WHAT IT IS // LYRICS:
Pretty soon you have to deal
With the truth behind the way you feel
And I'd rather never know
I would do anything anything
Not to bring who I am to meet me
This useless suffering
Ugly part of me is screwing me
As it feeds me
But it is what it is
You don't know how to live with what it is
But it is what it is
It may seem impossible
But I will embrace who I really am
If it's a son of a bitch or a terrified kid
Then that's what it is
Pretty soon you'll have to face
You're a virus called the human race
And I'll never never know
I have done everything everything
Not to feel what it is I'm feeling
This basement devil is kicking the ass
Of my angel on the ceiling
But it is what it is
You don't know how to live with what it is
But it is what it is
It may seem impossible
But I will embrace who I really am
If it's a son of a bitch or a terrified kid
Then that's what it is
Don't push me, don't kill me
What it is cause it is what it is
Don't play games, don't mess with
What it is cause it is what it is
Don't ask me, don't tell me
What it is cause it is what it is
Don't push me, don't kill me
What it is cause it is what it is
Don't run from where you come from
Cause it is what it is
And I
And I
But it is what it is
You don't know how to live with what it is
But it is what it is
It may seem impossible
But I will embrace who I really am
If it's a son of a bitch or a terrified kid
Then that's what it is

Jonathan Davis, the guy who saved my life, I remember when I first met him in 2011, I was 19 years old, the only thing I said to him was: "Thanks Jon you saved my life", He looked at me, smiled and said: "I'm glad". One of the best days of my life
Godbless you!! brother
TheJonasix when I first met him him in 2010 I told him he was amazing, he replied with "no, you're amazing". he truly appreciates his fans.
toby56 I want to get a backstage pass so bad so I can meet him
He is a good guy but I was in your shoes before
The best celebrities are typically rock or metal leads
Who still bumpin in 2024❤
Here
Hell yes. #Korn4Lyfe
yes
Shit I just found this one and 😳 WOW
Me back again right now although I was listening to it on Spotify more than on here.
This song just ... is exactly what it is.
I truly hope Jonathan knows how many people his music saved and how many of us are still here because of him.
He knows. That's why he's still here 30 years later
So true
No joke
Ain't that the fucking truth
Me I'm here because of him, it's hard with schizophrenia but he eases things
Jonathan and Korn spoke to a whole generation of outcasts and misunderstood teens, and I have been one of those kids, a long time ago. Thank you, Jonathan, for everything!
I dig it for sure. One of the most unique voices In history.
I got hooked in ´93 when i first heard "are you ready?"..... i sure was
Dominic Robbins unique? Hmmm probably not. Indistinguishable from Marilyn Manson imo.
Moose MM's a bit deeper imo but yes they are similar but only when JD sings on a lower voice. When he sings on higher tone or does heavy singing/guttural, it's completely different than MM's.
you need to get your ears checked, mate =)
schnuzz Is this message for me...?
He shouted out all my fears when I was teenager. His voice eased the pain. I'm really grateful. Thank you Jonathan. You're my best company.
It's been 22 years now, and I still keep coming back to this man's voice.
Jonathan has left a legacy that will echo for eternity.
Besides being a musician and singer, Jonathan is also a great psychotherapist. Big "thank you" for being out there!
I never get tired of his voice
I know what you mean, I can binge listen to his music and not get bored. I've been listening to this song on repeat for like 3 days now.
His voice is the Prozac of a generation...countless souls have been saved because of this man's voice...he is a gift.
His voice and his lyrics which a lot of us can relate to
Are you referring to the rapper Prozac?
Jesse This is one of those confusing internet situations where I'm genuinely unsure of sarcasm.... Please correct -
skyelark155 ? Whatcha talking bout little boy?
Josh Bucton ? I just asked if the dude was referring to the rapper named Prozac. What sarcasm did you think I was speaking of? 🤔
Can we all just agree that Jonathan Davis is one of rock's best frontman...?
Nothing can defeat me but myself. I’m 67 in August and I love this fucking song .
It's only my opinion but... I think Jonathan has a voice of an Angel!
Not just yours ;)
For some of us, he is one
@@jaideesky7721 ewww
@@matin2825 whats your problem
@@jaideesky7721 srry, I read "no just yours". Would be very cheesy if you wrote that
There will never be another JD ..
Rony Ro Very true
Exactly, but there will always be inspiration and such.
But Jonathan is just unique and creepy to the point how amazing it is, twisted, powerful words, his hurting feeling and reviving voice etc. JD is amazing
jebac disa kurwe zwisa
The world needs to learn who to heal from this man.... love you JD
Think about his lyrics.... dude knows what's coming . Pure genious
what it is is that jonathan davis is a musical genius.
Raymond DeLeon : I agree!! Love his work!!!
Raymond DeLeon nothong like mike patton
lol
Raymond DeLeon yeah sir jonathan davis its one of my favorite
Raymond DeLeon You've read my mind
I'm 35...after years and years...his voice is still something special to me...that heals my soul! one and only #JonathanDavis
Glad to hear that!! Much Love!!
loš mofo Couldn't agree more:)
loš mofo same here. Everytime I think I'm going to lose it he is right there with something new.
35 year here, Korn kinda shaped who I am from a nerdy bookworm to a metal musician, sometimes he annoys the shit out of me, and sometimes he's simply genius.
Amen
My Personal Jesus, words to live by. Man should be a prophet. Jonathan Davis your words speak to my heart
Hello, how are you today? It’s nice to meet you on here.
I believe most of the artists out there such as Johnathan makes a song just to be a song yet most realizing how it can effect people such as myself.Listening to the lyrics and absolutely understanding ... everyone is so so lucky im still here.
This man was my idol during my troubled teenage years, now I’m a grown ass man well in my 30s and his voice still brings so much peace to my soul... thank you for such a great gift.
Right on!
It is something about him that can heal... he makes me feel like this entire thing in my life will be OK even if it may or may not be OK... I am so lucky to have someone and something to turn to that makes me feel like I am not insane! I love him, too!

