      The biggest skill example I can ever use is that pro's can surf body boards. With no fins. And still shred them.
      None of us could do that in our wildest dreams. That's how large the skill gap is.
      I still enjoy Stab in The Dark - almost purely just to see the pro's do their thing - but since they did the stupid ass pay portal, I have lost interest in even wanting to watch it. Could care less.
      80% of surfers will get more out of Kale, than just watching the pretty visuals of a pro do their thing. Of course, most of us enjoy both. But Stab are really losing the core of their audience - the 80% of them - and Kale is catering to them. Ain't rocket surgery.

    Awesome round 2... I love the honesty regarding the boards. You are a really good surfer so it is interesting how you are choosing boards that are fun and easy to ride. Like you said... No one is paying you to ride these boards... I think a lot of us choose boards on marketing hype or some other factors that don't take into account our own riding style, ability, and needs.. Just a great lesson for us all that even someone like yourself didn't like what would be considered "Pro" models. Great job Brock. Have a great trip down the coast. I feel like pros would know the difference in foot placement not only on different boards but different finbox placement and how the acquired taste isn't just about jumping on and ripping. It's definitely your approach to each wave and desires that set your stance inturn defining the boards compliance with your thoughts. They're not mind-readers. U have to actually adjust accordingly. Plus if your one of the guys that loves the way a huge swallowed out twin rides and yes they tend to just go with the flow unless u want to truly engage with the wave no wasted energy and movement and ur not one of the minority that make a living with that laid back style or the pure talent pros that ride em on lay days your not going to get the same idea that ur ripping with a board right out the box without a bit of adjustments. Especially with the variety of sick boards u were given. The deminsions are easy to grasp but the suddleties like rail pinch and concave or even where the volume is like the fin placement is as paramount as flex from different build materials and where / when they were shaped. These shapers weren't making u step up or downs or even clones of previous successes but seemed to have a consensus of ur generalities based of height and weight I assume and that works generally if each is given the proper considerations and would be in normal circumstances by the average surfer who footed the bill for any one of those wips. I get the clip and am astonished you were hooked up so well. I just don't think u gave justice to any of them really even the doormats of course are going to all ride the same. There for anyone to jump on and feel like there going ham right out the box. There called fun boards for a reason. No offense ment and in person I'm sure I could articulate it much better if this is truly news somehow. Maybe I should read the other command because I'm just tripping and there were more or less factors than I know.
    Be stoked off ur ass u got hooked up with so many sick sleds bud.tnars a dream quiver for above advredge surfers . The u tube genie hooked u up and I hope u realize that.

    What fins were you using and how do you decide the left or right for which board?
    Sounds like you would have been better to try a smaller rear fin in the lsd

    I appreciate your genuine opinion for a chlorine Wave pool but Salt water and decent waves make the world of differences.

    Hey Kale. Just curious as to your height and weight? Been looking at Album's Twinsman in a 5'8. I'm 5'8 185 lbs and surf mostly beach break Florida not so good surf. I'm an intermediate to advanced surfer/ weekend warrior/ I used to surf a lot better haha type surfer. My normal everyday thruster shortboard is 5'8 32 liters epoxy and floats me fine, but looking for something a little more fun. But looking for an everyday driver that's an easy choice even if the waves get good! Do you recommend going your height, or shorter? What construction is the Twinsman you're riding? Thanks for your great videos!

      I wouldn’t say bored but there was an element of tediousness

    The MR were potentially not the best fins for the Red Baron. The FCS Power Twin is amazing for that board. I’ve tried the MR, Power Twin and Twin Keels and the Power Twin enhances everything about the Baron.

    Interesting Survey Kale, BUT there is one very big factor you seem to overlook ........ it appears that You only use one shape and size fin set in every 3 fin board you try ..... then complain that some boards are too stiff or not drivey enough - when by simply adding a smaller rear fin to loosen the board up, or by using larger/different shape fins for extra Drive could have transformed an average board into an Excellent one very easily ........ I know in my own quiver how a set of fins that goes fantastic in one board completely bog down in another, and I've very nearly dismissed some designs as "pigs" if not for a simple fin change.

    • @KalesBroccoli
      @KalesBroccoli  3 роки тому

      Next time it will be shaper recommended fins. Just don’t have time to change fins for every board it takes it from 11 boards to 30+ which is logistically impossible

    You nailed the Subdriver 2 !, Ive got a custom Lightspeed Swallow Subdriver Lightspeed ( not Subdriver 2 ) and its awesome in the pool. I bought a Subdriver 2 same Dims aswell when it came out and it felt really hard work compared to my original

      Don’t rule it out, I just think the original is really good, also my custom was made in Oz and it’s a super lite glass job in light speed. The Sub 2 I got was made in Thailand and it had heaps of glass on it , looked like a thick coat . And felt heavier
