Lena Headey's acting in the scene when she sees the boat arrive with Jaime and Myrcella was superb. She expressed the full range of emotion from joy and anticipation, to uncertainty, to dread, to sadness and depression without saying a single word... only her face and eyes.
What's interesting about The Red Woman is that her visions actually do come true. However her interpretation of what the vision actually means when she sees it is her downfall. She sees a vision, makes a statement about it and never seems to consider possible other outcomes that could still produce the same outcome as her vision. She gets stuck on a specific interpretation and now that some are turning out wrong, her confidence in her abilities and her god are being tested.
Brienne swearing fealty to Sansa was a touching callback to Brienne and Catelyn exchanging those same vows after Renly's death way back in Season 2. "You shall always have a place by my hearth, meat and mead at my table. And I pledge to ask no service of you that might bring you dishonor". The words are the same, but it's a sea of grief that separates the two moments. She is Lady Stark now.
The scene where Sansa and Brienne make their vows to each other makes me cry every single time I see it. It has so much meaning to it for both of them.
The one thing anyone who watches this show can agree on... Ramin Djawadi knows how to write a damn score! Sansa & Theon's escape is a personal favorite!
True. Honestly, the acting, costumes, score and effects are still top notch. Despite how terrible the plot becomes. And also honestly, the first 4 seasons make literally everything worth it. I don’t care how bad it got. Even the last three seasons are at least fun to dunk on.
You're the right person to ask then. Where did the hounds go? Remember? The hounds that Ramsay mentioned literally in the previous scene? We even hear them in the background but when the Boltons catch up, the hounds are nowhere to be seen. Why? But yeah Ramin Djawadi never let us down.
No. That’s cope for bad writing. I’m going to make this spoiler free. Because the other time she took off the stone and grew old, (in season 8) she definitely had not lost her faith lololol.

The Brienne Oathkeeper scene is the best moment of this episode. When Cat set Jaime free, it started the snowball effect of an enraged Karstark killing the Lannister boys and Robb killing him in turn, which ultimately lead to the demise of the Starks. That "Oathbreaker, you're a man without honor" "Kingslayer, what a king he was" scene in S2 with Jaime and Cat was the first time Brienne came face to face with Jaime. This is a full circle moment as she keeps the promise that Jaime had made to Cat in that tent in exchange for his freedom. I guess Cat's reckless Hail Mary, which set in motion the very events that wiped out Robb and herself, ended up paying off after all. There's some poetic irony to it.
Because the non-mutineers are essentially in a state of seige locking themselves inside that room. You can't burn a body inside that cramped room. They fear that if they go outside Alliser's men will execute them. It's not that complicated.
Actually you might be wrong about that. The only logical reason for not burning Snow‘s corpse was the plot. How would they explain to revive some ashes? 😂
Jaime promised everything that's been taken from them they'll take it back and more. That was a compelling scene. Their bond is strengthened by their loss, but unfortunately it also means Jaime being sucked back into the hellworld of King's Landing. He cannot escape his name no matter how hard he tries. That rescue at Winterfell gets me in the feels. It's a twisted and yet beautiful way of doing that callback.
Can't believe we're already in S6!! This journey's been going by like a breeze. So much insane stuff has happened and there's more to come!! Can't wait.
Hey nice to see you back in the saddle for another one! This is one of my favorite seasons. It's many people's favorites. Don't get it twisted...some of the most memorable moments of GoT, and pretty much any show of the last decade, is in this season! I'm excited to see it through your eyes!
The directors made a mistake with the storyline here. Tristane was supposed to be on the ship but he clearly isn't on board when Marcella dies. At the same time we saw the sand snakes stood at the dock watching the ship leave. It doesn't make sense.
Isn't it kind of left-over from a plot that happens in the book but doesn't in the show? (Being cryptic here.) The Sand Snakes being in KL? Maybe they considered keeping that plot in and then changed their minds but not the script. But yes, a silly error.
It could be that Tristane was originally supposed to be on the same ship as Myrcella, but for some reason he had to stay in Dorne for a while longer and then go on a different ship, the assassination happening while it was still close to Dorne.