WQQKIE I got you man follow-the-leader Life is Peachy and issues with my teenage years those are good times and Jonathan's Voice still lives on
I love how Jonathan Davis has been working without a rest since 1994.
No ten years hiatus for him.
Constantly making great music.
It's one of the only things that seems to give him respite from his dark past. His family, his music, and video games. It's cathartic for him I think.
No his not in disturbed Who go on a 10 year break
Since 1993*
Jonathan - yes... you've helped so many of us. Thank you❤
Hello, how are you today? It’s nice to meet you on here.
Korn got me through a very troubling teenage life 20-25 years ago. Jon drowned out the suffering by talking about his own. Seeing them for the 3rd time in London this summer. Absolutely love this man
KoRn got me through a lot of shit growing up. Jonathan's voice has always touched my soul. This song is absolutely beautiful. We love you Jon
I do agree with you wolfe
R. Wolfe will see him the25th
This is not a song, this is an experience. Thanks JDevil
I will never get over these lyrics. They are so true to life itself. The world is sinful and corrupt and we have to accept that about ourselves. Like the first step to even trying to be a better person is to acknowledge it and accept the presence of it. Sometimes though we are stuck with traits and issues that we can't change but we can help make it better. Sadly it is what it is 🤷♀️ Good song Jonathon Davis. I connect with your pain.
Man this comment gave me chills, so true
This has got to be JDs best song his singing and everything is phenomenal on this forever a classic and korn legend 😊🙏
This video is awesome. I can’t wait to hear the solo album.

