I came from a very old school "non-denominational" church in Pennsylvania that was a bit out there when it came to some doctrinal things, as with most churches, some good some bad. They believed that God was to be trusted for All, and I mean all, things physically and to rely on anything man made for health was wrong and not biblical, this is where the verse was uses to "support" the claim. This meant hospitals, doctors, and medicine. I am a third generation in that church but left when I was a teen. My family still follows that practice even though we aren't part of the church. It's hard to unlearn a bad habit, I guess. It very much bothers my conscience because it's so engraved in my mind that even thinking of taking advil for terrible headaches feels like I'm wrong or sinning. Part of me knows that God is always to be our strength and what we go to for help, and the other part knows we have these things because we have been given authority over Earth. I am married and have 2 kids now, and I don't want to harm my family because of a wrong belief or a messed up up bringing. That’s false! Denominations matter. Don’t water down the message to force people into heaven or validate false doctrine. Jesus said his followers will “KNOW THE TRUTH.” All 45k plus denominations can’t all know the truth while teaching their members various doctrines. There is certainly “false Christ” or “false Jesus” as well as “doctrines of demons”. The scriptures attest to their existence. Having faith in a false Christ Jesus doesn’t lead to salvation. There is also those who have DEAD INACTIVE FAITH.
As a woman I think I can speak from experience about why women wear revealing clothes. I do not believe women wear them because they are comfortable or trendy I believe they ARE seeking attention even if it's completely subconscious. I did this for many years sometimes completely deliberately, but oftentimes just because that's what the desire of my heart was. That I wanted to be seen. God has healed me of this and I no longer like wearing clothes that show parts of my body that are only meant for my husband. My hope for all women is to know they don't need to wear tight revealing clothes or even flashy expensive clothes to be worthy of attention.
I would agree as a guy. As someone who was previously not Christian and more...liberal shall we say...with women; it became apparent to even the women I dated that they still wore very revealing clothing when they were with me. I had noticed this sort of desire to have everyone see you and that became especially apparent when my more serious girlfriends started enforcing the clothes they wanted me to wear or how to cut my hair, etc. It doesn't make sense unless you consider that they effectively wanted to wave me around as a symbol of what they had versus what others had (or didn't have). They wanted to look good for attention and also wanted me to look good (according to them) alongside them as a sort of trophy. Kinda weird cause, as a guy, I typically think the inverse and wouldn't want any guy to notice my gf except for me. However, it does appear that women want everyone to see them and want.
When I was a young teen, I just wanted to look cute. I was naive about boys and hormones. I wasn't trying to be provocative then. Just cute. As I got older, I got wiser and I knew what tight fit clothing on a curve girl suggested. So I didn't show cleavage or wear tight clothes. I wore alot of sun dresses and cowboy boots.
What constitutes revealing? 😮 I wore halter tops and shorts when I was younger because it was hot outside! Different from purposfully acting seductively... no matter what the clothes. Men, suck it up and control yourselves either way. YOUR responsibility.

In order to truly understand what the bible is saying you basically have to have a ton of historical knowledge. Otherwise you will miss all the political commentary that gives greater meaning. If you don't strongly understand Judaism and jewish culture, and you aren't well versed in 1st century history in isreal and rome, theres a lot easily missed. You should ask the academic world what it all means
On depictions of violence: I was once rejected by a Christian publisher specifically because my book of short stories contained a scene in which a person, "off camera" so to speak, was struck, and he walked into the room with a single drop of blood coming from his lip. The problem wasn't context, theme, or presentation. The simple presence of a drop of blood violated their content guidlines. This is a real problem with explicitly Christian content. The people who produce and distribute it are terrified to the point of only putting out pastel, sterilized, stories because that's what so many consumers demand and expect. There are entire true stories (not just fictional like mine) that are incredibly meaningful and spiritually potent, but will never be told because they're "too gritty for Christian audiences." These people would never publish the Bible if it came out today. Think about that. And that's partially a reflection of the paying audience. I know some Christians who think the movie The Passion of the Christ is too gory. A (still not 100% realistic) artistic representation of the suffering that saved them is "distasteful." I call this the Nice-ification of Christianity and the Hallmarkization of Christian media. None of that has to do with goodness and righteousness.
The scene in the Passion where Christ is so brutally beaten, in my opinion, truly reflects the extent of the beating he received, and literally makes me cry when I see it. This scene made his suffering more real to me, and made me feel my guilty part in his death. The sanitized pictures of Christ wearing a white loincloth, with no or minimal blood on his body, as totally not accurate. I think every Christian needs to see that scene.
My 16yo daughter walked by and asked what I was doing (I had googled 'mizzlenum' 😆). I told her I was watching Mike Winger talk about the Pirate Bible. She said, "The WHAT?" I listen, and re-listen, to his videos while working and it has done so much to change how I think and help me realize where my own faults are in my walk with Christ. It isn’t in a bad way because it makes me so happy to find my way again. I never really realized how much everything else is distraction and ministry is so helpful.

I'd asked why Mormonism isn't Christianity, but my friends couldn't tell me why. I asked the pastor and they mainly talked about Joseph Smith's Deceptions. It was enough to convince me to leave. If they had told me that the Bible said,"do not add or subtract", I'd have left that night, even sooner than i had! Knowing and studying the Bible over the years convinced me even more so.....my sister had recently converted to be a evangelical Christian, praise the Lord. But i still have friends who aren't. You may want to read up on your knowledge of the Bible. Adding to taking away was never intended as a universal application to the Bible as a whole. You may also want to study up on whatever deceptions you’re referencing concerning JS. The many deceptive stories I’ve read came from mobs, apostates, and evil doers years down the road. Very little of it originated at the time they claim it actually happened. Similar to the same things Pastor Mike uses to speak out against the LDS church.
I don’t know if you’ll see this, but maaaaan. Your answer to question 6 helped me out so much. This is the biggest area in my life where I’ve just constantly beat myself up, and funny enough, that passage from Romans 5 is my favorite in all of Scripture. But it was refreshing to hear you connect the two and give that encouragement. The big thing for me is always that guilt…the feeling of needing to turn away in my shame. I've also dealt with some brothers in Christ that believed that we shouldn't use medicine. However, many hospitals were founded by Christians. Thanks for all you do Mike. One comment on your answer to question number 6... i think you are spot on with the exception of this. We are forgiven once and for all when we believe in Christ's finished work on the cross. What the young man who asked this question needs to understand is now that he is a believer there is now no condemnation. So if he thinks he needs to repent for every single thing, he is going to get caught in a cycle of falling, feeling bad, and falling again. What he needs to understand is that he is holy and righteous and when he falls, he is still holy and righteous because of his position in Christ. So nothing wrong with going to God after falling into sin but and even saying you are sorry, but quickly remember that you are complete in Christ and remeber that you have been forgiven for all sins (past, present, and future) already.
I’m a 34 yo woman who became more and more modest over time because I truly didn’t understand it’s purpose. No one taught me that its purpose is to protect me. Not just from abuse, mind you. I mean in every way. I’m protecting my integrity, my husband’s reputation, my OWN reputation, my body and spirit from those who lust. I’m also showing my girl’s that my worth and theirs, isn’t in our clothes or body. Modesty is tough because in our culture now, we’re told that modesty is bad because it assumes we’re to be ashamed of what’s under clothing. It’s so far from the truth! We need to be modest because we are worth PROTECTING! ❤
I agree that our culture teaches that dressing modestly hurts our self image, I do not see it as biblical though. This is why the bible teaches us to not be part of the worldly ways. It is tough though because than we look strange. Dressing modestly does not trigger men and boys who struggle with lustful thoughts though, it protects them. I, a women, can see the difference between dressing sexy and not dressing sexy, a man sees it too. It says in the bible to dress modestly. If a guy is determined to think inappropriately about a woman, it won't matter how much or how little she's wearing, he's going to think what he's going to think. It doesn't matter if she's wearing the most conservative clothing ever, or nothing at all. Women (and men) should dress modestly to present and carry themselves as someone worthy of respect, not out of some kind of "do it for the men" kind of thinking. The whole "do it for the men" kind of thinking is extremely insulting to men, women, and Jesus alike. As a 33 year old woman I found response to question 6 so helpful. I don’t have an issue with lust typically, but I found a lot of what Mike said to be helpful in other areas. I constantly struggle with irritability. I hate it, and it constantly has me feeling horrible all the time. I strive to be a Proverbs 31 woman, but this is a big hinderance that has me falling short everyday. I don’t want to be this way, I’ve prayed and repented more times than I can count on this issue, but it still happens. I feel like the response for this question is something I really needed to hear.
Tip 1: Start by not trying to mimic a Proverbs 31 woman. Tip 2: Take Paul's views of women in church leadership roles with a pinch of salt. Now begin to observe how much suppressed stress begins to leave you... And there you go... have an awesome Day! 😊
Something to consider. If you are on any medication, get off of them. Including birth control. Also, make sure you eat a healthy diet consisting of non-genetically engineered food. Take a vitamin d supplement. Sometimes irritable feelings can be caused by gut health being poor. May God guide your heart.
@@musketmerve1436I hope you meant to say that if she's on any medication she _doesn't need_, she should get off it, not to suggest she'd abandon necessary medication. Also, please be careful with vitamin D supplements if you aren't certain you're deficient, and even if you are, make sure you don't overdose. Like most vitamins, vitamin D becomes harmful in high doses. Lastly, a healthy and well balanced diet according to one's personal needs is indeed helpful for the mind, true. But there's nothing about GMOs specifically that would make eating them make you irritable.
I grew up Catholic and just the summer of 2022 I was saved through your videos and a few others. Thank you Mike. My baby sister had her son baptized earlier this year. I wasn't going to go but my grandma wanted a ride so I went. I dont know if I am wrong for saying this but i felt so werid being there like there might have been a demon present. Not sure but I just felt very strange.
We can cast out demons in the name of Jesus. Just continue to pray for your nephew every day, same as for the rest of your family, that He be guided by the angels and protected from demons o their influence. A person can be rebaptized as an adult. Even if they were an adult the first time and realize later that they had been just going through the motions without true understanding.

