@@silevafresh8522 its somewhat of an ‘inside joke’ so I dont blame you, but @tmacman I also DIED, that and the black screen with text ‘can I film a video with your cool car...’
Man you are awesome haha! And the Doug impressions are spot on. I'd like to add a few notes if anyone is interested in additional information : - W203 came equipped with 3 kinds of radios: Audio 10 (Cassette+CDC), Audio 30 APS (CD+NAVI) and (double din) COMAND APS (NAVI+TV...) - Audio 30 and COMAND could include Linguatronic (voice commands) which was also an extra option. It would add a stalk on the right side of the wheel that would trigger the commands. - Almost all MBs up until circa 2020 never had a volume indicator. - This climate control is the standard, but they offered a Digital one which also featured glowing dials on vents. - On the gearshift, C stands for Comfort. In other W203s, the buttons says W/S (Winter/Standard). Don't know why they changed it. - The second button in the button row is usually for Parking Sensors. - Parking Sensors package also included nicer rear dome light, which featured two reading lights for the passengers in the back - useful! - The third button triggers a rear blind, while on wagon version it triggers the rear wiper. - Early 2000 MB featured a backup system for lights in case a bulb burns out. (If your turn indicator burns out, your fog lamp will replace it and so on.) That's something we do not see today! - The car in the video is also featured with a radio controls for garage doors in the rear view mirror, which was extra paid too. - Another quirk (on earlier W203, not sure about this one): you can't fold mirrors. That was also extra haha!
Honestly other than the mic snapping, I loved this video! If you would do the more obscure cars unlike Doug, I feel like you could really take off! Great video personality and I enjoyed every minute. I found this because I have a mechanic friend who’s selling one for $1500 with a six-speed manual, supercharger, sport package, and 100k miles. Only thing? Blown head gasket but parts are included in price. Subbed to help you on your way
You missed the cruise control and the hands-free Nokia in the centre console. I have the W203 2005 C200 Sport, which (in South Africa) has the AMG steering wheel (same as the C55). It has 322000 kms and still feels new. I really love my Merc.
I have the not sport version of this mercedes model and i am a very tall man. This car feels very comfortable and has a ton of space for my feet and head and then some! Feels amazing to drive.
Nice review. I have a Mars Red 2005 with 77k original miles. I paid $15,000 in 2013 at a Benz dealer after the odometer hit 30k during my test drive. This afternoon I replaced the original battery. There is not a speck of corrosion or rust in the battery well. It looks like they upgraded the dash, gauge and console layout from the '04 to the '05. The stereo became a "command center" with big color screen and an on-board Nav system that will still get me home when GPS satellites start falling from the sky. It also has a ton of system controls that are well organized, and the phone interface was future tech back then. Mine has multiple package options and everything still works, but my sunroof needs adjusting every now and then. Leather was/is an option, but the basic MB-Tex vinyl is legendary for it's quality and it wears better than leather. The pinhole venting is nice, along with multi way adjustments and lumbar. They kept prices down with sensible things like manual seat slides and manual steering wheel adjustment. Sadly, mine does not have the fold down rear seats, which was a stupid cheap $100 upgrade. I tend to disagree with the "not real fast" comment. It's obviously not a race car, but it is a specially designed package with good PTW ratio and perfectly matched handling. It has the continuous drive supercharger, as opposed to a spool-up turbo. Once you get a feel for "S" mode and manually shifting through the gears, it will go like a bat outta hell. It's small and low and this adds to the sense of speed, especially when combined with good balance, traction control, steering and braking. And I still get a solid 30mpg on the freeway in comfort mode. It was engineered for autobahn speeds as an entry level 4-door sports sedan, and was built for maximum safety and fun that anyone can drive. I've had no major problems with mine and whenever I read about things like plastic parts that break, I remind myself that exposed wear parts on an 18 to 20 year old car require a gentle touch and may not survive the relentless savagery of children or clumsy spouses...
Dude, great video! I'm a big Doug Demuro fan and this was a great review. I have a 2003 C230 Kompressor Sport in the Desert Silver Metallic color. Same engine and all, including the sport package, but that color you've got is amazing. It started in 2004 unfortunately for me 😕. The sport package in 2003 still had the original sport rims, so I have the older style where all four were the same size. I'm at 287,000 miles on mine currently. Goal is 300k 🙂
In Europe the C230 Kompressor was fitted with an actual 2.3 litre Kompressor, giving 197hp. With a remap, they make 238hp. The only reason the US got the weaker 1.8 engine tuned up to 189hp, was due to the California emissions laws (the 2.3 4cylinder makes higher emmisions than California allows).
My 99 came stock with a 2.3l i-4 with a decent size supercharger on it (it had a different pulley on it to make it louder and faster now, pushing around 14PSI)
Good video, but I'm gonna have to correct you on the C/S button. Yes, in "C" mode you start in 2nd gear, but the car upshifts earlier and the shifts are smoother. In "S" mode, you get a much more dynamic feel. Now, I'm not gonna go on and say it's something like race mode in modern cars, but "S" mode is definitely for spirited driving. "C" mode is for maximum comfort and winter. Although I have used "C" mode very rarely in my C-class. I like the sportier feel of the 5G-tronic. Solid transmission.
great video man. i'm an original '04 C230K mars red owner and couldn't be happier with the original price and long term value. I always get comments on the car's look, it's very attractive. Best value I've seen in 40 years. KBB is a measly $2k, best value still !!!! This car was so ahead of its time with auto tint mirrors, auto wipers (Tesla can't even get that working right yet), and one touch down on any/all windows.
As the comments are full of Doug Demuro comparisons, you arent copying him in my eyes, you really review more for my view realistic and affordable cars, like it!
C/S doubles for “Comfort” and “Sport” and the following generation (w204) makes clear distinction of this when you press the button. The center screen tells you if the trans is in comfort or sport when that button is engaged. But the functions are exactly as you describe. Mercedes may have simplified the verbiage after this generation but I’ve always known those buttons to be “comfort/sport” even when the car was new.
I love this generation C Class. Though I really prefer the 2005-2007 C230 because it looked better on the inside. I hated the way the gauge cluster looked on the 2001-2004 C Class, they looked so ugly. I want one really bad, with the sport package too. Great video too.
You are right, some of the interior in the early years of this generation was questionable and I am glad it got a facelift at some point. I just have to take what I can get though.
I like the older version more than new. Newer version of the gauge cluster didn't have that iconic Mercedes look, where the speedometer is in the center and other gauges are smaller and on the side. The w204 did the great job of fixing that mistake.
8:18 thats not the whole truth about the button. It is kind of sport mode, because its simillar to Jaguar S and X type. With C mode on (comfortable) it starts from 2nd gear and it switches gears earlier. S (standard) starts from 1st gear and it keeps the car on given gear longer, keeping the engine at high revs thus resulting in more acceleration.

I just purchased a 2005, 1 owner, very well maintained C230 & I absolutely love it! The Bluetooth doesn't connect with my phone but I don't really care. I got it for a steal too.
Should I buy one with 119k miles
@@chapoelite1491 The one I purchased had 153k miles but the timing belt change was just done a few months ago and all maintenance kept up by previous owner. Best $1,500 I ever spent!