I think you need to spend some time to make a bonfire for a corpse. You will probably have to go outside the Wall for some wood. So John will just have to lie there for now...
Nym is short for Nymeria. She was named after the warrior queen who came to Dorne from Essos. There was a history and lore video about her. Arya also named her wolf after her.
The season 6 trailer opens at the Night's Watch with a solemn music playing and a grieving Mellisandre saying "The great victory I saw in the flames, all of it was a lie." She had said she's seen Stannis fighting at Winterfell. She had said she's seen herself walking the battlements of Winterfell. She never said it was the same vision. Wicked games indeed.
Another OMG ending. It's going to be a big season! I wish you good fortune on the episodes to come. Warm regards from the Netherlands, or land of Melisandre (and Daario Naharis)
People concern troll about that Trystan scene, but it's actually pretty simple. The letter written to Doran Martel has a couple of misspellings. Which confirms it was written by Jaime, as Tywin passingly told Arya in season two about Jaime's struggles with reading & writing, which sounded awfully like dyslexia. If you zoom in, the letter says "Your son cannot stay. I'm sending him back". So there it is. The Sand Snakes didn't magically teleport to the ship on its way to Kings Landing. Trystane was sent back by Jaime and was intercepted and killed on his way back. There's no plothole there at all. Someone once asked in bad faith "how did Elaria manage to organzie a coup in 30 mins" as if she wasn't plotting until the letter came in. People who had no issues with how the Night's Watch literally fished out a valerian dagger buried underground have a lot of issues with Jorah finding the earring in an open spot marked by the circling of horse hooves.
to question: "why are they not burning Jon?".... the burning is a ceremony. They need to prepare the wood. Alliser wants to capture everybody that is with Jon's body right now. Also, there is no urgency on burning a body. It has to be done soon enough. great reaction from Calypso. Her lust for blood on certain moments is hilarious :) The Red Woman was all wrong about Stannis. That's causing her to doubt what her purpose is.
I presume by the play Gwendoline Christie was in, you mean 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at the Bridge Theatre. I went, back in 2019, loved it so much that I went again a few weeks later. The first time was slightly disrupted about ten minutes in, when there was a power failure in the whole Tower Bridge area and we sat in the dark in an increasingly warm theatre, waiting for the lights to come back on! It was great fun, very imaginatively staged, and Gwendoline was great in a dual role. I've also seen: Conleth Hill (Varys) at the National Theatre Julian Glover (Pycelle) in a Tennessee Williams play Ciaran Hinds (Mance) at the National Tara Fitzgerald (Stannis's wife) in Hamlet at the Young Vic Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) twice Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand) twice (most recently with . . . ) Emilia Clarke (Dany) and lastly Kit Harrington (Jon Snow, RIP) twice One, I'm lucky to live near London Two, the remaining cast members have issued an injunction so I'm having to go in disguise.
At 9:05 what is fun, is they did the Sansa and Theon escape in +80 (F) +27 (C) temps, used lots of paraffin wax for the ice, fake snow and a wee bit of CGI.
HEY Calypso, great reaction. In the episode 2x1 when the old man gives the Red Waoman poisoned wine to drink, you see her necklace light up as she drinks it. It's easily missed but, it's there. =)
The 'zombies' created by the White Walkers are called 'wights' (sounds like 'whites'). Not sure if it's ever stated within the show, but that's the universal term for them. Jon Snow's death is in the books, so they had to do it, but that's as far as the book have got (GRRM's a notoriously slow writer), so everything that happens after this is a choice of the showrunners and scriptwriters.
To me GoT died along Tywin. But i can see why people would like the next two seasons as well. They had some really good moments as well. It didn't get horrible until the end.
@@MidWitPride No spoilers: I think season 7 could be great if they made it more messy. Maybe killed more main characters and filmed ending in a more chaotic way. And season 8 could be great if they spent some more time for characters development. I heard that HBO offered directors to make one more season, but they denied this offer because they wanted to end this show and switch to filming some Star Wars movie, which then never happened. If they stretched last 2 seasons to 3 it would be a whole different ending. Such a shame...