I was once reading a book about a woman and what she thought was her guardian angel. The book was vivid concerning her actions and experiences. While reading it I realized that when she said "and I said this" while reading what she said I was also saying it in my mind. The devil is crafty... I put the book down!

For one thing, he’s incapable of calling them by their real name - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints…Secondly, nobody in the LDS faith has any idea about this Pirate Bible or even cares about it. KJV is the only Bible they need.
I love you Mike and thank you for choosing to teach. I cannot find one subject you’ve taught on that has been off base. Ask me anything I can tell you there is probably not much I haven’t experience in my life, including losing two children. Those experiences believe me, draw you closer to the Lord and scripture. Thanks for addressing the catholic issues (and thanks for the people who asked!). Living in a very catholic country in South America, most people seem to believe in the God of the bible. I just haven't figured out how to detect if they are truly saved or just traditional. Sometimes it shows in their lives or in conversations but not always.
Regarding TikTok: When I first made an account (it was to follow my adult “kids”) I was not impressed… but now my entire “For you page” is about Jesus! And it’s given me the opportunity to message and reach people that I never would have known existed! I’ve answered questions and helped explain biblical principles and I’ve had questions of my own answered in addition to basic brotherly encouragement from others! It’s not all bad but it does offer the temptations of idleness and potentially sinful content! But I think if your eyes are fixed on Jesus… you can scroll right past those nasty things and create a space that brings Him glory! Obviously with wisdom and discernment being at the forefront of your mind! 🙌🏻♥️

Question 6 Asking God for the infilling of the Holy Spirit really will give believers a greater ability to resist temptation! The Holy Spirit is The Helper and Teacher, Guide and Comforter. Focus on be, being filled, continuously have Faith you will receive the power to become a true son of God! In your weakness He is Strong and His strength is perfected in our weakness! And all the helpful things Mike did mention. Exercise your Faith in the promises Jesus gave you about giving you the gift of the Holy Spirit and as a gift, nothing you can do on your own will earn this gift. If you aren’t truly filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit you will struggle so much more often to no avail. Avoid the unnecessary media like a fast. Fast forward through any scenes that are about to get graphic about showing sexual content, mute the sound immediately too. Pray for those who are slaves to sin in this area, and yourself too. Anytime you are surprised while watching a show. Don’t listen to corrupt rap music!
Great advice and thoughts! I have a few more, for the person who asked quesetion 6 or others who struggle with lust. 1. Get to know God, and to REALLY appreciate what he saved you FROM, and the infinite GOOD he saved you TO. If you were in prison on Death Row, and you could pay $1 billion to get out but of course didn't have the money, and someone came along and PAID IT ALL, would you not be grateful to them with all your heart, for the rest of your life? God did so much MORE for you than that! Whenever you recognize a temptation, say what Joseph said when Potiphar's wife tried to seduce him. He explained how Potiphar had trusted him with EVERYTHING and given him EVERYTHING except his wife (of course), and so "How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" How, when God has done SO MUCH for you, can you go through with spitting in his face and feeding your own sinful desire? As you understand this more and know God and what he did for you more deeply, sin will become much easier to say NO to. 2. In a time when you are not being tempted, think through what you would say to someone who sees you reject porn, or stop gazing at a girl you shouldn't be, or knows you do not participate in sexual immorality and try to keep your mind clean. What will you tell them? Get this solidified in your mind, and ask an older and wiser man who is a strong Christian (maybe a youth pastor or senior pastor) if what you would say makes sense, and maybe they can help you think through what you would say. Then picture yourself in your mind saying that to others, and feeling God's smile on you, and even if they laugh at you or think you're weird, continuing to feel God's smile on you and being glad ahead of time that you chose to do the right thing. This will be a witness to others that your faith, and God, are real. I will pray for you who struggle with this regularly. I know I did and so many others have and still do!

