- Co-founder of Black Lives Matter, Alicia Garza, left the organization in 2017. Why? It had a lot to do with the political climate of the US and wanting to pivot into civil engagement, which she see's as the key to getting black people more than just a seat at the table. Alicia shares why her path changed, her current work with Black Futures Lab and the sometimes scary impact that activism has had on her life and day-to-day safety. Plus, does Alicia have any political aspirations of her own? Jemele is getting some answers about any hopes of being in political office.

I left a long time ago because a self-proclaimed socialist Marxist did not redistribute her funds to the black community
Did you distribute your funds to anyone. That works both ways. It was not her funds and much of those funds went to Ferguson MO where ALL BLM organizers have been mysteriously murdered. Many people who were injured by the police in marches got help with their medical bills, bail bonds, rent during the pandemic, lawyer fees. Everything was cool until some white journalist posted pictures of Patrisse Coullors property. Now you all are all up tight and right where they want you to be so they can finish us all off. Don't be running up to my house for help since you failed to prepare and are helping them divide us over crumbs.

This is the only thing that makes me against reparations, because we will kill ourselves even more over the crumbs tossed at us and end up in a much worse situation than before. As a Mexican who supports trump not BLM inc ...I support black own business . I have gotten multiple death threats and a lot of them have came from people who support BLM Inc not actual black lives people who actually support black lives are helping black business owners communities that's why I support enough those are the people who have never ever gone after me but the people who support BLM Inc have send me multiple death threats every single day I am a mother of three I completely understand how scariest that's why I encourage everyone to own a gun owning a gun is a women's right owning a gun is a black rights wanting a gun is Mexican rights owning a gun is American right. Trying to defend the police hasn't done anything good for the community as a matter of fact another having to hire even more police with the limited resources and training and that's going to eventually lead to more tragedies we need cops to be well trained.
