Can you make a video on how to do the quick selection (skin, highlights, shadows) without the panel?

Thank you for the video! I agree, that Tamara’s brushes and such are expensive. But they are worth it! I saved to buy them and I don’t regret it! I will also buy the panel 👏🏻 thank you for showing how you use it ❤️

      Absolutely! Thanks for watching 😊
My favourites are definitely the freckle brushes and catchlight brushes, lifesavers! 😁

Thanks for the great content. How does Tamara's panel compare to Retouching academy's, Have you compared them?

She's just redoing what other have already done way before her.. and she doesn't even Retouch herself.

What you just did, which of the 3 bundles did you use?
The basic, basic plus skin texture, or those 2 + the brushes?
    I'm guessing the 3rd option(most expensive one)?
Curious, as I'm looking to get more into beauty but are all the features necessary?
    For retouching specifically.
Do the brushes you used for the freckles come with the retouching panel?
Or do I need to purchase the bundle that's says "All brushes"?

    • @KayleighJune
      @KayleighJune  8 місяців тому

The bundles have just changed, but it would be the ‘Plug-in bundle’ that has the skin textures and brushes.
I think utilising both the textures and brushes are really helpful. If I had to choose one over the other for a beginner, I’d say skin texture as I feel a lot of beginners can struggle with Dodge and burn, and adding a bit of skin texture can really help with the skin retouching.
However the brushes are great, you have so many options to choose from including catchlights, eyelashes, hair, freckles and more. The freckle brushes are my favourite because they can add further skin texture and are perfect for enhancing freckled skin tones too. 😊

I love your videos and this is also great.
However, since its partly an ad, we'll have to at least be honest about it:
The panel does nothing some quick actions in photohsop cant do too. And for that its incredibly overpriced.
Also, if youve worked with Ps for a while, you wont get rid of your muscle memory. Like you did at 8:38, instead of using the panel, ill just go into the tools.
And the Brush tool is missing as well.
Apart from that: Great video as always, love your work

      Thanks so much for watching!
I feel I do have to disagree here though.
This video has only shown a small snippet of what this panel actually offers, and if you visit the in-depth video walkthrough by Tamara, you’ll see that there are plenty of other specialised features too.
This video is based on skin retouching primarily which is just one piece of the retouching process.
For me, (and I’m sure many other beauty photographers and retouchers,) the brush and pattern integration is invaluable. The fact that I can go straight to the panel and easily regain skin texture in an image, apply a new set of lashes, catchlights and other detailed elements is extremely efficient.
The way that all of these elements created specifically for beauty retouching work within the panel, makes my workflow so much more streamlined while still producing a high quality result.
So I have to disagree, it’s not similar to just adding a few actions, there’s far more benefit included here for professionals.

Her panel and tutorials are extremely expensive. Even her brushes are too expensive. Her work is very good but many can’t afford her product even with a 10% discount.

      I understand, I agree this won’t be something available for everyone’s budget/pricepoint.
However in terms of value I do believe they’re really quite good, there’s a minimum of 25 brushes for most of those brush sets, (some even have nearly 100 included in a set,) so there has been a great deal of time and effort on Williams Academy’s part to create them.
I know plenty of photographers who are charging a similar amount or more for their Photoshop actions, I guess people prioritise different things though and that’s okay.🤷‍♀️
Specifically for aspiring professional beauty photographers and retouchers, this is something I would absolutely recommend if their budget allows.

@@KayleighJune yes it’s a lot ! I am trying to perfect my beauty photography. I’ve purchased many of courses, actions and such but no one ever really tells you everything just enough to make you want to purchase more. I practice practice practice and never have similar or same results

    • @KayleighJune
      @KayleighJune  8 місяців тому +1

I totally get it, I’ve been through a similar process over the years too!
It’s not easy, but keep persevering! Practicing and experimenting will get you there eventually, even if you can’t see it happening now. All good things will come with time and effort, I truly believe that. 🙂

It's probably a great tutorial for those who want to indulge the money.. but it really comes off as a giant ad for someone else's software.. Should be labeled as an ad in the title and description

Without question, she has created a style that is highly recognizable. But most of the time your adjustments are too extreme for me. Naturalness is often lost. And why does every face have to get freckles even though the face originally doesn't have any? In this respect, I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of such extreme adjustments. But of course that is also a matter of taste. Mine is not 100% true

I like Kayleigh's work so much better, it looks natural and balanced, the other persons images are neat, but not what fashion or beauty clients want, the retouching is to strong.