A few thoughts on questions 6 and 12, but also question 5 especially. I've had some amazing ministering opportunities in games. It was also games that gave me an appreciation for what a great-uncle did during WWII at such a young age. 6: I was saved when I was 8 and like dude in this question I too struggled in that area, sometimes with what I thought was lust and sometimes legitimate lust. Too many people today conflate attraction with lust and it's not the same thing at all. One thing that gave me alot of peace was when someone in my life explained it like this. You are allowed to appreciate someone's beauty without it being more than that. Suppose one has a sister and she's gotten ready for her prom and is all dressed up and such. If you think she's pretty in that moment, it doesn't suddenly mean you're thinking inappropriate things. Same goes for one's female friends as well. Suppose you pass a woman in a Walmart and you notice she's attractive, how you react next determines whether it's good or bad. Do you keep walking and just make a mental note of "God you made a knockout with that one"? Assuming you're both single, do you approach her and treat her like a daughter of the king in the process? Or do you turn around to stare at her inappropriately and walk into a pole as a result? The first two are fine, the third is not. You may not be able to control every thought that pops into your mind, but you can choose whether to give it power or not. If you're having struggles in that area or related things, remember in Romans 5 you're standing in grace already, and per Hebrews 9 and Hebrews 10, your sin of lust was already dealt with at the cross and you now have the ability to go to Jesus and say you're struggling in that department without fear. Keep your focus on him and in time you'll lose the desire to do the things you used to do. He's always working in us to desire to do better and do his will and good works (Philippians 2:13). 12: I agree with most of what was said by Pastor Mike here, but disagree on one bit. So first up, I'm of the mindset crop tops CAN be acceptable dress depending on the circumstances, but there are some instances where it's not. Some examples where it could be appropriate, is it a very hot day out and she's doing it to keep cool? Or another example, is she going to the gym or participating in an activity where said top might not restrict her movements as much? Some examples where it would be inappropriate imo, church for one, school or professional environment being two more. Far as a girl or woman wearing it to church, I don't believe it's appropriate for a venue like that BUT at the same time I don't think it's as big an issue as people make it out to be. Personally I would rather she be there in church wearing a crop top where she can hear the gospel and we know she's safe vs being out in the streets doing who knows what. With that in mind, what one wears and how you carry yourself can have an effect on how people perceive you. Not meant as bashing men or women but something to keep in mind. Now where I disagree with Pastor Mike is on whether a bikini is appropriate or not. There are modest bikinis just as there are crop tops. If we're going to say bikini's are inappropriate because they show too much, then at the same time we also have to say it's inappropriate for men to only wear swim trunks or a speedo since it shows just as much. Otherwise you have a double standard. Biggest thing I would say on the matters of clothing outside of blatantly obvious examples, follow your conscience. If you feel convicted or so on by wearing certain outfits then don't wear them. Kind of like how I personally can drink alcohol on occasion and be fine where as others can't. Not the best comparison but you get the idea. 5: As a gamer this one I definitely have some thoughts on. So big thing I would say is that video games are essentially interactive books or digital sandboxes and have no more power over a person than they're given. Just like there are some very screwed up scenes in books or movies, you can do some pretty messed up stuff in certain games. I've played a host of games of various genres over the years from rated E for everyone to M for mature. In some games I've done some pretty messed up stuff, such as wiping out entire civilizations and blowing up planets. I've also been that person fighting for justice and protecting folks as able in games. Now in reality would I ever wipe out entire civilizations and go Death Star-ing planets just because I could, murdering and pillaging just because I could, of course not. In some games I've played online such as some of the earlier Call of Duty games, you could play as a nazi officer as it was allies vs axis for the multiplayer. Aside from certain obvious examples where folks probably shouldn't be playing those games, I'm gonna ask what a person is doing in a video game. I'm glad Pastor Mike brought that up, what are you doing in the game and how does it effect you? The big question I would ask is can you maintain that barrier between reality and fiction? In some games I can control elemental magic such as summoning lava and slapping people with it, or firing lightning from my fingers. Am I going to stand in front of a moving semi and try to blast it before it gets to me, not unless I want to meet Jesus early I'm certainly not. Video games are essentially interactive books that can be used for great good or great evil. In fact when I played World of Warcraft years ago I was able to share the gospel with some people in a few of the cities in game. One guy i talked with for 6 hours answering questions he had. For all I know that's another guy that will be in Heaven some day. A game isn't automatically bad just because it's violent, or automatically good just because it's not. A final bit on this point, it was actually Call of Duty Finest Hour that gave me an appreciation for what a Great-Uncle of mine did during WWII. During the final level of the game you storm Ludendorf Bridge, or the bridge across the Rhine. As you fight your way across the bridge you come under fire from the MG-42 nests at the end of the bridge and have to pick up a sniper rifle and take down the enemy guys. You can hear the buzzsaw like sounds of the MG-42s firing and the rounds hitting the metal in front of you. When you captured the bridge and the end credits roll, it played video interviews with actual WWII soldiers. It was as violent as the ratings would allow. For me a 13yr old kid at the time, It drove home for me what they went through. I later asked my mom about the war knowing my great uncle had served and if it was really like the game portrayed. My mom knew my great uncle was coming up to visit us in a few weeks and called him to ask if he would be willing to talk to me about some of the things he went through. She explained to him that I had played the game and got to the final level and knew it had an effect on me knowing he served. He agreed to talk to me about it. He told me what he thought I could understand and handle hearing at 13. It wasn't the greatest amount of detail, but it gave me a newfound respect for my great uncle and what all of those guys went through. He was never in any major historical battles but he saw enough. I should also add at the time he lied about his age to enlist at 14 because the family needed the money at the time. Mad respect for what he and others did. Today I look at games like that as helping keep the memory of men like him alive.
To your 19th q&a - I’ve been learning about lds beliefs and it’s been very very critical in my conversations to know where they are coming from and discern truth from what they share versus what the Bible says. Like you’ve said Pastor Mike. Same terms but different dictionaries - so know these terms need to be taken deeper to find those differences has been imperative to make sure we know what we each are talking about.
For anyone who comes across my comment and who listened to the question about lust and sexual sin, as someone who saw sexual situations from a very young age, was sexually abused, and even after being saved, and now into my 40s and still struggling with lust almost daily, I want to encourage you with what I feel are the 2 most important practical takeaways from Mike's commentary on lust. First, pray when the thoughts start coming up, and (if possible) get out of the place you're currently at. Pray for deliverance from those temptations, and then go for a walk, go play with the dog, get out of your bedroom and watch TV in the family room, whatever you can do to take yourself away from the place you're currently in and struggling in. The number of times this has put me back into the correct mindset is astounding. He's right. If you attack the flame when it's small, it's easier to extinguish than when it's a full-on fire. Second, don't let the shame or guilt of failing to be perfect, failing to stay faithful, failing to stay pure, keep you from returning to God in prayer. Mike said, immediately repent. One of my personal hangups for a long time was wanting to come before God right after my sin. It's maybe a few minutes after my sin, I still felt dirty, I felt unworthy of Him hearing my words, and I felt like I didn't even deserve to be saved. Sometimes even feeling that maybe because I continued to sin that I must not be saved. And whether that's just your internal monologue, or maybe evil spirits placing those thoughts in your mind, Satan wants to use our brokenness, our guilt, our shame, our hate for ourselves and our sin, to keep us from God. Don't let those thoughts win. As a child who's been adopted into the Lord's kingdom, you have been made worthy, even in your most broken and shameful moments, because of our Lord Jesus Christ, to come before the Father. So I strongly encourage you to work past those feelings of not wanting to be in God's presence because of your shame. Don't let Satan win. Just get on your knees, speak to the Father, repent, thank Him for salvation through our Lord's free gift, and of course, ask Him to continue strengthening you and improving on you. And as a final comment, I want to remind those who feel like they've prayed and prayed, even with all their heart, tears dripping from your face, to be delivered from your sinful feelings and desires, and still have yet to see a broken part of you be fixed, that sometimes God works miracles, and sometimes He chooses to hold back on a miracle, but both are to His glorification. I've seen and heard from people whose prayers were answered, and something changed in their personality, by the glorious work and power of the Lord, and they were delivered from a particular type of sin. Praise God! But my life so far has been the counterexample. I've prayed fervently countless times, tears in my eyes, crying out to God to be delivered. I've read my Bible daily and prayed daily. I've read books on the topic of sexual addiction. Worked with organizations. Etc. And I still struggle. But I believe it's still to God's glory, just in a different way. My sins and struggles against sin remind me that I'm a sinner in need of the sanctifying and redemptive love of the Lord Jesus Christ, and subsequently it keeps me humble. I'm near-daily reminded of how broken I am, and how broken we all are, and I still glorify the Lord for His grace and mercy, and the Lord is still with me. I will continue to struggle against my sin as often as it arises, praying, asking others to pray for me, reading about it, asking for help, etc. and maybe someday I'll be graced with a miracle. But even if I never receive that miracle in this life, because of my trust in my Lord Jesus to help me bear my burdens, I know that (at minimum) the Lord will deliver me from the evil that dwells within me in the next life. Keep doing the good things that you're doing. Don't give up on yourself. Don't give up on God. And don't let your guilt keep you from our Lord God. This is a fight we must continue in until we die, but the Lord Jesus already holds the victory. All praise the God who made a way for us to be with Him in the next life. He loves us more than we sometimes feel or know.

Mike, you're so right on your response about women wearing revealing clothing. I used to dress that way in my 20s (before I was saved) and can confirm that there is a mixture of motivations. Sometimes you just want to look cute and fashionable and other times you're competing with other women and then other times you're intentionally looking for attention from men. I don't think any of these motivations glorify God. I agree that we shouldn't focus on this too much and cause division in the church, but at the same time encourage women to reflect on their motivations for why they dress the way they dress and advise that they pray about it.

