    The key to avoiding pirate attacks is to act like pirates yourself: fly a skull and cross bones flag, have a prosthetic leg or arm with hook, eye patch, a cannon, and, if they approach, act like you want to plunder their ship.

    After listening to your "defense" plan I'm very happy you did not encounter any overzealous fishing boats! It's interesting, the Colombian Armada operating in that region is actually asking for boats to keep their AIS lit up so they also know where you are just in case. Enjoy!

      HA HA! Us too! It IS interesting that the armada has requested that AIS remain on. The problem with that is the pirates are closer than the navy! HA!

    Whats the yellow lines on the boom vang for?

      That's the jack line that we cross over to the other side of the boat. I wrap it on the vang to keep it in place and another point to secure the line just in case.
