- A much mellower vibe than my usual, but I've been absolutely loving this song since it was released. It was haunting my dreams, and I decided to record a improvisational take when I was near my studio the other day and had an hour to spare. I didn't even have all my cameras with me, so you're getting a pretty raw recording here, but hopefully it's enjoyable for its Spartan production, for a change of pace.
The sound of the original Radiohead track may be a bit strange to your ears...their label for this album are being real sticklers and blocking any use of their songs (cover or otherwise) worldwide, so I had to detune their original track so it wouldn't be flagged. My drums aren't detuned, only the song behind the drums. Personally, I think it adds to the overall discordant feel. I also have a regular version (without the detuning) that is blocked, which I have submitted a copyright dispute. So maybe some day, if the label allows, that one will go live.
Thanks for watching, and if you feel so inclined please leave feedback and share.

This man is definitely playing drums. I can tell instantly.
+Benn Down With sticks, even.
+Benn Down Incidentally, he is also playing cymbals.
took me 5 minutes but i got it too now!
Nah, he loves the drums and is treating them with honesty and respect. He doesn't just hit it and quit it, and it is quite clear.
This song is still haunting my dreams...
You're absolutely amazing bro. Really appreciate all you do for our listening pleasure. You're unreal
Every pair of Danny's Sigs I bought splintered, rather fast and sorta randomly, from rim shots. You ever have that problem? I've never really had that occur with any other model from Vic Firth.
+BurnThePope The sticks I'm using in this video were a bit chewed up to begin with. Overall, I find that these sticks break less and are fairly durable in terms of rim shot splintering, but the acorn tips tend to fracture and split after playing not too long.
+johnkew for 7th time in repeat
Daydreamin is even more haunting
Great cover. But, holy fuck, how creative Phil is as a drummer. Almost every song with Radiohead has a fresh approach when it comes to drumming.
Phil is probably the most underrated part of the band, I rarely see ppl talk about him despite his contributions
Well, the drumbeat in Burn the Witch is from a drum machine, or otherwise synthetic. So I'm guessing despite that, Phil was still the one who programmed it? Or maybe he was playing an electronic kit...I don't know.
But yeah he's pretty good. I'd be hard-pressed to say whether he's more integral to Radiohead's sound than Thom, Jonny, and Ed though.
I think the rhythm in the song is pure genius. Can't sit straight or stand still when I hear this playing.
A moon shaped pool is a new masterpiece. Nice cover like always.
I started drumming a year and 3 months ago. when I first heard the song back then, I had absolutely no clue what the drummer was doing and I looked forward for the day I'm finally good enough to understand what's going on. a week ago I finally understood and I can't explain the hype I experienced when I played the song for the first time. Now I see your cover and I am absolutely astonishd! every note you played is just more than amazing. You totally read through the song correctly and put your own touches in the exact right places. something most drummers do not understand these days and the reason why you can proudly consider yourself,
a professional.
Regards, fellow drummer
P.S I rarely compliment a drum cover
Saw the title and thought "no way!" Fantastic song choice. Execution, superb as always.
I salute you for your sense of timing besides drumming.
Man, what an amazing surprise to see radiohead here. One of my favorite bands...
Great job as always!
Brilliant interpretation of a brilliant song - The drums sound fantastic - that snare has a real kick.
This is going to be on repeat until my brain and body can play this groove. Love it!
awesome cover man! I love it. it would be awesome to see more radiohead covers!
Smooth and solid bro! Cheers!
really cool playing dude. appreciate you work.
Wow! Very technical. Well executed. Ya nailed it dude.
I just love the vibe of this song.

This is the best thing ever
Buenísimo, saludos desde Argentina!
great playing, great song...i had a good time watching it
Dude, amazing
The beat reminds me of Rx Queen by Deftones
Yes! I thought the exact same thing. I didn't notice it until I heard the beat played on acoustic drums, though.
BRUH, I didn't realized untill I learned the main beat for RX Queen
How have I been so blind?
Sounds pretty bloody cool detuned in my opinion. Awesome job on the drumming too : )
+Joseph Buchan Thanks man! It took quite a few tries of manipulating the song so that it wasn't blocked.
@@johnkew I believe you could try again with the regular version since Radiohead uploaded a bunch of their stuff on UA-cam - some copyright restrictions may have been lifted.
excellent cover John bravo!
Beautiful.
INSANE!
I love it!!
just read the description. I too have had issues with this label. shot and edited a fan music video of videotape by radiohead and it was flagged as well. what are some labels you've had no issues with.
huge fan and I have showed the Right in two cover to a dozen friends now. keep it up man. :)
Fantastic