The problem with it is that his translation of the Bible is very off from the Hebrew and Greek old manuscripts we have available for comparison, he even fabricated a prophecy of himself in the last chapter of Genesis. There’s no evidence that the Book of Mormon and the Book of Abraham are more than works of fiction. But there’s evidence that his claims of divine revelation for translation of such works are fraudulent.
Hi Mike! I know I'm late to the game, and I scrolled through the comments section to see if anyone had already made a similar comment, but I didn't any. For Q15, I think looking at the parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18:21-35 can help us see how someone can have their debt be forgiven by the King, turn around and be unforgiving to their fellow servant, and then ultimately have to suffer the penalty of their debt. Regarding the video games question: I think there’s more discussion to be had about the morality of embodying an evil character. Writers do this when they write books, don’t they? We don’t typically criticize them for writing a despicable villain. Playing a bad person in a game can be an interesting exercise. I don’t often make “evil” choices in games as I’m very sensitive, but I don’t know if I’d say it is wrong. I think it depends on your heart. Some games, like Grand Theft Auto, I see as more of a satire of bad people - not a celebration.
I think we all need to recognize that we are capable of evil. But that doesn't mean we embody the evil. I don't think C. S. Lewis embodied evil to write Narnia. He knows what evil looks like and what it talks like. Someone like Heath Ledger did embody evil and it changed who he was, he died of an overdose.
It depends on the story too. Does the villain reap consequences? Does the villain have a good motive but have a misguided way of doing things that’s perhaps revealed over time? Are we playing a bad guy who goes through character development? Are we temporarily playing the bad guy as part of a larger story? There are too many factors for one answer.
For question 10: to expand upon it, and reinforce the "practice of sinning" 1 John says this: if we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us... if we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) Do you believe his promise that you have eternal life ahead of you because of Jesus's death and resurrection on your behalf to forgive your sins and give you adoption as a son of God? If you have assurance and confidence that God is actually trustworthy to fulfill those things for you, that is personal faith as defined in Hebrews, not just head knowledge. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:40) 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. To answer that the real question is have you been born again? (John 3:3) do you love God? Jesus said “if you love me, keep my commandments.” Do you depart from evil? Do you desire to be holy (Christ-like)?
Do you love God? Do you follow his teachings? Do you speak to God? If generally the answer is no, then you have some knowledge of God, but you don't know God. (That would be my best guess at answering your question)
Well the difference would be If you have a true relationship with him and a true inner belief of him and who Jesus says he is, that would lead into a change in heart to *want to follow him & obey his will* I would say the difference is one Fears the Lord vs other one who happens to study theology

Chances are the Mormon Missionary has never read the Kings James Bible, or only selected verses. The missionaries who come to my door, are not familiar with the KJV, they carry them with them, but they don’t know what is inside them😢….
When I ask them to read John 1 with me, they (more than one team) are flustered, don’t know where to find it? They are consistently resistant to opening the Bible, but happy to show me that they carry one.
I have some questions about the first John passage. I was saved when I was twelve and grew to love the Lord more when I was in my teens and early twenties. But I became a slave to alcohol and eventually hard drugs. I was living a lifestyle of sin. Every time I would get sober though, I would feel pulled towards God and want to get right with him. I would go through these little periods where I would be wanting to be close to God followed with relapse has into a bad life style. Is this a practice of sending? I struggled hardcore with addiction for about 6 years. Thankfully God has given me freedom! It has also been a lot of breaking down of strongholds and renewing of my mind, as I experienced a lot of trauma and abuse as a child and young adult. How do I reconcile my experience with scripture? I resonate so much with the story of The prodigal son, I did squandering my inheritance and live recklessly. But I did feel drawn back to God and God completely forgave me and cleansed me. But how do I reconcile this with scriptures that say if you make a practice of sinning you're not a child of God? I'm convinced that I've been saved since I was twelve, I had a very real salvation experience and have felt God drawing me throughout my life.

I don't know much of your suffering, but you just as I have fallen short of God's glory. Recognize your failings, and give them up to God. Ask for forgiveness, for wisdom, and for strength to depart from your old ways. Seek the lord and rest in him. Find others who also seek the lord, and be with them to share your testimony.
Could you send a bit of that my way? Seriously… have you thought about something that caused an insecurity or a lust that you try to fulfill with eating and exercising? Have you identified triggers that send you into the unhealthy behaviors? If there’s an insecurity or trigger, does it reflect a reliance on Self and distrust of God? I’ve been going through financial and food insecurity, lately, and my reactions have shown that I haven’t been trusting God. Would you pray for my repentance as I pray for you?

About 8 years ago, the Lord Jesus saved me, healed me, and delivered me from 23 years of bulimia, depression and suicidal thoughts. Hallelujah! I had previously sought help through psychologists and medicine but knew that wasn't the real solution but I also didn't know about a relationship with Jesus. Years later I had come to the end of myself, surrendered and gave my life to the Lord and healed me and sent me free and made me a new creation in Him. Him. Praise God He can do the same for you. I want to show them an interlinear translation of John 1:1-3 and challenge them to align the JST with the Greek. The KJV is reliable insofar as it’s correctly translated, they say. So, the KJV + JST should align with the Greek, right?
Eschatology is a pretty interesting subject. I'm still researching pre and post millenium views. But I feel confident with a few things. The gathering of the saints happens immediately after the abomination which causes desolation which is called the falling away by Paul. I personally believe that the falling away is a spiritual destruction which is a means to separate the wheat from the tares, the sheep from the goats, the people who know their God from the people that prefer flattering lies. I could be wrong, but I believe the falling away is happening right now and has been going on for about 4-5 years. Even if I'm wrong about everything, I desperately want to be with Christ now. The people of this world are cruisin for a bruisin.
Unfortunately there seems to be hostility in both camps towards each other. I find myself leaning more towards one group mainly because they are less hostile. A sad state for the church to be in.

@@toreyhorton1789 Paul doesn't need to make the statement, he is referring to the scripture of that statement. and its in 2 Thess 2:3,4. Paul doesn't say "abomination of desolation", but he describes the abomination of desolation. again referring to scripture (old testament) which is what all the apostles always did. however what Paul doesn't say is that the "gathering of the saints" happens immediately after. he does say the abomination of desolation has to happen first, but that doesn't mean the "rapture" happens immediately afterwards. in fact, in both 1 Thess 4-5 and 2 Thess 2 Paul describes the "rapture" or the gathering together, and the second coming as a singular event labelled the day of the Lord. doing further research as to what the day of the Lord is throughout all old testament prophets (except Jonah) reveals all the details you need have about that day and when it is. unfortunately it doesn't line up with typical "rapture" belief, or even in a "you go to heaven" belief at all. old testament vividly describes that on the day of the Lord is when the first resurrection occurs, when Jesus returns to claim His throne and kingdom, when the treading of the winepress happens, the wrath of the Lamb, when Jesus touches down on the mount of olives and splits it into two, when Christ brings His rewards, etc etc. its all at the very end. so when the 'gathering together' occurs, who is gathering? those who are resurrected at the first resurrection, Rev 20:6 blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." AND those who have not died through the tribulation period but endured till the end will all be gathered together to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in the air as He is returning, streaking across the sky like lightning, on His way to the mount of olives. when its split into two and creates save passage for those fleeing, Jesus and His army (those gathered together with Him) will charge the city and then occurs the treading of the winepress, and Jesus will clear out His Fathers house for a second time. Q20. I agree with Mike that God can speak to us personally though anything but we have to be very cautious about taking verses out of context. When I became a Christian I said ‘God come into my life’. I was so surprised when He did! In regards to violence in videogames and roleplaying games, I don't think they are necessarily evil. An accurate representation of reality doesn't quite correlate with an enjoyment of delight in harm either, but of course there _are_ people who do. This is a fallen world after all. Being evil in a roleplaying game can also be an interesting thought experiment, not necessarily an application of human delight in causing harm to others either. It might just be me though. Even in my 'evil' playthroughs or when I play an 'evil' character I'm always still inclined towards 'good' choices.

On question 15 I lean towards the check engine light explanation. Jesus says something very similar in Mark 11 that gives us a hint. The whole passage speaks on having faith to cast the mountain into the see or receive what you ask for in prayer. He then says forgive so that your Father may forgive you. All of these things Jesus talks about are contingent on the initial thesis he gives saying " have faith in God." So the only way to be able to forgive others and be forgiven by God is by faith in Him.

I listened to Dr. William Lane Craig's series, Defenders - Series 2, many times (i.e., tens of times), mostly just by listening to it, and carefully considering every sentence of it, while I was in the shower each day (the small amount of time daily really adds up). Now, my faith is built on a rock-solid foundation in Christ. I would suggest that you do likewise.
This is why I stick to my beloved KJV. ❤ Not the Mormon bible or any other modern translation. Too many verses have been taken out and/or their meanings changed to the extent that it changes doctrine.

