- It's been a while since we've revisited Foxes & Fossils, but we can't ignore how many of our viewers have been asking for more from them. Well, here they are performing a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's Hazy Shade of Winter, Bangles style. Do they continue to rock?

Scott King, the bass player extraordinaire passed away early in 2022 after short battle with cancer. Best electric bassist I ever heard.
If you listen to their Catalog of Music, I think you will Agree that their the Best Cover band in the States!!
Curious how many of the cover bands in the US you’ve heard. You just have a LOT of time!!! 😜

Might be hard to see the band in person anytime soon. They are scattered in several states now. Scott King (bass) is in Virginia. Maggie Adams (brunette vocals) is in Nashville. The rest of the band I think is still in the Atlanta area - Tim and his daughter Sammie, Toby, Johnny, Darwin and possibly Chase.
If they do decide to play a gig somewhere there will be a lot fans traveling from all parts near and far to attend such a magical event myself included.
Sammie goes to graduate school in Boston.

Their version of CSN&Y's of 'Carry On' is going to blow you away. It was just released yesterday (11/3). Check it out.

When Maggie went to college they brought in the third girl whose name is Chase and now they all three are part of the band

Check out their cover of Dedicated to the One I Love. Chase sings Mama Cass's part; it'll give you goosebumps!
You guys need to check out 'Telling Me Lies'. Each of the Foxes sing a verse on lead and then harmonize as only they can on the chorus. On the original version, Linda Ronstadt sang lead for all three verses with Dolly and Emmylou joining in for the chorus. Linda Thompson, who co-wrote the song has given them high praise for their version of the song and I believe she is also a Patreon supporter of the group. Chase joined the group at 15 when Maggie(on the right) was unable to continue due to educational commitments, and graduated from college this spring.
F&F also knock Todd Rundgren's "Love is the Answer" out of the park. Check it out.

I know you guys are gonna wanna do foxes and Fossils doing Carry On....it is such a rich tribute to CSNY quality

Their cover of “Telling Me Lies”, (also covered by the Trio; Parton, Ronstadt, Harris) will leave one covered in goosebumps. I dare say the F&F cover is far superior to the Trio’s.
Chase Truran is the new girl with Foxes and Fossils. I suggest you guys listen to the cover of Elton Johns Yellow Brick Road. Chase sings lead and shows what she can do vocally which is quite a lot. She has her own you tube site that is worth a visit. She has a tremendous vocal range and dynamic. The only singer I can think of to compare her to is Ella Fitzgerald.
The guitar hook is an electric guitar interpretation of Paul Simon's part in the original recording in about 1968 or so. This song went on top 40 3rd--after The Sounds of Silence and the I Am a Rock. I know, I'm older than you two and heard them on the radio in my (mom's) car!
Exceptional music and very good editing on the video.
Just to clarify, Paul Simon played the guitar hook on the original recording (1968 or so). On acoustic guitar it was nowhere near as bitting. Paul also could not keep it going through the song--they only had one guitar. The keyboard riff that is discussed was based on the lyric 'THe Salvation Army Band'. This was also on the original though I'm not sure what instruments played it--may have been a brass trio like the old salvation army compos that used to come out in any down-town before Christmas.
Yes, I heard this when it was played from a 45 on the AM radio!

Hapeville, the city just north of Atlanta Airport, is their base city. Hapeville is also the home city of comedian Jeff Foxworthy.
Smyrna GA is where Tim's home studio is located. Darwin lives in Hapeville.

@@UnhingedReactions Actually Chase joined as around her 15th birthday when Maggie moved away for college, Chase had her 21st birthday around the end of 2020. she is an artist on her own, but takes the lead on several F&F videos, hav a listen to "Thinking out loud" her first time on stage, later ones "Telling me lies" and "Goodbye, Yellow brick road" and "Love is the answer" to be honest the list is endless . . .
Why did the vocals with this cover sound between simon/gunkfeild and the bangles verson??
If you wanna hear the best Anthem, check out the version by the Cactus Cuties. They were about 9 years old at the time. you WILL be blown away.
You guys need to hear and review the latest cover release of F&F. They do “Carry On”, a CSNY mega hit, and knock it out of the park!

Really like your reviews and F&F songs - Would like to put in a request on a singer you might not be familiar with named Eva Cassidy - her version of Autumn Leaves done live at Blues Alley in Washington DC shortly before her death in 1996 is IMO the greatest live performance by anyone ever

The live version is MUCH better
They're excellent however, I am so used to the Bangles version that, I think the women need a little more punch to their delivery. They sound a little diminished. Excellent nonetheless .

Sammie (the blond) and Maggie were 15 years old when they sang Suite for Judy Blue Eyes, they were acquainted from church. The only related members are Sammie and her father Tim, who is the main male vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and key board player. When Maggie went to college, a new female singer, Chase, was added. Chase has an amazing voice and does some solo work by herself. Now that remote recording is being used, all three women can be part of the band. One amazing recording they did, which added another of Tim's daughters for four female singer was the 40's or 50's tune Mr. Sandman, a song that is really dated (I think they did it as a holiday special), but the harmonies are absolutely incredible and tight. Not my favorite song, but the craftsmanship is exquisite.
RIP Scott King (bass) - lost Jan 2022 to cancer.

They did fuse both versions in my opinion. The did the verse that The Bangles cut out.
There were two girls in the reactions you did from 10 years ago, Sammie and Maggie. Maggie left the group and was replaced by Chase. Then the group “broke up”.
However a few years later, their channel blew up which prompted them to start up again along with a return to the group by Maggie.

@@debrastrader9892 They continued until Sammie graduated from Vanderbilt and Chase started at Belmont. July 2017 was the last live gig and the first studio recording was posted in October 2019.
@@lynwessel2471 Yes, I know! I lived in Smyrna GA and went to the same church. My sons came up through the youth choirs with Sammie and Maggie. I've heard them sing live at several locations beyond almost every church event as they came up through choir.
Actually, just caught your comment about Neil Young and skipping the F&F cover of Harvest Moon, and I would strongly recommend checking it out whether reacted here or just for yourselves. F&F have done a different flavor/style/take on Harvest Moon, and it quickly became a favorite. I'm not a Neil Young fan and didn't know the song, so went back and found a couple old vids of his, don't like them at all. It is definitely a signature Maggie-tune.
Chase (the blonde in the middle of the girls) is in the group but doesn't perform as much as the other 2 girls. The blonde on the left, in the blue shirt, is the daughter of the group's leader who sings, plays guitar and keyboards.
They are very talented, but this one is not close to one of their best - at least 30 others are better including more recently done versions of "Carry On" and "Southern Cross" since you guys like CSN.
I'm sure you'd like their versions of "California Dreamin'" or "Seven Bridges Road".
I love Foxes and Fossils but if you want another great cover band to react to check out Toronto's Dwanye Gretzky doin "The Chain" or just about every other song they cover.Like the F&F they are a pleasure to listen to.
Great show but how can Ed not like The Beach Boys in the summer? Guess Jan and Dean are out too🙃
I know, I know. I do like a handful of Beach Boys songs, but generally, their music is a bit too "beachy" for me :-)