What’s interesting about the final scene with Melisandre, if you rewatch the 4th season episode where bathing Mel and Selyse, Stannis’s wife, had a scene, Mel isn’t wearing it in the tub, likely a continuity error on the production staff.
I disagree. I think Selyse did see her true form in that tub. She averts her eyes when she walks in. We are led to believe it's just because Milisandra is naked. I believe Selyse saw the old woman and was such a believer that she just chalked it up to the power of the Lord of Light. Their whole conversation was about how much of magical feats were illusions that lead people to the truth.
Ah, my favorite season. You should listen to what the red witch has to say. Ring the bell for Theon because he's worthy of it😀. Great review! Melisandre is 100 years old.
I have to ask why? And I’m honestly asking. I’m not judging. Is it because of episode 9 and 10? Those episodes are great, but the rest of the season is really boring. Kings Landing literally goes nowhere until the last episode, plot lines are starting to be dropped like hot rocks, Braavos is confusing a dumb, and CLEARLY the writers don’t know what the frick to do with Bran outside of The Door. Jaimie and Brienne’s “quests” are literally pointless. And Meereen is so stupid it hurts.
Enjoying your reactions very much. The last scene in this episode confuses me. It does make sense that her youth and power comes from the necklace but in a previous episode I remember that she is bathing without the necklace on and she is not looking ancient. Does anyone else remember that?
It took a few years of rewatching to formulate my theory on this and I can’t fully explain w/o spoilers but I think since she’s losing faith or feels like her connection w/ the lord of light is weak, she takes off the necklace expecting to continue to age and die in that bed overnight- like she believes the lord of light is done with her and his power + her faith is what gave her necklace (and her “youth spell”) power to remain a seductress.
So this is the point where the book and the show diverge. The producers were just having to guess where the story would go from here. Book 6 is rumored to be released only this year. George R. R. Martin has taken a looong time to release it. To give him some credit though it's a work of art. Melisandre intrigues me in this episode though as she is revealed to be a crone - which is one of the new gods representing knowledge and wisdom. And she has magic, and visions, etc. She may make some bad choices but she is the real deal. She is also the sworn enemy of the Great Other who when you read up on him sounds an awful lot like the Night King.
All of Melisadra's visions have come true, but since she was wrong about Stanis she's doubting herself and how she's interpreted the things she claims the Lord of Light showed her. She believes she's done all these things (some of them pretty damn horrible) in service of a greater good, and now doubt has been cast upon that, so she's questioning herself.
Melisandre, the Red Woman, is reckoned to be about 400 years old. What we're shown here is how she looks and feels when all her glamour and armour is removed. She is a very old and tired woman. Brienne is the one true knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Even in the books where keeping her vows is more difficult, she still does her duty. At the very end though, she's caught in a dilemma which should be resolved, one way or the other, if TWOW ever comes out. I still can't believe how bad the Dorne storyline in the show is. This was a piss poor effort by the showrunners.
Why does everyone always want to burn the dead bodies ? This isn't 'The Walking Dead" ...the dead don't automatically come back. They have to be brought back by The Night King or one of his Captains.
Remember the Red Priest telling Arya that he had lost his faith and become a drunk until his friend was killed. Humbling and lost of faith seems to be her path now.
Ah yes... The scene with Sansa and Theon fleeing Winterfell was the moment I knew GOT was different now. The hounds that have been pursuing them are suddenly gone without a trace and Brienne and Pod arrive precisely when the plot needs them there. What wonderful timing. But then we have the cliche slowly advancing bad guy with the stupid evil grin on his face being stabbed from behind before he can strike the killing blow. What wonderful timing. Where have we seen this before???
Witches at least in most mythology and fantasy litetature out there can live for hundreds of years with use of magic. Or even, eternally. Its common enough at least. I don't know the exact age of Melisandre, but it could indeed be a huge number.