Way better than the original, congrats!
Wow.. I love this kind of progressive metal style to this song.
Uuhhh
Do what?
Great cover, as always! Can we expect you to cover another Tool song anytime soon?
i kinda prefer listening to this over the album version
Excelente...¡

I would love to hear the regular version! Please sell me the video :-D
excelente mate! as allways.
Do "blackest eyes" from Porcupine Tree
Any chance you have your tabs for the songs you cover? I'd like to play along with a lot of the videos you've put out
Linear phrases 🤟
love your new setup here sir. much beyter I would say than your past covers where it looks like your playing on your mom's guestroom hehe, sorry. either way nice drum playing ans looking forward to more covers like this from you.
Awe-fuckin-some man! \m/
Could you please do a cover of schism. Very interesting song on drums
+johnkew Where do you get your tracks from?
Can u do a drum cover of full stop. I really wanna see that.
Sick cover man! Try Like Suicide by Soundgarden next, please!
And now I know what it would sound like if Danny Carey joined Radiohead
Noice :)
Is the cymbal he's hitting with his right hand starting at 00:56 considered a top hat? Is it a tighter sound because it's physically tightened down more than other top hats?
That's a stacker, with a china on the bottom and a crash on top.
+johnkew cool, didn't even see they were together until 01:15. I like the sound. Similar to the one that you control with your left foot but slightly different sound.
Are you going to do any of the other more complicated songs on the album?
+Lord Casodi I wanted to do this as a change of pace, as most of what I play would be considered complicated. I doubt I'll play any more from this album, but I won't dismiss it as a possibility.
This is true. Nice work as always though. Lost my sh*t when I saw you doing a cover of a radiohead song.
dude, you gotta do a song from The Smile.
Excellent. Try covering packt like sardines?
I think I will download the "drums only", overlap it with the original and save it for my personal enjoyment.
Watching shit like this only makes me wish I had a band to play with.
do you happen to have the tabs?
Whhoooooowhat is your snare?
Please.
That's an odd time sig in the chorus section... What is it? three and two thirds to the bar? Bloody odd.
i think the whole song is in 4/4
smiley face !
Whoever is in charge of Radiohead's music is really cracking down on UA-cam. There are very few studio tracks of past albums on UA-cam, even. It's just live versions (which I honestly don't mind but I do like going to the studio versions).
+Cruz Avila it's xl records. radiohead are pretty bitchy about their stuff being shared on the internet for free as well without their consent..
+João Marques It just seems really weird they're doing it now. There was quite a lot of stuff on here years even before TKOL. They've even taken down some live performances.
+Cruz Avila they were on parlaphone which was bought by Universal, I think. In Rainbows was self-released on the internet with the pay what you want model and later physically distributed by someone which I dunno who. King of Limbs had some publisher as well which I don't know as well and I cba search for it right now. For this record they changed to Matador, from XL Records, they even took down digital releases on amazon and re-released it a few days later. Matador is smaller than Universal so they probably have a lot of control over their own contract, since Radiohead is a huge name, and having free streaming of their music is a bigger hit on the revenue of a smaller publisher than on Universal, adding the fact that Thom Yorke hates streaming all together unless it's a company that actually pays them decent royalties. Apple and Google might have upped what they pay artists and I assume Tidal pays decently because of how fucking expensive it is. I don't know if they got it on Spotify already, but I assume not.

0.007 cents per listen is pretty low. Calling them Nazis like Thom Yorke did is a bit too much, but if this is what they get, I can understand why he's mad at it.
can it be that Phil hitting the snare kind of wrong actually suits their music? pretty weird.
You play it like you are in a metal band that cover Radiohead...
some .... Muse?
+Augusto Sweetz Assassin !
11/8 5/8 ?
4/4
You are namazing
Is in 4/4?
+Matias Rodriguez Yes, 4/4
The 14 (currently) who down voted this are soulless zombies with no taste.