I'm a woman who is learned what modesty was later after my faith had matured a bit in later years, I do think girls not only have a cultural view of what's comfortable or appropriate, but the fashion industry and manufacturers also make it close to impossible for girls to dress modestly and for parents to buy more modest clothes for them. Shorts for girls have almost no length of inseam, most shirts are too short or are see-through and need to be layered, and if they go for jeans or leggings, now they're skin-tight. Even for toddlers and children under 10 years old! Boyfriend jeans and mom jeans made a comeback (ew--they died in the 80s and 90s for a reason), which are looser, but guess what tops are paired with them? Crop tops! So girls can either buy this stuff and wear it, even if they're uncomfortable themselves, or buy stuff modest moms wear (and even clothes for grown women is questionable), clothes that's flat out too big for them or buy boys' clothes. Ugh.
I’ve always explained modesty to my kids (male and female) as seeking to dress AND behave in a way that isn’t trying to draw attention to ourselves. 1 Peter seems to say that our goal should be to dress and act in a way that allows the Spirit of Christ to be the thing that people notice about us rather than what we wear or how we act. I’m not legalistic about it, if my son wants to dye his hair blue for a baseball tournament, to show team spirit, that’s great. But if he wants to dye his hair blue and dress all in black to draw attention, to himself and how “different” he is, now we need to have a conversation about modesty. Clothing that is revealing on girls will distract men who come into contact with her from noticing her godly spirit even and maybe especially if they as men are trying to behave in a godly manner. It’s just distracting from what’s important.

I came from a very old school "non-denominational" church in Pennsylvania that was a bit out there when it came to some doctrinal things, as with most churches, some good some bad. They believed that God was to be trusted for All, and I mean all, things physically and to rely on anything man made for health was wrong and not biblical, this is where the verse was uses to "support" the claim. This meant hospitals, doctors, and medicine. I am a third generation in that church but left when I was a teen. My family still follows that practice even though we aren't part of the church. It's hard to unlearn a bad habit, I guess. It very much bothers my conscience because it's so engraved in my mind that even thinking of taking advil for terrible headaches feels like I'm wrong or sinning. Part of me knows that God is always to be our strength and what we go to for help, and the other part knows we have these things because we have been given authority over Earth.
I am married and have 2 kids now, and I don't want to harm my family because of a wrong belief or a messed up up bringing.

As a woman I think I can speak from experience about why women wear revealing clothes. I do not believe women wear them because they are comfortable or trendy I believe they ARE seeking attention even if it's completely subconscious. I did this for many years sometimes completely deliberately, but oftentimes just because that's what the desire of my heart was. That I wanted to be seen. God has healed me of this and I no longer like wearing clothes that show parts of my body that are only meant for my husband. My hope for all women is to know they don't need to wear tight revealing clothes or even flashy expensive clothes to be worthy of attention.
I would agree as a guy. As someone who was previously not Christian and more...liberal shall we say...with women; it became apparent to even the women I dated that they still wore very revealing clothing when they were with me.
I had noticed this sort of desire to have everyone see you and that became especially apparent when my more serious girlfriends started enforcing the clothes they wanted me to wear or how to cut my hair, etc.
It doesn't make sense unless you consider that they effectively wanted to wave me around as a symbol of what they had versus what others had (or didn't have). They wanted to look good for attention and also wanted me to look good (according to them) alongside them as a sort of trophy.
Kinda weird cause, as a guy, I typically think the inverse and wouldn't want any guy to notice my gf except for me. However, it does appear that women want everyone to see them and want.

When I was a young teen, I just wanted to look cute. I was naive about boys and hormones. I wasn't trying to be provocative then. Just cute. As I got older, I got wiser and I knew what tight fit clothing on a curve girl suggested. So I didn't show cleavage or wear tight clothes. I wore alot of sun dresses and cowboy boots.
What constitutes revealing? 😮 I wore halter tops and shorts when I was younger because it was hot outside! Different from purposfully acting seductively... no matter what the clothes. Men, suck it up and control yourselves either way. YOUR responsibility.

In order to truly understand what the bible is saying you basically have to have a ton of historical knowledge. Otherwise you will miss all the political commentary that gives greater meaning. If you don't strongly understand Judaism and jewish culture, and you aren't well versed in 1st century history in isreal and rome, theres a lot easily missed. You should ask the academic world what it all means

On depictions of violence: I was once rejected by a Christian publisher specifically because my book of short stories contained a scene in which a person, "off camera" so to speak, was struck, and he walked into the room with a single drop of blood coming from his lip. The problem wasn't context, theme, or presentation. The simple presence of a drop of blood violated their content guidlines.
This is a real problem with explicitly Christian content. The people who produce and distribute it are terrified to the point of only putting out pastel, sterilized, stories because that's what so many consumers demand and expect. There are entire true stories (not just fictional like mine) that are incredibly meaningful and spiritually potent, but will never be told because they're "too gritty for Christian audiences."
These people would never publish the Bible if it came out today. Think about that.
And that's partially a reflection of the paying audience. I know some Christians who think the movie The Passion of the Christ is too gory. A (still not 100% realistic) artistic representation of the suffering that saved them is "distasteful."
I call this the Nice-ification of Christianity and the Hallmarkization of Christian media.
None of that has to do with goodness and righteousness.
That sounds like the same thoughtless mentality that removes Bibles from libraries.

The scene in the Passion where Christ is so brutally beaten, in my opinion, truly reflects the extent of the beating he received, and literally makes me cry when I see it. This scene made his suffering more real to me, and made me feel my guilty part in his death. The sanitized pictures of Christ wearing a white loincloth, with no or minimal blood on his body, as totally not accurate. I think every Christian needs to see that scene.

I listen, and re-listen, to his videos while working and it has done so much to change how I think and help me realize where my own faults are in my walk with Christ. I'd asked why Mormonism isn't Christianity, but my friends couldn't tell me why. I asked the pastor and they mainly talked about Joseph Smith's Deceptions. It was enough to convince me to leave. If they had told me that the Bible said,"do not add or subtract", I'd have left that night, even sooner than i had! You may want to read up on your knowledge of the Bible. Adding to taking away was never intended as a universal application to the Bible as a whole. You may also want to study up on whatever deceptions you’re referencing concerning JS. The many deceptive stories I’ve read came from mobs, apostates, and evil doers years down the road. Very little of it originated at the time they claim it actually happened. Similar to the same things Pastor Mike uses to speak out against the LDS church.
That new creation verse makes me think of the joke “I was once young and stupid, and after years of growth, I can proudly say I’m no longer young.”

This is the biggest area in my life where I’ve just constantly beat myself up, and funny enough, that passage from Romans 5 is my favorite in all of Scripture. I came from a very old school "non-denominational" church in Pennsylvania that was a bit out there when it came to some doctrinal things, as with most churches, some good some bad. They believed that God was to be trusted for All, and I mean all, things physically and to rely on anything man made for health was wrong and not biblical, this is where the verse was uses to "support" the claim. This meant hospitals, doctors, and medicine. I am a third generation in that church but left when I was a teen. My family still follows that practice even though we aren't part of the church. It's hard to unlearn a bad habit, I guess. It very much bothers my conscience because it's so engraved in my mind that even thinking of taking advil for terrible headaches feels like I'm wrong or sinning. Part of me knows that God is always to be our strength and what we go to for help, and the other part knows we have these things because we have been given authority over Earth.
I am married and have 2 kids now, and I don't want to harm my family because of a wrong belief or a messed up up bringing.
Again, I greatly appreciate the help ❤ you have been a massive help in my life the last 2 years, and I'm so grateful to have had the chance to learn much from you.

