Not many bands can sound this good with no studio help of any kind.....this is why I like this band so much!
No other metal vocalist compares to Lajon
@@Open6music I love sevendust and lajon but there is loads of great metal vocalists, Corey Taylor being one
Not many bands have Lajon.
Band is average at best and this is my all time favorite song.
I agree. Everything new these days sounds so polished that there’s no rawness to the music. Which is what Rock/Metal is supposed to be. I want the artists I listen to, to be able to reproduce what they do in the studio live.
"I had written only the lyrics 'One last song, given to an angel’s son.' That’s all I had. Two lines of a chorus. I had no verses to the song whatsoever. I just didn’t have it in me because I didn’t understand death, or what had happened to my friend. Then we went into the studio one day. I remember seeing some of the guys from Lynn’s band from behind the glass. I was a nervous wreck thinking - I am going to let these guys down because I don’t have anything. I don’t know what to say because I can’t believe this has happened to my friend. I just put it in the lord’s hands and I promise you, that music came on and the first thing that came out was “life is changing.” For whatever reason, I still get the same feeling, even when I just said it, something just comes over me. Then, I didn’t have anything for the second verse and I had the same nervous feeling again. When it came time to sing something over it, once again, the words just came out." - Lajon Witherspoon
JesterNR1 that was Lynn with you! You are amazing
God.
That’s awesome man and powerful.
Man, I've trying to make it in the industry. I've listened to you guys for as long as I've been able to know you. Thank you guys, much, for all the things you do for others 🤘🏻
If this didn't bring at least a tear to your eye you have no soul lol
Alex Dowling Gets me every time.
Odds are no one has a “soul”
Agreed
It's a great song but I've endured so much in my life that I'm not affected by sad songs or any forms of emotional mediums.
Mike Hansen weird flex
Lajon is such a legendary singer. Most people's voices start fading several albums down the road. He sounds exactly the same as he did in the mid 90s when they first came about.
This song is so perfect, it hits on an emotional level for pretty much everyone who listens to it. To all of you who have lost someone, I am sorry, I hope they found peace, and I hope you do too.
Love or hate this kind of music, you have to give credit to these guys. They give 110% every show
Who can hate this anyway?
@@Silvain1 morons
Nobody can hate them lajons voice is pure heaven
OMG Sevendust is too underated , this guys deserved more attemption this song is a master piece
“Underrated” is the NPC comment of the century. You’ll find it in nearly every video of real musicians performing. If everyone is underrated…no one is underrated.
Man this is one of the greatest acoustic performances of all time
we opened up for snot when we were 14 we won the battle of the bands at the showcase theater in corona ca
lynn was telling my bro he kicked ass on drums and people started crowding around, ill never forget i didnt even know who he was, our older band mates went up and smoked a joint with snot, we watched their set and it was UNREAL,
few months later we heard he died, RIP, thank you sevendust for this masterpiece
Thanks so much you guys! RIP My brother Robert 4-18-66~4-25-18 ✌💙
I've loved everything 7Dust has done since I was 17 and now I'm almost 40.
But I've always thought that if I ever got to meet Lajon, he would give the warmest, most comforting hug anyone could ever receive, solely due to his rich, storytelling voice.
I love the bloke.
This band is so fucking good.
good Lord what a voice, what a song. mesmerizing :)
This song makes me tear every time. RIP Kasey. I miss you brother.
Holy shit! Clint is a great singer!!
Chris Smith go look up the cover of Hurt he does. Its really good
Or dark new day.
His solo project Hello Demons Meet Skeletons is beautiful as well, I believe he has four smaller albums under that title.
Yes he is
Caught chills when they hit the last chorus.. Bravo
holy shit..... Lajon has pipes. My Fav rocker...
Best version of this song I can find, seems that "our babies" substitutes "she" in the remainder of the line, "lives through you". I presume this is due to the bands appreciation for the passage of time and the addition of new family members, who will forever help remind us of loved ones who have passed.
Heard that too,, pretty rad
I've watched this about 200 times now. honestlyyyyy
Man this touches me in the feels every single time I hear it. LJ's voice is incredible
My eyes start to water every time I hear this song.
I love you guys so much. LONG LIVE SEVENDUST 🤘💀
The passion in this man's voice, all these years later!! And the rest of the band? Performing Live??? Perfection!
What a power house of singer Mr Weatherspoon is
thatonedudeoverhere Heck yeah he is. I'm astonished that at 42 years old he still sounds so damn good.