i cant tell you how many times ive tried to contact Jonathan Davis but if theres anyone out therre who can please tell him i said thank yiu, i would really appreciate it, this song brought me to tears before i did something stupid, he saved me, again.. thank you.. -Robb Flock
I grow up with him and Korn since I was a kid and here I am with 37 years old. I will never get tired of listening him❤️🔥
One of the best songwriters of our time
is he?
I love his music, but saying he´s "one of the best songwriters of our time" seems quite a bit to far fetched for me.
I leave my opinion and I hurt all your guy's feelings...come on now.
Michael Forrest he's definitely one of my favorite songwriters of the 2000s
He said one of the best. Not THE BEST. theres lots of room for more people with being "one of the best" song writers. Lol you guys are taking this too literal
Thank you, Jonathan Davis, for your amazing words, your amazing voice, your ability to reach into you my soul and make me feel.
Wes Borland on guitar. Glad to see that the KoRn & Bizkit connection is still going strong after all these years. Loving this tune!
Oh I did not know that. The guitars do sound great actually, and the song is great too.
That's awesome. I didn't know Wes played guitar in this song either. Thanks for the information.
I'm going through therapy at the moment and damn this was in my head after the session. I've just listened again and it is how I feel down to a T. Currently on repeat, it is such a comfort. Thank you Jonathan. Korn got me through as a kid and here you are again getting through as an adult.
@Jonathan Davis Music is powerful and has been so healing for me. I'm from the Midlands in the UK. I am in a better place, still figuring stuff out but your music has touched my soul and helped me understand myself and my own feelings more. Thank you again ❤
His voice is heavenly! Can't wait for the album
One of the best male voice of this era !
Spotcase - Olivier Jacquet indeed!
When does it go out ?
Heinrich Himmler it just says 2018. I hope it comes out soon! Really hyped about it
YASH SINGH I feel in paradise every time I hear his voice. Just perfect
Perfect voice!
New. Stuff ??
His lyrics are always getting me deep in my psyche, he's like a psychedelic psychotherapist. A Sage singer
Кто бы что не говорил но он гений. И пожалуй самый гениальный персонаж из ему подобных
Jonathan is a bottomless pit of pure musical talent who possesses a gift to relate to the masses through his speech. thank you jonathan, amazing u can give us korn AND your own material
Wait what?
Dutch Hoffman totally agree with you his music and korns just is some amazing work pure genius
Not to mention that beautiful glorious soundtrack to Queen of the Damned. He was the mastermind behind a lot of it.
Dutch Hoffman o I

Kornforever
How old are you lol? This song is only 2 years old. Not even like its 5 or 10 years old
I always come back to this song in hard times somehow and it makes me cry my fuckin eyes out every time! 4 kids I don't get to see when I want to, I'm living in my van barely staying afloat, just got hit with child support that they want even tho I have nothing and nowhere to go. I'm here for my kids as much as I can be but their mom manipulates and plays games to ruin my life... but it is what it is, your music helps me get through life ever since I was a young boy. 6th grade 1996 I'll never forget getting a mix tape from a friend that had marilyn manson and another band I never heard...KoRn... life changed forever! Long story short, Love you Jon! You help lift me up in this fucked up life. Thank YOU.

Hey. I'm not a pastors kid but I tell you, something in what you said, the exact words you used really resonate in me. It didn't so much "hit hard" but softly and deeply. If you don't write lyrics or poetry I think you should. ⚡Thankyou. Peace.
I love growing old with musicians I've listened to since youth. This a perfect example of age and wisdom coming through the soul behind the music