Hi Luke. If you don't mind me asking, what ministry/church was that? I am moving to PA next month and I'm already looking at churches around there. I would like to avoid that one. I've also dealt with some brothers in Christ that believed that we shouldn't use medicine. However, many hospitals were founded by Christians. Thanks for all you do Mike. One comment on your answer to question number 6... i think you are spot on with the exception of this. We are forgiven once and for all when we believe in Christ's finished work on the cross. What the young man who asked this question needs to understand is now that he is a believer there is now no condemnation. So if he thinks he needs to repent for every single thing, he is going to get caught in a cycle of falling, feeling bad, and falling again. What he needs to understand is that he is holy and righteous and when he falls, he is still holy and righteous because of his position in Christ. So nothing wrong with going to God after falling into sin but and even saying you are sorry, but quickly remember that you are complete in Christ and remeber that you have been forgiven for all sins (past, present, and future) already.
I’m a 34 yo woman who became more and more modest over time because I truly didn’t understand it’s purpose. No one taught me that its purpose is to protect me. Not just from abuse, mind you. I mean in every way. I’m protecting my integrity, my husband’s reputation, my OWN reputation, my body and spirit from those who lust. I’m also showing my girl’s that my worth and theirs, isn’t in our clothes or body.
Modesty is tough because in our culture now, we’re told that modesty is bad because it assumes we’re to be ashamed of what’s under clothing. It’s so far from the truth! We need to be modest because we are worth PROTECTING! ❤
I agree that our culture teaches that dressing modestly hurts our self image, I do not see it as biblical though. This is why the bible teaches us to not be part of the worldly ways. It is tough though because than we look strange. Dressing modestly does not trigger men and boys who struggle with lustful thoughts though, it protects them. I, a women, can see the difference between dressing sexy and not dressing sexy, a man sees it too. It says in the bible to dress modestly.

If a guy is determined to think inappropriately about a woman, it won't matter how much or how little she's wearing, he's going to think what he's going to think. It doesn't matter if she's wearing the most conservative clothing ever, or nothing at all. Women (and men) should dress modestly to present and carry themselves as someone worthy of respect, not out of some kind of "do it for the men" kind of thinking. The whole "do it for the men" kind of thinking is extremely insulting to men, women, and Jesus alike. As just one example it tries to put responsibility for the man's sin on the woman and portrays men as mindless animals that can't control themselves and that's just wrong. As a man, I alone am responsible for my thoughts and actions, the woman is not.
Do you read the bible? A man is responsible for his own actions and what he does with his thoughts, but how a women dresses can trigger a man to lustful thoughts. It is biblical for women to dress modestly. Their heart and motives are in it too. There are many verses how a women, and everyone are to dress. God says how people dress and carry themselves is important and take consideration, according to the verses that is inspired from God. God looks at motives, He can see everyone's heart.

As a 33 year old woman I found response to question 6 so helpful. I don’t have an issue with lust typically, but I found a lot of what Mike said to be helpful in other areas. I constantly struggle with irritability. I hate it, and it constantly has me feeling horrible all the time. I strive to be a Proverbs 31 woman, but this is a big hinderance that has me falling short everyday. I don’t want to be this way, I’ve prayed and repented more times than I can count on this issue, but it still happens. I feel like the response for this question is something I really needed to hear.
Tip 1: Start by not trying to mimic a Proverbs 31 woman.
Tip 2: Take Paul's views of women in church leadership roles with a pinch of salt.
Now begin to observe how much suppressed stress begins to leave you...

Something to consider. If you are on any medication, get off of them. Including birth control. Also, make sure you eat a healthy diet consisting of non-genetically engineered food. Take a vitamin d supplement. Sometimes irritable feelings can be caused by gut health being poor. May God guide your heart.

Also, please be careful with vitamin D supplements if you aren't certain you're deficient, and even if you are, make sure you don't overdose. Like most vitamins, vitamin D becomes harmful in high doses.
Lastly, a healthy and well balanced diet according to one's personal needs is indeed helpful for the mind, true. But there's nothing about GMOs specifically that would make eating them make you irritable.

My baby sister had her son baptized earlier this year. I wasn't going to go but my grandma wanted a ride so I went. I dont know if I am wrong for saying this but i felt so werid being there like there might have been a demon present. Not sure but I just felt very strange.
Why would you think there would be a demon there?
We can cast out demons in the name of Jesus. Just continue to pray for your nephew every day, same as for the rest of your family, that He be guided by the angels and protected from demons o their influence.
A person can be rebaptized as an adult. Even if they were an adult the first time and realize later that they had been just going through the motions without true understanding.

Thanks for addressing the catholic issues (and thanks for the people who asked!). Living in a very catholic country in South America, most people seem to believe in the God of the bible. I just haven't figured out how to detect if they are truly saved or just traditional. Sometimes it shows in their lives or in conversations but not always.
Regarding TikTok: When I first made an account (it was to follow my adult “kids”) I was not impressed… but now my entire “For you page” is about Jesus! And it’s given me the opportunity to message and reach people that I never would have known existed! I’ve answered questions and helped explain biblical principles and I’ve had questions of my own answered in addition to basic brotherly encouragement from others! It’s not all bad but it does offer the temptations of idleness and potentially sinful content! But I think if your eyes are fixed on Jesus… you can scroll right past those nasty things and create a space that brings Him glory! Obviously with wisdom and discernment being at the forefront of your mind! 🙌🏻♥️

Question 6 Asking God for the infilling of the Holy Spirit really will give believers a greater ability to resist temptation! The Holy Spirit is The Helper and Teacher, Guide and Comforter. Focus on be, being filled, continuously have Faith you will receive the power to become a true son of God! In your weakness He is Strong and His strength is perfected in our weakness! And all the helpful things Mike did mention. Exercise your Faith in the promises Jesus gave you about giving you the gift of the Holy Spirit and as a gift, nothing you can do on your own will earn this gift. If you aren’t truly filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit you will struggle so much more often to no avail. Avoid the unnecessary media like a fast. Fast forward through any scenes that are about to get graphic about showing sexual content, mute the sound immediately too. Pray for those who are slaves to sin in this area, and yourself too. Anytime you are surprised while watching a show. Don’t listen to corrupt rap music!
Great advice and thoughts! I have a few more, for the person who asked quesetion 6 or others who struggle with lust.
1. Get to know God, and to REALLY appreciate what he saved you FROM, and the infinite GOOD he saved you TO. If you were in prison on Death Row, and you could pay $1 billion to get out but of course didn't have the money, and someone came along and PAID IT ALL, would you not be grateful to them with all your heart, for the rest of your life? God did so much MORE for you than that! Whenever you recognize a temptation, say what Joseph said when Potiphar's wife tried to seduce him. He explained how Potiphar had trusted him with EVERYTHING and given him EVERYTHING except his wife (of course), and so "How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?" How, when God has done SO MUCH for you, can you go through with spitting in his face and feeding your own sinful desire? As you understand this more and know God and what he did for you more deeply, sin will become much easier to say NO to.
2. In a time when you are not being tempted, think through what you would say to someone who sees you reject porn, or stop gazing at a girl you shouldn't be, or knows you do not participate in sexual immorality and try to keep your mind clean. What will you tell them? Get this solidified in your mind, and ask an older and wiser man who is a strong Christian (maybe a youth pastor or senior pastor) if what you would say makes sense, and maybe they can help you think through what you would say. Then picture yourself in your mind saying that to others, and feeling God's smile on you, and even if they laugh at you or think you're weird, continuing to feel God's smile on you and being glad ahead of time that you chose to do the right thing. This will be a witness to others that your faith, and God, are real.
I will pray for you who struggle with this regularly. I know I did and so many others have and still do!

