I never heard this version, with Joe Henderson playing. I'm used to Michael Brecker's version. Nice to find this!
Victor Lewis, Don Grolnick, and, Henderson 3,THREE,3 of the most over looked truly great jazz musicians. Oh hell Gomez geeeeez and Randy great mean bastard wow but the lost forgotten Grolnick
Not forgotten.
just came across this , doesn't get any better , was looking up Don Grolnick and found this quintet of absolute giants , every musician giving a clinic here.

Don was off the charts brilliant
One of many great musicians who left us too soon. I always have his writing and playing. Thx for posting.

The hardest thing about playing this tune is holding back tears on the out head if you let this amazing tune and the people who have played it get into your psyche.
Wow-the writing! Not to mention great playing. Don really had his own voice.
joe is on fire!
masterpiece
Incredible performance. Grolnick and Joe!
Wonderful! What a dynamite group of musicians! Thx for posting !
Superlative. No slight to all the masters on this performance to state my opinion that it is Eddie Gomez's creativity that truly vault theres others into the stratosphere.
Nice Asiatic Raes reference at the end of Joe's solo that Don picked up on!
Inusual Quintet ! 10 / 10

did don grolnick write this as his own threnody? thanks for the great music, don
🌸💚🌱😃
Don Grolnick looks like Rick Davies the keyboard player for Supertramp
Not sure if the sax or trumpet... but one of them was not precisely in tune when playing together...a little flat
It is sometimes unpredictable with tuning. Temperature on stage, the piano tuning -these really
affect the the intonation on jazz gigs. It´s not like a temperature controlled concert hall
used for classical music. They played wonderful music from their innermost selves that´s
what it´s all about.