He is literally a genius
I'm so glad that Jonathan Davids wrote Songs Like This cuz there are children out there in this world who really do feel that way and adults too all Jonathan songs are totally awesome I'm in love with his music
Hello beloved fan 😍😍
I’m 33. At 17, I called myself a Korn freak. Lol. I love JD. What a guy. Top dog.
Kanwar Anand we share same boat. I’m 28, been listening to Korn since my early teens. Johnathan Davis helped me get through high school and songs like Hater, though released several years after I graduated, remind me that I am where I am today because I didn’t let others tear me down.
I still am a korn freak
I'm 33 too, became a KoRnFreek in 2001 when I bought I.S.S.U.E.S., Follow The Leader, Life Is Peachy, KoRn, and Untouchables (2002)...IN THAT ORDER!!!
33 also, When I was 17 I was plunged into the world of JD and KoRn, slowly gravitated away from rock as I aged but I never left my KoRn roots behind, still listen to them now and I'm looking forward to this album.
John and Korn is what first got me hardcore into rock music, I heard them and I haven't looked back yet. I still listen daily, I'll be an old man still blasting Korn! 💀🤘💀
me too bro me too, i started listening when i was 13 and still listen now 32 years of age daily
slade smith hellz yeah I definitely gonna be an old lady jamming to all my rock especially JD!
Don't run from where you come from because it is what it is
I got all you fuckers beat...im 43, and still blasting Korn, Ha Ha
You can feel the emotions he projects through his lyrics, no matter how soft, it hard the song is. To me, Jonathan is a musical genius.
Hello beloved fan 🥰🥰
Jonathan has the voice of an angel. This man saved my life back in 2000. Thank you Bro. God bless you and your family and anyone reading this
I've been a big fan of Korn and Jonathan Davis since the 90's, and will admit he has had his ups and downs in music, but I really like this. Jonathan shows emotion in this!
PrincessMopar I like that he (and Korn) have never been afraid of experimenting and taking a chance. It is what keeps the music fresh and interesting. They had some downs, but I love that Korn returned to more of their original sound.
RIP DEVEN DAVIS
Be strong Jon and kids. We bear with you all.
masashake86 What a negative Nancy you are. Maybe some people respect Jon and thus pay respects. EVen if it's just UA-cam, it's still a form of support .
Much love
For real brother i have faith that you will get through this and be even stronger in the future

We all love Jon because he is not afraid to show his feelings
I am in love with this man's voice.
I love his voice so much, I'm the age of the same generation as him. Grew up not to KoRn but with KoRn being less than 10 years apart in age. So unique and I've watched him continue his success and the numetal sound genre is so neat! I just never get tired of him or KoRn..
Hello, how are you today? It’s nice to meet you here.
Great song!! As a man that suffers with bipolar, anxiety I know the struggle

Buuuuurrrrrnnnn!!!
I owe this guy my life for more than 20 years, thanks for saving me from hell, you are a big part of my life, I love you man!!!

Grow up
Grow Up??? Why because someone is just thanking someone for saving their life... because people can relate to his lyrics when they are in a dark place.... sounds like you need to grow up.
If your life depends on a singer that doesn't even know you, I'm not the one who needs to grow up.
Seriously people...

His voice is so unique. I have always gravitated to it!
cg505able what about his old voice in the first three albums they're obviously two different singing techniques if you really pay close attention which one you think is better is Original singing technique or when he started the Transformers after the fourth album
This is on point. It is what it is. Tired of people telling me what it is causing me to be eccentric I am who I am

Doesn't matter if he's doing his s*** with Korn or by himself his music and lyrics have never disappointed me since the first album 1994 all the way to Serenity of suffering the guy is pure gold. Jonathan is definitely my favorite singer of all time
Same... KoRn and these songs are literally my life.
He was never what made korn. Korn was all about the instrumentals. he's just a washed up singer now.

Angel with the Devil’s voice sound! Awesome & great!!! For me this is truly the first band in the nu metal genre and alternative metal together! Their works became the destination for youth generation & other people who had seen Korn as kind music❤❤❤
He always knows how to get to the heart of your soul and helps heal and sooth it. If it wasn't for his music and his work I wouldn't be here. I lost a set of twins in 97 and his music helped me through those dark days. So much so that I named my son Jonathan after him. Also how is it he keeps getting hotter as he ages?

i have always respected jonathon's ability to write with such emotion and angst..but still be able to capture the melody and draw the listener into the song..great song from a great man
Dont you find it kinda boring that he never changes the subject of his music?
P, he was raped by his father as a kid, he has every right to reach out to those in his shoes. He had a fucked up childhood.
Why no one bothers to read what I stated? I just said JD vocals are not as agressive as they used to be, thats it bro, it is not so hard to understand. Dont you agree with me? He is more soft and calm.
P. Narbal The "subject" of his music, not his voice, will remain because of his past. Everyone getss innto music for different reasons, and Jonathan just happened to get into it based on his past and the fact that he wants to reach out.
When he said it was not his father, rather it was a family friend.
It is what it is ... a good song! And that's what it is!!