Question #2, please consider the following:
Philippians 2:8
Finally brothers and sisters whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is admirable, whatever is lovely --if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think on these things..
A few thoughts on questions 6 and 12, but also question 5 especially. I've had some amazing ministering opportunities in games. It was also games that gave me an appreciation for what a great-uncle did during WWII at such a young age.
6: I was saved when I was 8 and like dude in this question I too struggled in that area, sometimes with what I thought was lust and sometimes legitimate lust. Too many people today conflate attraction with lust and it's not the same thing at all. One thing that gave me alot of peace was when someone in my life explained it like this. You are allowed to appreciate someone's beauty without it being more than that. Suppose one has a sister and she's gotten ready for her prom and is all dressed up and such. If you think she's pretty in that moment, it doesn't suddenly mean you're thinking inappropriate things. Same goes for one's female friends as well. Suppose you pass a woman in a Walmart and you notice she's attractive, how you react next determines whether it's good or bad. Do you keep walking and just make a mental note of "God you made a knockout with that one"? Assuming you're both single, do you approach her and treat her like a daughter of the king in the process? Or do you turn around to stare at her inappropriately and walk into a pole as a result? The first two are fine, the third is not. You may not be able to control every thought that pops into your mind, but you can choose whether to give it power or not. If you're having struggles in that area or related things, remember in Romans 5 you're standing in grace already, and per Hebrews 9 and Hebrews 10, your sin of lust was already dealt with at the cross and you now have the ability to go to Jesus and say you're struggling in that department without fear. Keep your focus on him and in time you'll lose the desire to do the things you used to do. He's always working in us to desire to do better and do his will and good works (Philippians 2:13).
12: I agree with most of what was said by Pastor Mike here, but disagree on one bit. So first up, I'm of the mindset crop tops CAN be acceptable dress depending on the circumstances, but there are some instances where it's not. Some examples where it could be appropriate, is it a very hot day out and she's doing it to keep cool? Or another example, is she going to the gym or participating in an activity where said top might not restrict her movements as much? Some examples where it would be inappropriate imo, church for one, school or professional environment being two more. Far as a girl or woman wearing it to church, I don't believe it's appropriate for a venue like that BUT at the same time I don't think it's as big an issue as people make it out to be. Personally I would rather she be there in church wearing a crop top where she can hear the gospel and we know she's safe vs being out in the streets doing who knows what. With that in mind, what one wears and how you carry yourself can have an effect on how people perceive you. Not meant as bashing men or women but something to keep in mind. Now where I disagree with Pastor Mike is on whether a bikini is appropriate or not. There are modest bikinis just as there are crop tops. If we're going to say bikini's are inappropriate because they show too much, then at the same time we also have to say it's inappropriate for men to only wear swim trunks or a speedo since it shows just as much. Otherwise you have a double standard. Biggest thing I would say on the matters of clothing outside of blatantly obvious examples, follow your conscience. If you feel convicted or so on by wearing certain outfits then don't wear them. Kind of like how I personally can drink alcohol on occasion and be fine where as others can't. Not the best comparison but you get the idea.
5: As a gamer this one I definitely have some thoughts on. So big thing I would say is that video games are essentially interactive books or digital sandboxes and have no more power over a person than they're given. Just like there are some very screwed up scenes in books or movies, you can do some pretty messed up stuff in certain games. I've played a host of games of various genres over the years from rated E for everyone to M for mature. In some games I've done some pretty messed up stuff, such as wiping out entire civilizations and blowing up planets. I've also been that person fighting for justice and protecting folks as able in games. Now in reality would I ever wipe out entire civilizations and go Death Star-ing planets just because I could, murdering and pillaging just because I could, of course not. In some games I've played online such as some of the earlier Call of Duty games, you could play as a nazi officer as it was allies vs axis for the multiplayer. Aside from certain obvious examples where folks probably shouldn't be playing those games, I'm gonna ask what a person is doing in a video game. I'm glad Pastor Mike brought that up, what are you doing in the game and how does it effect you? The big question I would ask is can you maintain that barrier between reality and fiction? In some games I can control elemental magic such as summoning lava and slapping people with it, or firing lightning from my fingers. Am I going to stand in front of a moving semi and try to blast it before it gets to me, not unless I want to meet Jesus early I'm certainly not. Video games are essentially interactive books that can be used for great good or great evil. In fact when I played World of Warcraft years ago I was able to share the gospel with some people in a few of the cities in game. One guy i talked with for 6 hours answering questions he had. For all I know that's another guy that will be in Heaven some day. A game isn't automatically bad just because it's violent, or automatically good just because it's not.
A final bit on this point, it was actually Call of Duty Finest Hour that gave me an appreciation for what a Great-Uncle of mine did during WWII. During the final level of the game you storm Ludendorf Bridge, or the bridge across the Rhine. As you fight your way across the bridge you come under fire from the MG-42 nests at the end of the bridge and have to pick up a sniper rifle and take down the enemy guys. You can hear the buzzsaw like sounds of the MG-42s firing and the rounds hitting the metal in front of you. When you captured the bridge and the end credits roll, it played video interviews with actual WWII soldiers. It was as violent as the ratings would allow. For me a 13yr old kid at the time, It drove home for me what they went through. I later asked my mom about the war knowing my great uncle had served and if it was really like the game portrayed. My mom knew my great uncle was coming up to visit us in a few weeks and called him to ask if he would be willing to talk to me about some of the things he went through. She explained to him that I had played the game and got to the final level and knew it had an effect on me knowing he served. He agreed to talk to me about it. He told me what he thought I could understand and handle hearing at 13. It wasn't the greatest amount of detail, but it gave me a newfound respect for my great uncle and what all of those guys went through. He was never in any major historical battles but he saw enough. I should also add at the time he lied about his age to enlist at 14 because the family needed the money at the time. Mad respect for what he and others did. Today I look at games like that as helping keep the memory of men like him alive.
To your 19th q&a - I’ve been learning about lds beliefs and it’s been very very critical in my conversations to know where they are coming from and discern truth from what they share versus what the Bible says. Like you’ve said Pastor Mike. Same terms but different dictionaries - so know these terms need to be taken deeper to find those differences has been imperative to make sure we know what we each are talking about.

For anyone who comes across my comment and who listened to the question about lust and sexual sin, as someone who saw sexual situations from a very young age, was sexually abused, and even after being saved, and now into my 40s and still struggling with lust almost daily, I want to encourage you with what I feel are the 2 most important practical takeaways from Mike's commentary on lust.
First, pray when the thoughts start coming up, and (if possible) get out of the place you're currently at. Pray for deliverance from those temptations, and then go for a walk, go play with the dog, get out of your bedroom and watch TV in the family room, whatever you can do to take yourself away from the place you're currently in and struggling in. The number of times this has put me back into the correct mindset is astounding. He's right. If you attack the flame when it's small, it's easier to extinguish than when it's a full-on fire.
Second, don't let the shame or guilt of failing to be perfect, failing to stay faithful, failing to stay pure, keep you from returning to God in prayer. Mike said, immediately repent. One of my personal hangups for a long time was wanting to come before God right after my sin. It's maybe a few minutes after my sin, I still felt dirty, I felt unworthy of Him hearing my words, and I felt like I didn't even deserve to be saved. Sometimes even feeling that maybe because I continued to sin that I must not be saved. And whether that's just your internal monologue, or maybe evil spirits placing those thoughts in your mind, Satan wants to use our brokenness, our guilt, our shame, our hate for ourselves and our sin, to keep us from God. Don't let those thoughts win. As a child who's been adopted into the Lord's kingdom, you have been made worthy, even in your most broken and shameful moments, because of our Lord Jesus Christ, to come before the Father. So I strongly encourage you to work past those feelings of not wanting to be in God's presence because of your shame. Don't let Satan win. Just get on your knees, speak to the Father, repent, thank Him for salvation through our Lord's free gift, and of course, ask Him to continue strengthening you and improving on you.
And as a final comment, I want to remind those who feel like they've prayed and prayed, even with all their heart, tears dripping from your face, to be delivered from your sinful feelings and desires, and still have yet to see a broken part of you be fixed, that sometimes God works miracles, and sometimes He chooses to hold back on a miracle, but both are to His glorification. I've seen and heard from people whose prayers were answered, and something changed in their personality, by the glorious work and power of the Lord, and they were delivered from a particular type of sin. Praise God! But my life so far has been the counterexample. I've prayed fervently countless times, tears in my eyes, crying out to God to be delivered. I've read my Bible daily and prayed daily. I've read books on the topic of sexual addiction. Worked with organizations. Etc. And I still struggle. But I believe it's still to God's glory, just in a different way. My sins and struggles against sin remind me that I'm a sinner in need of the sanctifying and redemptive love of the Lord Jesus Christ, and subsequently it keeps me humble. I'm near-daily reminded of how broken I am, and how broken we all are, and I still glorify the Lord for His grace and mercy, and the Lord is still with me.
I will continue to struggle against my sin as often as it arises, praying, asking others to pray for me, reading about it, asking for help, etc. and maybe someday I'll be graced with a miracle. But even if I never receive that miracle in this life, because of my trust in my Lord Jesus to help me bear my burdens, I know that (at minimum) the Lord will deliver me from the evil that dwells within me in the next life.
Keep doing the good things that you're doing. Don't give up on yourself. Don't give up on God. And don't let your guilt keep you from our Lord God. This is a fight we must continue in until we die, but the Lord Jesus already holds the victory. All praise the God who made a way for us to be with Him in the next life. He loves us more than we sometimes feel or know.

