  • "Cubing is dying"... seems to be a growing idea in the cubing community. Today, I'll talk about why this(probably) ISN'T true.

This channel is the only reason I use youtube.....These videos just keep on getting better and better, Nice work Tsukasa. You definitely deserve 1 Million Subs. I am 100% sure that this is one of the best cubing channels on youtube, this is probably the first channel that goes in depth about cubing and you do a lot of research before publishing a video, its always exciting to see a new TriCubing Video - Rishi D

the points in this video are really valid, congrats
like you said, they are so many other youcubers now so it's not valid to say that content about it is dying
like your channel and that stcube guy is doing really well, and hesacuber is really underrated with his storytelling & editing

This was a great video, I think you covered this topic really well. We all just need to move on, things are going to be different in the future from what they were in the past, the stats you showed prove that cubing is growing more than it ever has and we just need to make the most of it right now

I learned how to cube in 2016 but I never took it serious and eventually put the hobby away. Fast forward to late 2022 when I had to have surgery and was off work for about a month. To pass the time I pulled the old cubes out again and it was the best decision ever. In the last 1 1/3 years I've been having a blast. I know I will never be able to get the world record in any event but setting a goal and improving to work towards it is enough for me. I'm about 1 second away from my goal of sub 20 ao5 and 1/2 second from sub 15 single. That's where the fun is.
If you do get tired of cubing consider looking at other events. SQ1 looks intimidating but honestly that was the most fun event to learn. Clock is also great. Learning 7 simal was a struggle but now I'm about 1/2 second away from possibly getting state record. I've really enjoyed learning every event and it really helps keep things fresh and interesting.

Very well said! It’s a total misconception that cubing is dying. There are more and more people discovering the cubing community every year and it’s great to see! Twistypuzzles in general have so many avenues beyond simply competing and thats not going away anytime soon.
Even if some big channels stop uploading.. Or disappear 👀

Thank you so much for making this video, I really wanted this topic to be made, as UK Cubers videos really made cubing shown in a bad way. Your packaging, and the way you talk about topics is phenomenal, super entertaining. Your videos are out of this world, and you have grown an insane amount, from the time I first found you channel. Congrats, and thank you for making this video!

cool video, i didnt know people think cubing is dying.i am kinda new to this hobby, ive known how to solve the cube for 10+ years, but thanks to my local CzechoSlovak speedcubing comunity i really got into this hobby a year ago, ive see a few NRs get broken and i made many new friends and i love training and breaking my own pbs and prs. i cannot imagine this hobby dying when all i see is this hobby growing. when i go to a competition and help out there, i see many kids that are around 10 years old with their parents and they are all having a good time and cheering them and supporting them.
P.S. i forgot where i was going with this message

I am a WCA delegate in brazil, with over 10 years of competitions and cubing experience.
Most of the changes talked during the video were changes that i saw in the sport and scenario since the introduction of the Dayan Guhong back in 2010 and the ascension of Feliks, which dominated almost every cubing category in WCA for almost 5 years.
I see that cubing is growing faster and faster, and getting stronger and even more durable. The speedcubing is now a sport, with movements around the world to be recognized as one, I think cubing is here for stay, and the next step is to see speedcubing as an sport, with its own legends and stories.
We might be reaching the edge of the world records, but still, we hadn't any three times world champion in the WCA. I see the sport getting even more competitive, recieving more and more competitiors, if that means a dying community, well... maybe during the type A cubes were the time this community were alive the most.

    Absolutely love this video
I watched the UK Cuber videos about why cubing is dying, and I noticed he had a huge problem with his video, making assumptions that had no evidence to back it up. Like he was talking about the tv3 being the last revolutionary cube and how it did crazy well in sales and no cube afterwards has been able to compare. And he didn't have any metrics to back it up, just a pure assumption. Even when he talked about youcubing and how youcubers stopped uploading, because they're not uploading no one will watch their content. But I looked up statistics, and still found those channels to be growing quite quickly.
One month ago (Right after UK Cuber uploaded the second video), I looked up these stats:
SoupTimmy: gained almost 2 million subs in 1 year (double his sub count)
Jperm: ~250k subs in 1 year, over 100 mil views in 1 year
Arisandra Soo: gained ~225k subs in 1 month (originally had ~25k)
Cubehead: gained: gained ~400 k subs in 1 year with ~ 225 million views in 1 year
Tingman: gained ~200k subs in 1 year, with ~ 130 million views in 1 year
cuberzn: ~100k subs in 1 year, 46 million views in 1 year (more than double his views from before)
cuberzn short: ~197k subs in 1 year, 111 mils in 1 year
TheCubicle: steady 50k growth in 1 year, 20 mil views in 1 year
(Used social blade + math for stats)
And he was like but most of these channels don't upload anymore, these new subs will be disappointed by lack of new content. He doesn't realize to any new sub, every video can be considered "new content" as they've never seen the video before.
Overall, I think this video was a good video. Especially love how you mention to not harass UKCuber or anyone who believes cubing is dying. Absolutely agree, it wouldn't do any good.

Someone thinks cubing is dying? Hi, I just got my first cube for Christmas. I have picked up three more, technically four. I'm at the stage I could start learning OLL/PLL algs, but I'm taking my time with that because I think mastering fingertricks is a better use of my time. That alone is cutting my times by 30s. I don't expect to be a competitive solver, but I have gotten MANY hours of enjoyment out of it, and I expect I'll have many more.
