My grandmother had a W124 300TE wagon that was a tank, a true Mercedes. We'd take it to the beach every weekend and load it to the brim with surfboards, sand would get everywhere, etc. I loved sitting in the rear-facing seat in the back. We used the hell out of that car, but after a good vacuum the blue interior was always good as new, and it never had any major mechanical issues. It also withstood the humid, wet Hawaii weather like nothing else.
Sometime later she traded "up" to a W203 C230 wagon similar to this one. She treated it just like her W124. Within months, the door panels were falling off and the panels on the back of the seats fell off. Window switches stopped working, etc. One day, she had a thermos in the shitty cupholder, it must've been too heavy for the cupholder and fell, taking the cupholder with it. Water leaked into the floor and fried the electronics. Not to mention the paint rusted pretty badly.
I wish she kept the W124 so I could've had it as my first car. The W203 sits in the carport now, rusting away.
I have a 2005 Mercedes C-Class, taken care of the car will run for miles on miles, not taken care of, the car will fall apart. I have 155k miles on mine, and it runs like a dream, and nothing is broken nor dysfunctional. I love the car and thinking about buying another! Also I feel that the cars you review are not taken care of and need some attention.
My mom owns a '02 C240 w/ 112k miles. runs great, the roof material is beginning to sag, otherwise very reliable. The two gripes I have, 1. The glove box opens into your lap 2. you can't use foglights in the "auto" setting
The W203 from 2005 made a refresh and its absolutely fun to drive..the seats are also very comfortable. Im 5,11 and over 95kg.
The car that you are reviewing was not well taken care of and its the first version of the W203 model.As i said Go for the refresh model.
We Used To Have This Car Before We Got Our New Toyota Sienna Van Since 2015.
The facelift models of the W203 were far better in build quality, styling and overall reliability. I prefer the interior of the facelift W203 vs the pre-facelift W204 which looked like a Chrysler inside. All MB cars are rock solid in feel though, even in their downtime MB cars never failed to feel solid.
as someone whose owned a w203 and w202, i'd disagree with you. I think the w203 is a solid upgrade from the w202.

I bought a 2005 C 220 Diesel in 2022 with 330.000 km on it. It's indestructible.

i sat in a w203 2003 with 129k miles. the interior felt sticky, as if it was melting.
They should sell the current gen C Class Wagon here in the U.S.

How does a V6 have so little power?
It's only a 2.6L & it was first used in 98 and stayed the same till 05. Prior to 2000, it was on par & or exceeded the power of other V6 engines of the same size even of greater displacements In some cases. In 04, it was pathetic & it is why MB discontinued it shortly after.

The facelift w203 is so far ahead of this it's like a efferent car.. Styling and power
Intechdude300 such a silly answer and really shows the shallowness of your knowledge. It’s far from a pathetic engine and the M112/M113 happens to one of the most reliable petrol engines Mercedes ever made. It is a small displacement V6 and performs like one. It’s performance pales in comparison to the newer turbo 4 cylinders of course but is still a great engine. Don’t make car reviews if you don’t know shit.
I just got an 05 c230 komp (facelift model) with 106k it's far superior to this car
How is it far superior if it's the same damn car? The only difference is the motor and a few cosmetic differences. The structure, suspension and build quality is the same. I have a 2006 C280 and don't think it's superior to this car considering the only changes are interior trim.
This and the current C-Class do absolutely nothing for me. Can't believe people gobble these things up for the badge. Boring to drive and cheap interior, the 3 Series has this and the current C-Class beat.
