much clearer. I've watched so many videos n its always so hard to keep up with all the contour lines I've given up. I think ill be able to contour my face now. Thank u so much
Hey Dearie! I'm digging your quarantine beard and hair but then you make it all look so damn sexy. I'm in my early 40's so thanks for helping me tweak the process.
Your "aw shucks" is still adorable. You are so talented. I Love how you can go from minimalist to dramatic, with great balance. I've learned about contouring the most from this channel.
I am responding to this 2 years later. I love that you show how to contour for folks over 40. I am 56 and fair with rosacea, I have a difficult time finding the right shade for highlight and contour. I also have a hard time finding a good green color corrector for my redness. Bronzers are impossible for me. Anyway...Thanks for sharing your talent and knowledge!
Wayne you are why I've been getting compliments for YEARS on my makeup while in my twenties. I will be 30 soon. Thank you for teaching me SKILLS and SKINCARE Sir.
I just turned 45. I have freckles and I love them. I've never really done foundation because it mutes my freckles too much. I have used physicians formula multi colored pressed powder to even out the skin. I try and use a little bronzer to conture but not real sure I'm doing anything. Can you give a tutorial for freckled skin?
Try bb or cc creams they are sheer and allow some freckles to show through I use concealer to cover blemishes but when I use fingers to spread it out then a damp beauty blender to smooth it I can still see some freckles and my beauty mark
Wayne Goss is a genius at applying makeup for all types of women. I love the way he explains everything in detail and actually shows you how to apply your makeup in such an easy way, but yet it always looks amazing! Wayne has a gift for helping women of all ages and we are so happy to take his advice! I would much prefer Wayne as my makeup artist rather than a typical everyday look. He has incredible knowledge of what types of skin care would look best on you ! I watch his videos very frequently and I am pleased with the advice and actual video as to how to apply and look amazingly fantastic! Thank you Wayne for sharing your great ideas for all of us who are over 60!
Wayne, you are the BEST!. I use to watch you a long time ago with a different account that I closed and I am so glad I found you again. I resubscribed with the bell.
I am a 60 yr old male that would like to start wearing makeup. However when I watch tutorials I feel overwhelmed and feel so frustrated and inadequate by comparison. If I tried doing this it would end in frustrating disaster
I can relate. Learning to do makeup is a journey; it requires a lot more practice than one would think but it’s so worth it. Wayne is a great teacher 🥰 I’ve learned a lot from him, and look forward to being creative and doing my makeup every day. Remember you can do as much or as little as you want, you can start with something like a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer or sunscreen, you don’t have to do full foundation and contour right off the bat. Have fun with it! A good set of brushes is critical to flattering makeup.
I love Wayne thank you I’m 39 and I was thinking about this a little while now, how I noticed that my most stunning pictures are of days I used less layers ,minimal highlighting and more skin tone/natural/bronzy/pinky /cool shades ❤️👍💄💋🔥
Positive creators always attract a positive community. I feel safe on this side of the beauty community.
Love the positive, professional, classy community who's too mature for teenybopper drama.
Super comment
Yes this is the most genuine space and gentleman. Great community. You hit the nail on the head!
Right, because that other side is crazy 😜 lol

Wayne is the best, period. Love his expertise, cute sense of humor and big lack of drama. Could watch these all day
I have watched these all day.
Am I the only one loving Wayne's new look? Love the longer hair. Good looking gentleman...😉
He looks so handsome. Always has been but looks so darn good.

Indeed!!
He looks stunning 😍

Absolutely. Classic old school makeup rules .
I love that you talk about the changes with aging skin and give us knowledge to help us look our best. Have a lovely day.
I am 53 and I have always used blush the way young people contour these days. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. do Wayne💓
I’ve started putting blush where I bronze- there’s something flattering & youthful about it!

