Logitech K580 vs MK470 - Looks the same, but they are very different!

- Logitech claims both of these keyboards are slim, modern and minimalist. The Logitech K580 is designed for multi-device users who likes to re-configure their keys whereas the MK470 is a basic wireless keyboard that only connects to a computer with USB A port.
I mistaken these two keyboards and purchased the wrong one, so I thought of sharing this

Can we use K470 Top closer in K580? And other way possible? Because I don't find use case of mobile holder. But I like K580.
thanks for sharing. I got K585. K380 round dimple keys are comfier but K585 is great for PC work and iPad travel. magic full keyboard's light, but too long, last week a # key plied out by other stuff in laptop bag (should've got a cover) so going back to trusty Logitech 😊

That should be quite an easy decision. If you need number pad, and only need to connect to two devices and normal size keys keyboard, go with K580.
K380 keys are shrunk down a bit, which means the distance between the keys are not the same as typing on standard keyboards. It can feel a bit tight when we type on K380. However, it's something we can get used to quite fast. Go with K380 if you need portability. Hope this helps.
This is an amazing video. I mistakenly purchased the MK470 under the idea that I would split them up and use the included mouse as a traveler with my laptop and the keyboard with a desktop computer. While the keyboard does work great, being tied to one single USB dongle really prevents them from being used separately at all. Effectively means that I have a mouse that is just going to be wasted. For the desktop though, I've really quite enjoyed the keyboard. I just needed a larger more comfortable mouse there. Wish I'd have seen this video prior to making the purchase.

When I got the MK470 I knew someone like me would be thinking of splitting the mouse and keyboard, hence I made this video to let everyone know we can't do that. Yes, the keyboard is pretty good to type on if we like scissors switch keys. For your larger more comfortable mouse, have you tried the M650. It's pretty good. I have made a video about it.
@@SkyPerspective I'm using the MX Anywhere 3 mouse. It's great for being portable and being able to pair with multiple devices. The sad thing about this one is that I really do like the M350 series mouse that I assumed would come in the kit. But, I guess I'm back to looking for something else to pack on the road. Considering something like the Microsoft Arc mouse.
@Elliot R oh I see. You are looking for something portable and compact. For my portable mouse I am using the pebble, which physically is exactly like the mk580 mouse. That was your initial plan isn't it? Splitting up the mouse and keyboard and use the mouse on the go? Maybe can consider getting a pebble? Pebble can "switch" between two devices, by the way. One using the dongle, the other using Bluetooth.
Can i know does the k580 keyboard plastic texture feels the same with mk470?

I would check your device to make sure it's Bluetooth is switched on and is searching for new devices. On the keyboard, make sure you press on hold on to the device switch key 2 to set the keyboard to pairing mode. The light on that key should be blinking. If this still doesn't work, you can try pairing your k580 with another device, and if that is successful, then you will know the issue lies on your first device.

I lost my MK470 USB receiver. Can we connect with anyvother USB receiver.
Unfortunately, no. At least not that i know of, and I'm happy to be corrected. I think mk470 comes with a usb receiver that only works with that keyboard and mouse. It doesn't work with advanced receivers like logitech Unifying receivers.

Yes, you should be able to use it with Mac, but I won't recommend getting this keyboard for mac. It's not designed for mac. Consider getting the K580 for Mac www.amazon.com.au/Logitech-Multi-Device-Wireless-Smartphone-Bluetooth/dp/B0BS6B4RSX
How you can spot the difference is by looking at the Windows / Mac key on the left of the Space bar beside the left ALT key. It should show opt and cmd keys if it's designed for Mac. Hope this helps.

Do yo always have to press the FN key just to use normal F1-F12 keys?
We can use the logi option app to configure it to work either ways. This is for the k580, the mk470 may not work with logi option, I haven't tested that.

The price difference is not much between both
I haven't tested the K480, but I would say go for the K580 because it's a newer model and it has a numeric keypad. Hope this helps. The only difference is K480 can connect to 3 devices and the K580 only 2.
I did exactly the same thing… bought the mk470 and realised that it doesn’t have Bluetooth nor the other features, so I swapped it for the k580 and m350 instead

Hi.. K580 can use for linux with usb ?
I have no Linux machine to confirm this, but generally speaking, all Logitech keyboard should work with Linux if we use their USB receiver. It's just that we don't get any app support because there is no Logitech option app version for Linux.
Hopefully someone who has used Logitech keyboard with Linux can confirm this.

Does the K580 work for gaming??
It should work with any computer, but it's not good for gaming.

To me the deal breaker for the 470 is lack of Bluetooth. Does that mean it cannot be used with a phone or tablet?
Yes that correct. The 470 is really basic.
@@SkyPerspective I think Bluetooth connectivity is a basic capability. Without it the keyboard is not usable for phones and tablets, and that's a very large number of devices.
Yes you are right. I am like you, I need my keyboard to multi device switch, that's why I had to buy the K580 to replace the MK470.
I disagree on the "basic capability". Bluetooth is a feature. If you need it, buy it. I don't need it and the k470 is perfect. I'm also not hopping devices. Both models have their uses. I pair mine with a Beelink Eq12 for a very nice, very tiny PC setup.

sdeems too easy to get the K580into bluetooth mode thereby making it no longer work with unifying dongle. People are idiots then they need support

I got m171 mouse. Can i pair with that keyboard using one receiver? Please reply I don’t want make mistake. I not rich people 🥲
I am actually not 100% sure because I haven't used m171 before. From the websites, it looks like the answer is no it cannot connect to another receiver. It can only connect to its own receiver.