Interesting tidbit about the series from here on out, IC… First, some context. The five books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series roughly follow the first five seasons on HBO, the fifth book being published in 2011, when GoT had already premiered. When David Benioff and Dan Weiss, GoT creators for HBO, asked GRRM what happens after the fifth book, GRRM simply answered that he didn’t know. Thus, it forced HBO to write with no canon. GRRM said that he told the two creators three scenarios that will happen post-5th book (A Dance of Dragons) in the show. The first, we’ve seen already: Shireen’s death. The other two haven’t happened yet for you. I’ll comment after they happen.
Melisandre actually looks pretty good for a woman of her modest age.... 404 years old! Most people that old are a bit more... dusty? Davos had intended to show that treachery of the stabbing to the men of the knight's watch, not knowing what was playing out, but waited too long. He ended up getting stuck in the room. Since they can't burn a body indoors, they had to hope he didn't turn, and kept him indoors. Otherwise, they risked his body being desicrated, or worse, being killed themselves as supporters of Snow who could report the treachery to the folks in the 7 Kingdoms. Killing a Lord Commander fo the Knight's Watch would be cause for the King (or Queen) to march north and dispense justice (i.e. kill the treacherous traitors)! That is why they could not let Davos leave, or anyone else in the room with Snow. And, of course, you are right about the wildlings... As for the oath, Jon is the "sheild that guards the realm of men." For Jon, the wildlings are men too. For someone biggoted like Craster, who thinks of wildlings as on the same level as animals, the oath means defending "civilised people" from the wildlings. With Melisandre: without her faith, she is powerless. The necklace is not the source of her power. Yes, she took it off in this episode and appeared old, but she also took it off in season 4 when she was bathing and Selyse walked in to speak to her, and still appeared young. Taking off the necklace was but a symbol, just like the light fading from the gem... "Remove your trappings of power and humble yourself." She finally realizes that she does not hold power. It is gifted from the Lord of Light. That is what Ser Thoros of Myr said when she asked him about something related to Beric Donderrian. "I have no power." (S3E6) Septa Unella is 5'11" while Brienne of Tarth 6'3'.
Jon chapters in the books end whit his death from here is D&D brain 😱😂 Only George RR Martin now i hope Gods give him very long life for Winds of Winter 😂
That water in the river... goddamn it must be cold AF. In real life, they would have died or at least lost all their toes. Guarantee. Anyone who hasnt experienced real cold doesnt understand how freaking insane crossing a river in the middle of winter is. In the books, Brienne and Podrick would already be dead, killed by zombie mother stark.
Melisandre is in a bad place right now, but next episode her hopes might come back. Or will they!? @Jon never thought he's gonna be killed 4 it... Sir Allistair: Surprize, you mouthy little twat!! Jon: Oh, fck! You got me! I should've seen that coming!
Mellisandre is loosing her FAITH, her faith in the L.O.L is what gives her her powers. The Ruby provides a glamor , there is 2 trains of thoughts on this scene and the one with Seyleese seeing her without the Ruby: 1. Mel is losing faith and the ruby won't hide her true self, Her misreading of the flames makes her less confident in herself and her god. While her faith is high the ruby doesn't need to be worn, just close by. 2. Continuity error. Mel is 300-400 YO; they used an actual aged actress, added some latex prosthetics and CGI Carice face on the body.
What do Christians say? God's ways are unfathomable. Maybe the Lord of Light is no different? In the end, everything will be fine and if it's not fine, it's not the end. Maybe everything is one big plan and everything that everyone in GOT has done so far serves something. That would include Melisandre. She don't have to be aware of that either, if that were the case.
It's funny that you have the same "bare teeth and grunt loudly" reaction to both terrible things (Arya getting her arse kicked) and really good things (Brienne kicking Bolten men's arses). The necklace with the red gem is a type of glamour, which is a spell which gives her the appearance of youth and beauty. There is a seeming continuity problem in an earlier season when she is bathing and not wearing the necklace, but she still is being played by youthful Clarisse van Houten. It's likely that we are still seeing her that way so as to not spoil the later surprise, but that Stannis' wife sees her as the true ancient version of herself. It's also possible that the glamour works even if only nearby if Mel has full faith in the Lord of Light. That her faith is faltering after so many setbacks at failed interpretation of visions, that merely taking it off removes the effect.