Mike, you're so right on your response about women wearing revealing clothing. I used to dress that way in my 20s (before I was saved) and can confirm that there is a mixture of motivations. Sometimes you just want to look cute and fashionable and other times you're competing with other women and then other times you're intentionally looking for attention from men. I don't think any of these motivations glorify God. I agree that we shouldn't focus on this too much and cause division in the church, but at the same time encourage women to reflect on their motivations for why they dress the way they dress and advise that they pray about it.

I read Smith’s books because I was raised LDS. The problem with it is that his translation of the Bible is very off from the Hebrew and Greek old manuscripts we have available for comparison, he even fabricated a prophecy of himself in the last chapter of Genesis.
There’s no evidence that the Book of Mormon and the Book of Abraham are more than works of fiction. But there’s evidence that his claims of divine revelation for translation of such works are fraudulent.

Regarding the video games question: I think there’s more discussion to be had about the morality of embodying an evil character. Writers do this when they write books, don’t they? We don’t typically criticize them for writing a despicable villain.
Playing a bad person in a game can be an interesting exercise. I don’t often make “evil” choices in games as I’m very sensitive, but I don’t know if I’d say it is wrong. I think it depends on your heart.
Some games, like Grand Theft Auto, I see as more of a satire of bad people - not a celebration.
I think we all need to recognize that we are capable of evil. But that doesn't mean we embody the evil. I don't think C. S. Lewis embodied evil to write Narnia. He knows what evil looks like and what it talks like. Someone like Heath Ledger did embody evil and it changed who he was, he died of an overdose.
It depends on the story too. Does the villain reap consequences? Does the villain have a good motive but have a misguided way of doing things that’s perhaps revealed over time? Are we playing a bad guy who goes through character development? Are we temporarily playing the bad guy as part of a larger story? There are too many factors for one answer.
For question 10: to expand upon it, and reinforce the "practice of sinning" 1 John says this: if we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. I have some questions about the first John passage. I was saved when I was twelve and grew to love the Lord more when I was in my teens and early twenties. But I became a slave to alcohol and eventually hard drugs. I was living a lifestyle of sin. Every time I would get sober though, I would feel pulled towards God and want to get right with him. I would go through these little periods where I would be wanting to be close to God followed with relapse has into a bad life style. Is this a practice of sending? I struggled hardcore with addiction for about 6 years. Thankfully God has given me freedom! It has also been a lot of breaking down of strongholds and renewing of my mind, as I experienced a lot of trauma and abuse as a child and young adult. How do I reconcile my experience with scripture? I resonate so much with the story of The prodigal son, I did squandering my inheritance and live recklessly. But I did feel drawn back to God and God completely forgave me and cleansed me. But how do I reconcile this with scriptures that say if you make a practice of sinning you're not a child of God? I'm convinced that I've been saved since I was twelve, I had a very real salvation experience and have felt God drawing me throughout my life.

I personally believe that the falling away is a spiritual destruction which is a means to separate the wheat from the tares, the sheep from the goats, the people who know their God from the people that prefer flattering lies.
I could be wrong, but I believe the falling away is happening right now and has been going on for about 4-5 years.
Even if I'm wrong about everything, I desperately want to be with Christ now. The people of this world are cruisin for a bruisin.

Paul doesn't say "abomination of desolation", but he describes the abomination of desolation. again referring to scripture (old testament) which is what all the apostles always did.
however what Paul doesn't say is that the "gathering of the saints" happens immediately after. he does say the abomination of desolation has to happen first, but that doesn't mean the "rapture" happens immediately afterwards.
in fact, in both 1 Thess 4-5 and 2 Thess 2 Paul describes the "rapture" or the gathering together, and the second coming as a singular event labelled the day of the Lord. doing further research as to what the day of the Lord is throughout all old testament prophets (except Jonah) reveals all the details you need have about that day and when it is. unfortunately it doesn't line up with typical "rapture" belief, or even in a "you go to heaven" belief at all.
old testament vividly describes that on the day of the Lord is when the first resurrection occurs, when Jesus returns to claim His throne and kingdom, when the treading of the winepress happens, the wrath of the Lamb, when Jesus touches down on the mount of olives and splits it into two, when Christ brings His rewards, etc etc. its all at the very end.
so when the 'gathering together' occurs, who is gathering? those who are resurrected at the first resurrection, Rev 20:6 blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. In regards to violence in videogames and roleplaying games, I don't think they are necessarily evil. An accurate representation of reality doesn't quite correlate with an enjoyment of delight in harm either, but of course there _are_ people who do. This is a fallen world after all. Being evil in a roleplaying game can also be an interesting thought experiment, not necessarily an application of human delight in causing harm to others either. It might just be me though. Even in my 'evil' playthroughs or when I play an 'evil' character I'm always still inclined towards 'good' choices.
On the off chance that anyone who is trying to minister to someone in the occult reads this, a great resource you have at your disposal is to listen to testimonies of people who have left the occult and then saved by Jesus. They will reveal the truth of what is really going on between occult practices and you will have your mind enlightened by people who have been there but if turned to Jesus!

On question 15 I lean towards the check engine light explanation. Jesus says something very similar in Mark 11 that gives us a hint. The whole passage speaks on having faith to cast the mountain into the see or receive what you ask for in prayer. He then says forgive so that your Father may forgive you. All of these things Jesus talks about are contingent on the initial thesis he gives saying " have faith in God." So the only way to be able to forgive others and be forgiven by God is by faith in Him.
Q. Do you believe that every person has the ability to understand the bible, what it means, how it relates to our lives. Have we all ability to decipher the bible? For example being good at english, maths or art. What parts of the bible do you not understand?

In regards to the lust question, thanks for that answer. As a 35 year old, single man it's hard not to lust. Especially being tempted almost every single second with technology & the way women decide to dress. The Lord built women good & alot of them know it..
one thing to keep in mind is attraction is not lusting. lusting is an intent on your behalf, but attraction is built into us by God. we're created to be attracted to the wonderful creation of women

I went through a time when I considered myself a Satanist, and I was reading a lot of these esoteric, mystical, and even evil texts. I even thought I was gaining powers over the weather and all sorts of nonsense.. Naturally, after becoming a Christian, I was reticent to ever read these again; however, now that I have spiritually matured some, I can say with al honesty, I can safely read all things. I really had to strengthen my mind in theology and Christian philosophy most of all. I listened to Dr. William Lane Craig's series, Defenders - Series 2, many times (i.e., tens of times), mostly just by listening to it, and carefully considering every sentence of it, while I was in the shower each day (the small amount of time daily really adds up). Now, my faith is built on a rock-solid foundation in Christ. I would suggest that you do likewise.
This is why I stick to my beloved KJV. ❤ Not the Mormon bible or any other modern translation. Too many verses have been taken out and/or their meanings changed to the extent that it changes doctrine.

I'm a woman who is learned what modesty was later after my faith had matured a bit in later years, I do think girls not only have a cultural view of what's comfortable or appropriate, but the fashion industry and manufacturers also make it close to impossible for girls to dress modestly and for parents to buy more modest clothes for them. Shorts for girls have almost no length of inseam, most shirts are too short or are see-through and need to be layered, and if they go for jeans or leggings, now they're skin-tight. Even for toddlers and children under 10 years old! Boyfriend jeans and mom jeans made a comeback (ew--they died in the 80s and 90s for a reason), which are looser, but guess what tops are paired with them? Crop tops! So girls can either buy this stuff and wear it, even if they're uncomfortable themselves, or buy stuff modest moms wear (and even clothes for grown women is questionable), clothes that's flat out too big for them or buy boys' clothes. Ugh.
I’ve always explained modesty to my kids (male and female) as seeking to dress AND behave in a way that isn’t trying to draw attention to ourselves. 1 Peter seems to say that our goal should be to dress and act in a way that allows the Spirit of Christ to be the thing that people notice about us rather than what we wear or how we act. I’m not legalistic about it, if my son wants to dye his hair blue for a baseball tournament, to show team spirit, that’s great. But if he wants to dye his hair blue and dress all in black to draw attention, to himself and how “different” he is, now we need to have a conversation about modesty. Clothing that is revealing on girls will distract men who come into contact with her from noticing her godly spirit even and maybe especially if they as men are trying to behave in a godly manner. It’s just distracting from what’s important.