If God doesn’t sing like LJ, send me to hell.
That song kicks me in the heart every single time
These guys are just as good live as they were 25-30 years ago. I met Lajon while he was out lingering with the fans at a show. He was literally out there hanging out with us "little people"! He was such an amazing and kind person and my respect went ten fold that day after seeing him do that. Not many rock stars out there will do what he did. And his voice is one of the best in the biz by far. ✌️
I remember when the Strait Up came out. I was lucky enough to have been a kid with an older brother who turned me onto bands like Snot and Deftones in the early days. This song was so awesome when I first heard it. Glad to see it on youtube on a Guitar Center Sessions.
*The Strait Up album*
LJ makes love to that mic. Epic
Wow, so much power and emotion in his voice
"...our babies live through you." ❤
8 years ago and still gives me chills every time. 7D will always be my lifetime long greatest band of all time. They rocked in Chattanooga 2 weeks ago!
Every album this band has released has always been ones you just out in and let it play every song is amazing Lajons voice has only got better. And Clints voice has matured so good over the years. There an amazing band and great group of guys. Keep Rockin SEVENDUST.
I had the privilege of meeting Lynn way way back in the day while Snot was touring with Deftones promoting their album. They blew me away and he was humble enough to sign a wide eyed kids cigarettes box that I still have to this day. He was only here for a short time and was taken too soon but he left his mark on this world and everyone he met!
Amazing performance Sevendust!
Hands down the best version on youtube!!!
Audio & Performance is excellent!!!
Thanx SevenDust & Guitar Center.
tear up every time I hear this. :..)
damn you! for doing such a great job.
Damn... his voice is still unreal!!
RIP Lynn and Dobbs . I’ve lost a lot of friends and grew up listening to snot and sevendust . The beach video makes me cry every time I see his mom and sister and all his friends 😢 I’ll fkn blast snot till the day I die !!!
This is Dale from Headshot. I still listen to your songs. I still listen to this song. We love you and miss you.
OMFG the chill bumps still pop up to this one... RIP Lynn Strait and Dobbs!
Been listening to sevendust for as long as I can remember and somehow I only came across this in the last couple months and have been playing non stop. That last chorus absolutely transcends to another level. Lajon is easily the best vocalist ive ever seen.
NEVER GETS OLD!! Love this song!
Lajon and Howard should do a song together..I might actually be too epic and we could handle it..
king mopar no way we could we handle it.
Life is changing
I can't go on without you
Rearranging, yeah
I will be strong
I'll stand by you
You were fighting everyday
So hard to hide the pain
I know you never said goodbye
I had so much left to say
One last song
Given to an Angel's Son
As soon as you were gone
As soon as you were gone
I have a new life now
She lives through you
What can I do?
Feel so alone now
I pray for you
We still love you
You were fighting everyday
So hard to hide the pain
I know you never said goodbye
I had so much left to say
One last song
Given to an Angel's Son
As soon as you were gone
As soon as you were gone
One last song (I can't believe you're gone )
Given to an Angel's Son (I can't believe)
As soon as you were gone (As soon as you were gone)
As soon as you were gone
Powerful. If that song doesn’t make you feel something I don’t know what would.
@Sevendust is such a great band. Love too. They are severely underrated in my opinion.
why is this video unlisted? the world must see this amazing performance and song!!!!! :-)
Our babies live through you kills me every time. God dam I will miss you so so much brother. You held us toghter know your gone.
One of my all time favorite bands, if not my favorite. I absolutely love Sevendust.

I'm liking this band
Like!!
Dude, best fucking band of all time hands down. Love these dudes.
The reason why I love 7Dust! First song that I ever heard from them and the videos, two versions, were so Epic at the time! 20 years later, I had just lost my childhood friend a week before they came to New Orleans. Best night of my life! They played this song, my friend got to crowd surf to his favorite song, and we were introduced to a no named band at the time, called Nothing More. To top it off, I met LJ and had a drink with him. Most underrated rock band for the past 20 years! Time will tell though, JS.
so powerful and beautiful. i was in high school when the front man of my favorite band passed. this brings me back to those days. its amazing how these people playing music, people i have never met, can influence my life so much. thank you.
I know this is old, but who was it that passed?
Guitarsquatch M.
Lynn Strait from the band Snot. Died in 98
These guys are sooo freeking good! This song is awesome!
Amazing song. Wonderful vocals by both guys.