I'm 70 years old! I don't contour. I have enough hollows!😂
You’re stunning
I'm 74 years and 9 months Leah. I just aim the makeup at my face, hit and hope. ROFL. Wayne's a star!
You look beautiful.
@@susie7336 Thank you for the kind words❤
@@susie7336 Thank you so much.....❤
This technique is great! I’m going to give it a try. As a woman, I must say you look more beautiful than most of us after you are done with your makeup!😂
Love watching your tutorials but im being honest and dont like the lighting going on in the video,i wish you would come a little closer.
I have never understood why we stopped doing makeup like this on UA-cam. The whole stripes thing on the cheeks has always driven me nutty. I'm so glad you are still looking at makeup as though it should accentuate the natural lines of a person's face! It's so much more of a gentle/subtle look.
Honestly they best channel every!!!! I’m actually learning something. Such classic technique!
Me sittine here with all my fingers on my forehead thinking "damn i really need to contour" 😂
Same! 🙈💜
No one needs to contour.
Me too 😂
Just cut a fringe/bangs 🤣
Apparently I've got a problem!! 😳😁
I reached 50 this year! Love you Wayne! You are adorable! 😘✨💚✨
I turn 40 in October, I really, really appreciate the effort you put in to helping us not look like cakey messes.
I love the painterly approach to makeup. Thanks for the tutorial!
This was an excellent video. You are an excellent teacher and truly a joy to watch 🙂
I think you're looking fabulous! Quarantine suits you! (...and your sense of humor is always a joy.)
( But I also have Scandinavian features, so mine are high , tapered and angular. )
I love his no nonsense approach. No bs no putting on any act-just here to teach and inform. No frills no drama. So refreshing!
Ahhhh the good ol tissue blotting trick !! I remember your video about this from YEARS ago
Yes. I did this in the mid 90’s. Very effective!
Turned 41 recently and have never tried contouring. Going to try this method ❤
You don't need to contour b unless you're going out at night or performing. In the daylight it will look like dirt. I'm 43. Use less makeup than more if you want to look younger.
I was watching you 5-6years ago...and yet your content is still relatable to me 🤩 coz I am now over 40. Love you makeup tutorials.
Wayne you’re a breath of fresh air. You’re absolutely lovely.
"It looks so much more jolly when it's angled." I love him.
Ohmygosh I never thought to put on the contour first and then put on foundation!! That is so helpful! It looks so much better that way! Thank you!
That's because foundation covers up what's beneath it. This makes no sense to do.
So thankful because I’m 44 and I need you in my life! Sending lots of love! You’re looking stunning as usual, just FYI!
Don't use as much makeup as he shows. It emphasises lines. I'm 43.
Wayne just proves he looks just as good without makeup as he does with it.
I could spend hours and hours listening to your advice and .... improving my english, too. Kisses from Italy
Wayne, I've been watching you for probably 11 years. You're wonderful. I'm so glad to watch you through all the changes. Much love.
Thank you 🤗
Thank you for this video! It’s a challenge trying to find makeup advice and tutorials for us over 40!
That's mean!
I feel you. I have acres of prime fivehead real estate myself! 😂
Same 😂
My bf calls his a "Tenhead" 🤣🤣 I tell him that he's not receding ~ He's just growing more head 🤣🤣
Cheers 😀🌺
Unless you're oily, baking just dries out your skin. Powder absorbs. Most people should never bake.
“What you blend, extends!” Remember this Wayne Goss quote from an old video!🤣
I think you are the best teacher ever!! Changed my life in terms of make up. started doing it, after to many years I didn't. Life kids work and all that jazz..
I totally forgot how much I'm loving it. It's the time I take for myself just for the joy of it
The best make-up artist on You Tube by far. 💙
You are a exceptional makeup artist. You give options and not many makeup artists feel this way. You rock!!!
You are so kind. And thank your lovely husband also, thank you both very very much xxx
“If you need to get in with your finger at the end...👀” Dead 🤣🤣
Just seeing the sparkle of your love for makeup on your face, makes me feel good.
Actually only few makeup tutorials on UA-cam are doable, the rest is just art work we should watch not copy 🥴🥴🥴 . I don't contour anyway
I've been watching you for years and years and. have found you to be the most professional and non problematic as well 💘 💘 💘
Wayne “you may need to go in with the finger afterwards”
Me “said the actress to the bishop!” Wayne gives his funny little look!! Love you Wayne ❤️❤️
Hahahahaha!! 😄👍🏼
I can hear my great-grandfather’s voice as I read your comment - he LOVED telling jokes like that.
Chaq x
Wayne actually says "If you need to go in with your finger _at the end?"_ Which is ever so much more cheeky!
Pretty sure he would still be handsome even if he picked his nose on camera.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Although I don’t have a beard, I can see what you’re doing. The trick is dapping off some of the oil...GOT IT 😉
I am responding to this 2 years later.
Lovely!! ❤ I thought I couldn't bake my undereyes if I'm 38 y.o., but I'm going to try! Thank you Wayne!! You are amazing!! 😘
I just want to say you are my favorite beauty guru on UA-cam because you are so real and explain things properly.
Totally going to refer to my blusher as "jolly" in future 😊
I thought that was the cutest! Bc...yeah! Blush should be jolly! :-)
That was the best tip for me! Lol
Love this tutorial - yours are always the best (especially for mature faces). Thank you very much, incredibly helpful.
Practice makes perfect ! You can do it, we all had to start somewhere
I have to say I never successfully contoured before this tutorial. The simplicity is its brilliance.
I'm LOVING the beard!!!!🥰
so refreshing. A tutorial that does what I expect-teach and NO DRAMA. Thanks
I love Wayne thank you I’m 39 and I was thinking about this a little while now, how I noticed that my most stunning pictures are of days I used less layers ,minimal highlighting and more skin tone/natural/bronzy/pinky /cool shades ❤️👍💄💋🔥
Too much makeup just ages is in our 40's. You're right to keep it light and fresh.
Love it ! There’s nothing better than aging gracefully and beautifully! Thank you 🙏
