    What's your go to SAM to use in DCS World?

      I'm old school so I'm going with the "venerables"
      1. SA-2 "Guideline"
      2. SA-6 "Gainful"
      3. SA-8 "Gecko"
      4. SA-7 "Grail"

      @@Tamburello_1994 solid choices. The 8 can be a real pain, had a lot of close calls in the F-5 against them.

    Chopsticks, I noted that many times when you fly with the Reapers you are in the Northrop F-5 E and I myself like the F-5 as I worked at Northrop Aircraft from 1976 through 1986. My Father worked a Northrop starting in 1953 on the old F-89 Scorpion so I have a special place in my heart for Northrop Aircraft. The main reason I'm writing this is to ask you do you think the F-5 module will ever be upgraded?

    • @DCSChopsticks
      @DCSChopsticks  2 роки тому +1

      It's such a fun plane to fly, shame they haven't updated it to a slightly more capable variant.
      I bet your father has some good stories. Cap does interviews with ex-service personal if he wants to share any.
      I doubt that it will be updated as I think Belsimtek who made the module is now just part of ED. So more likely to be working on other aircraft. But never say never with DCS 🤣

    Do you have to site (or point) the radars to cover where you want to then?

      Yes. They can only search in the yellow area. If you cant see that then toggle the button in the top right to turn on that overlay.

    thank you Chopsticks :)
    Do you have any hints for placement? There are numerous sites provide even photographic evidence of Russian SAM systems, while there is very little information on how a Patriot system is actually deployed in a field. I am not seeking classified information of course, but a general guide on how to set it up, as realistic as we can have it in DCS. Thank you again

      As far as real life I have not researched placements, but when I place them in DCS, I just make sure that the STR is facing the expected enemy direction with a clear line of sight. As the site can track 9 missiles outbound at once, I would as that's how many launchers to add to the site. Don't forget to place these in range of a resupply truck.
      They are for a missile shield and anti-aircraft role, so I would place them near key airfields/cities. Not really a frontline SAM.

      @@DCSChopsticks Thanks for answer. I usually create reverts and stick a launcher and a truck in each... Thanks again. :)

    Ok question..under USA and next to the "patriot" column, there's a circle with a dash...I hit that a few times and now I can't find anything under usa...any idea how to get those back? I reset and unsaved everything...and nothing. Thanks..

      So you have deleted the templates by the sound of it. A repair of DCS should fix it. Or you can download a new template from the DCS user files site. Or you can make your own Patriot Group and save it a as a template (which is what I normally do)

    Hey, this tutorial series is extremely helpful, thank you so much! I tried to replicate placing the patriot site, but it appears that I do not have all of the templates shown in your editor. Are those custom, or is my build broke? 😅

    • @DCSChopsticks
      @DCSChopsticks  2 роки тому

      Well, since reinstalling DCS, I no longer have them. You can get some from the ED forum or make your own. I think it all changed a few updates ago.

      @@DCSChopsticks so they deleted their own templates or what? Why would they be doing this ^^
      I got the "realistic templates" one from the forums already, saldy it is missing stuff like the rapier and hawk sights.

    • @DCSChopsticks
      @DCSChopsticks  2 роки тому

      I dont know. They have been going through and updating them. Its best you make your own, then you can set them out however you like. I usually do a small clump so that i can move each unit more easily after using the template.

      Sometimes they get removed with game updates randomly. I usually have to make my own. Make a group, then save as a template.
