    • @imrehundertwasser7094

Yep, but it's written as Hure. Which is a bit of an oldfashioned swearword nowadays. There are more common words to basically call a woman a prostitute, like "Nutte". Or people can just go for the basic genital swearwords that in English mostly have four letters.

  • @7ThisIsNotMyRealName

My grandmother told me a story about a German nurse who had a hard time pronouncing English. Often times she would confuse three for dritt, much to the amusement of her classmates (she grew up in a Norwegian community). I was told that dritt = shit in Norwegian. Is that not the case anymore? To be fair, this would have happened in the 60's-- about 80 years after her family immigrated to the United States.

I've got a lot linguistically out of this video over the past year! Have seen it many times.
One random feature: use of "din" rather than "du" -- particularly in insults ("din kødd"), but maybe also in the national anthem ("din store Gud").
I think it's actually an old "vocative" case, sort of. Genitive used as vocative anyway.
I've never seen an explanation for why it doesn't exist in the plural -- why you wouldn't say "deres drittsekker" if insulting more than one person, for instance.

Hey Sunny in german there exist a word called "Jawohl" which sounds a bit like jævel (in speech). The funny part is that it is mostly used in military speech. If a commander give an order to a soldier, he has to confirm by "jawohl". :D FYI: jawohl means, "yes I got it".

    • @sognsvann3
      @sognsvann3 7 років тому

Marcelo Suchaneko as a Norwegian we understand swedish, but the swede will maybe not understand and Danish if the Danes speak a little bit slower an don't use so many numbers(oral) written is no problem - norway spend 500 years together with our neighbours until 1905. Finnish is absolute no similarities, but they learn swedish in finland, so I could speak to finn 3 weeks after she arrived in norway and have done a short landuage course. we hear much swedish music in norway and saw swedish children show when we was kids, it is not the other way around.

Bit of a late comment, not sure if this is passe for youtube or not, but eh..
Your video made my day. Hearing the words and accent again, it made me happy and sad. It's been so long since I've even heard a simple takk or faen, I'd take either meant in sincerity with the same gratitude. I was just connecting with an older Swede I know, we were talking and he dropped a slightly unfamiliar slang. Looked the word up later, and I got here somehow. Internet works in strange ways eh? Anyway, can't let the old bastard know some girl I don't know made me tear up from just talking. I am a halfbreed: father was Norwegian. I haven't had a chance to speak or hear my mother tongue in.. Sorry. Rambling. Your eyes are the same color as mine, heh. Have a good day, pretty one; you've made mine better. I'll have to look at more if your vids.

I really want a bit of a tour of Norway. You said you haven't seen much of your own country so maybe you could see some and show us? It's a bit of work but it would be great.
Or show us some more of your film making creativity, I really enjoy your skits that you make.

I remember a few years ago, I visited Oslo for a few weeks. (I'm from the US). Walking around, someone knocked into me as I was walking and, I definitely got cussed out! lol. My Norwegian friend was with me so, he translated it. I can't say it here but, it wasn't very nice.

Satan is the same in English, Norwegian and German but we would say "zum Teufel" or "Teufel nochmal" when we swear. (Teufel is Devil; djevelen igjen!)
"Hore" is spelled Hure in German and spoken just the same as in Norwegian.
Drittsekk is "Drecksack" in German which translates to dirtbag and that is used in English, too.
The funny thing is that it all sounds so nice and cute when you say it in Norwegian. I should go to Norway to get sweared at. ;-)

Faen also means “The Devil”, as in Satan. And jævla means “devil”, as in “a devil”. Thought it was a shame that these fun facts were missing from the explanations :)
    (en.wiktionary.org/wiki/faen#Norwegian_Bokmål, en.wiktionary.org/wiki/jævla#Norwegian_Bokmål)
Perhaps if Norwegians didn’t butcher their spelling just because they don’t feel like learning how to spell they would have a better sense of the etymology of their language ... Greetings from a sarcastic Dane - I love you, Norway