Or events she saw in her vision haven't come to pass yet. Don't try read too much into what you think is going to happen because you'll be disappointed. Arya lost her sight because she took a life not meant for her to take, so it's a punishment of sorts.
People are unfair to Alliser Thorne. He spent his life fighting the wildlings who only a few episodes ago were butchering and cannibalizing villages of unarmed civilians and slaughtering whores. He saw his brothers die at their hands only for Jon to lead them straight under the wall into the lands the nights watch are sworn to protect. The same lands they burned and pillaged. Similar to Stannis he's not exactly bursting with personality but he has a sense of honour and duty. His decision to murder Jon wasn't right but it was rational. It's not a good vs evil story.
While the show did simplify some plot lines fairly eloquently, I feel they should have stuck to the books on WHY Jon was betrayed. In the books Ramsay’s letter comes earlier and Jon, having set literally everything aside (and watching his family die) for the watch, decides to take the wildling army and his brothers to take Winterfell. This is an ABSOLUTE no-no. And is looked upon waaaaay worse than letting Wildlings in.
that last scene, it's like melisandre lost her faith. all those years she thought she was doing the right things and it all lead to nothing. she's probably 300-500 years old and she served the red god mostly all her life. now she's alone, at the edge of the world, pure failure. she was accepting death
@ 7:30 to answer your question, it's not done in show, but in book it's stated that the cold preserves, they put some dead wights in cells where they stayed dead and were preserved as a test. Like a modern freezer and life COLD Preserves and fire destroys ( though both can do each ). Also not in show Jon's last word was GHOST.....Jon and his siblings are all Wargs.
Season 6 is right up there with the first season for me. So many twists and turns enjoy. Arya's blindness is part of her training remember faceless men are stealth asines wo sight other senses are heightened. 😉
Lena Headey's acting in the scene when she sees the boat arrive with Jaime and Myrcella was superb. She expressed the full range of emotion from joy and anticipation, to uncertainty, to dread, to sadness and depression without saying a single word... only her face and eyes.
I swear man, even i felt the same about that scene. she is a goddess of acting and showing emotions !

Because the other time she took off the stone and grew old, (in season 8) she definitely had not lost her faith lololol.
The necklace def gives her that power.
She was questioning her faith. She believed what she was interpreting was correct. After shereen, she is now questioning all of it..

Jon Snow's death is in the books, so they had to do it, but that's as far as the book have got (GRRM's a notoriously slow writer), so everything that happens after this is a choice of the showrunners and scriptwriters.
Yes, but GRRM absolutely gave input for the main plot points
Season 6 is my favorite season of the entire show... you will break your 🔔
That’d be kinda awesome.
Too bad it's the last good season. Season 7 is a fan service, season 8 is a speed run. ☹
@@heavylog1c lololol HBO offered 13 seasons.
Dumb and dumber turned them down.
5:29 Chills to the bone
As Lord of Light said: "Hey bruh. You don't need proof bruh. Because you have faith, because people with faith are my peeps yo."
The Lord of Light sounds gangsta! 😆💚😉
What’s interesting about the final scene with Melisandre, if you rewatch the 4th season episode where bathing Mel and Selyse, Stannis’s wife, had a scene, Mel isn’t wearing it in the tub, likely a continuity error on the production staff.
No error, it's not just the stone that gives power, it's her faith.
@@nastee10 I believed it was because she was oggling to see what Stannis had fallen for.
18:20 NO IT DOESN’T
It’s old Ghiscari. There was LITERALLY an entire scene in season 3 explaining where Mhysa comes from. 🤪
Remember the Red Woman is maybe like hundreds of years old. I think the stones preserves her look, until her time is up.
18:19 Mhysa means mother in Ghiscari. Muña means mother in Valyrian.
18:47 See this guy gets it!
The Lady of Winterfell has her sworn sword once more.
Enjoying your reactions very much. The last scene in this episode confuses me. It does make sense that her youth and power comes from the necklace but in a previous episode I remember that she is bathing without the necklace on and she is not looking ancient. Does anyone else remember that?