These dudes are the coolest guys. I was doing Chewbacca noises in a meet and greet line and Vince, Clint and John were laughing and loving it. One of the BEST bands ever, and going to a show is a different animal.
Great Sevendust as always!!!
I saw these guys years ago at a festival in council bluffs, Iowa. It was a sweltering day with high humidity when Sevendust came on. They fucking rocked their set and when they started to play this song, Lajon told us Lynn was watching over us... For that one song, rain sprinkled over the crown on this hot ass day. It was the most awe-inspiring concert moment I've ever had.
That was great!! Very raw/real performance!
Mother fucking LJ is so incredible. This band has never gotten the credit they deserve. Seen them 3 times live and they were always on point. Hail 7D.
LJ is a beyond phenomenal vocalist and i feel like that doesnt get said enough. Holy hell what a voice man.
Man this song always hit home hard. Much respect to Sevendust for this. Lynn Straight R.I.P.
Absolutely amazing.
Geez right in the feels that one. Beautiful
Lajon Witherspoon! The most amazing vocalist in history. SevenDust is amazing. \m/,
all these years later that song still makes it hard to breathe when i listen to it.
Holy shit, this is pure magic, this song takes you to another dimension......
I’ve seen these guys upwards of 75 times. Incredibly underrated. If you know you know. What makes them so great is the family vibe they give. Met them all plenty of times and they are all great dudes. They’ve never been anything but super cool to me. LJ even bought me a beer once at the Machine Shop in Flint MI and we just had a conversation. If you haven’t seen them you are missing out.
I can feel his passion bleeding through his pores. Such a badass song I can listen to it all day! Legendary Back vocals.
I absolutely love this song. I love the sound, the arrangement, the guitars, how powerful his voice is. I can listen to this over an over.
His voice is so powerful. Incredible talent.
How anyone could not love this song is beyond my understanding
??This is what this song does for me??
With every word comes a tear drop
with every note, and blissful melody, I'm renewed by realty
that will turn my hard times of pain!
thank you so much for this song guys, it helped me so much in MY life
I love how much passion they put in every performance of this song...
I, like many here have used this song to get me through a rough time. But remember, this song is a celebration so end with a smile.
This song is still in my weekly rotation. One of my favorite songs, I still karaoke this and jam it on the guitar. I'm 42 this was out when I was 21, I'm 42. Doubled my age and it still hits. 100% version here too, guys.
I’m an old Boomer late to the party but I love this stuff-these guys are REAL… what tuning do you use? Double drop D flat-open C sharp?
Lajon is the FUCKING man. They're all just so killer.
their lead singer could be in a rock opera with a voice like that
If you haven't already, check out Mob Mentality, the song Lajon did with Earthside.
Honestly, it's one of the best things he's done.
Love the rawness of Lajon’s voice. Epic performance
Jesus fucking christ...so amazing live. Sounds better than the album version. That's how you can tell a good band from a mediocre band.
Sevendust NEVER lets you down. I have seen them live many times and it sounds just like this
I saw these guys back in 2001 in Milwaukee, WI. They were opening for Fuel. Talk about an AWESOME show when they were on. Fuel was great, but man, Sevendust set the bar so high that nobody could touch it!
Absolutely love this song, one of my favorites from these guys! Its a pleasure hearing it again!
Favorite Sevendust song and 1 of my all time favs
This is a beautifull emotional song.
Wow, the subtle ambient keyboard strings really make this special! But Lajon just brings it like never before!
What more to say this is fkin great and this is for my brother Pete we miss and love you forever!! Rip bro
Dude has some pipes on him, beautiful stuff
f**k, such a great song, such a great tribute to a sad loss. love this rendition, great energy
ive only just heard this song now and its like one of the best acoustic songs ive heard for ages his voice is soo good
Incredible!!
This song chokes me up every time I listen to it.
Amazing vocals.
I don't care if you've ever heard of this band before. Or even like their genre of music. If this performance doesn't touch you and make you feel something raw and emotional, you are dead inside, period.
One of the best band
This so song is pure power!
How could anyone 'thumbs down' this performance. Sounds EXACTLY like it does on the album...
This SONG and GROUP is SO under-Rated
Love our friends Sevendust!!!
The voice is fucking exquisite
Goosebumps.
Always amazing
i fucking love this band. have since i was 18. turning 44 in a few days.
WOW! BEST IVE EVER HEARD THIS SONG!!!
who the fuck would dislike it ?!!?