It took a few years of rewatching to formulate my theory on this and I can’t fully explain w/o spoilers but I think since she’s losing faith or feels like her connection w/ the lord of light is weak, she takes off the necklace expecting to continue to age and die in that bed overnight- like she believes the lord of light is done with her and his power + her faith is what gave her necklace (and her “youth spell”) power to remain a seductress.
its a simple explanation. plot hole. happens in every show
So this is the point where the book and the show diverge. She is also the sworn enemy of the Great Other who when you read up on him sounds an awful lot like the Night King.
my fave season.
Hi, i love your reacts of GOT...About John Snow, they cant perform a Burn ceremony inside doors.
The water is too cold 😫Sansa just kills me some times
Witches at least in most mythology and fantasy litetature out there can live for hundreds of years with use of magic. Or even, eternally. Its common enough at least. I don't know the exact age of Melisandre, but it could indeed be a huge number.
this is last season after season 4 which is my fav
Brienne's quest would not have felt as sweet if she had suceeded at the end of S4. It's the roads traveled.
Enjoy the longest season ❤❤👍👍
Where would they burn Jon if they can't go out?
great reaction
Were they supposed to burn his body in the hut? they are trapped in the hut and dont have the time to do a proper burning ceremony for their friend.
Would u react to hotd after got is completely done or u would do it simultaneously when it airs very curios to know😁😁
Interesting tidbit about the series from here on out, IC…
First, some context.
Love your GOT videos. I wish u could upload one every day 😉
She pretty much does 😉
@ 4:20 What does the blood stain over Jon's left shoulder and elbow look like to you.??????
imo season 6 is the best season
Bruhhh the image of mellisandre was burned into my system when i first saw it 🤣🤣. Here I was thirsti g for some 300 year old witch 😆
Well, 1st they can't leave that room. They maybe could but Thorne and the nights watch are now enemies of the men in that room. Who do they trust. .
Best season of the show to me the finale is the best episode of the show
Jon chapters in the books end whit his death from here is D&D brain 😱😂 Only George RR Martin now i hope Gods give him very long life for Winds of Winter 😂
This was the beginning of the show runners/writers really screwing things up with the story line, not explaining who some people are or why
I too hope u saw the teasers and trailers for hotd, though I know u said u want, anyways waiting for ur hotd reactions
Learning to fight blind would probably be a pretty good skill to have, don't you think? You should really check out Daredevil if you already haven't.
Not quite….
Or maybe the Lord of Light is trying to guide her towards another person who needs his power???
She saw a great Battle in the Snow, maybe it's her interpretation that's off not the faith
You have a big secret to learn....I won't spoil....but I'm so looking forward to when you find out
Mellisandre is loosing her FAITH, her faith in the L.O.L is what gives her her powers. The Ruby provides a glamor , there is 2 trains of thoughts on this scene and the one with Seyleese seeing her without the Ruby:
I always figured the ruby to be like a wizards wand. It isn't the source of her power, but it helps her focus and direct it.
You look like a Black Rose today 🖤
Melisandra is like 400 years old
Theres only 3 good lannisters. Thomen, Tyrion and Marcilla.
Is it just me or does this show make people more bloodthirsty lol
Yes; it’s a slow simmer and before we know it- BAM! We want everyone to kill each other 😝
that last scene, it's like melisandre lost her faith. all those years she thought she was doing the right things and it all lead to nothing. she's probably 300-500 years old and she served the red god mostly all her life. now she's alone, at the edge of the world, pure failure. she was accepting death
So good your feelings, i just love you
Short episode 😱 episode 2 tomorrow? 🙏
That scene with Melisandre’s necklace inspired this HILARIOUS Mother’s Day skit on Jimmy Kimmel! 😂

She doesn’t need to react to it… just watch 👌🏼
@@AmericanMumReacts Was not asking for a reaction video. Just wanted to let her know about it
@@redviper6805 Gotcha... i looked and it was like a minute long 🤣 I watched it myself, thanks!💚
@@AmericanMumReacts You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. I reckon you'll be reacting to House of the Dragon?
It's feels empty without Jon, eh 😉
When I first watched this I thought the next episode would begin with Mel dead in bed, like she gave up, and that would mean no miracles
