The almost pro people are still in the path of perfecting their “basic” technique. When you are at the very top for example Ma Long, one of the training are to kill any ball as long as they aren’t fall in the table with discourage rally. Even Xu Xin didn’t master it at the start of his career, he would push semi long backspin ball and Liu corrected that mistake. The other that you see is not to telegraph their move, act like you want to push and change at the last milisecond for example. Also this is what I learn from Adam vs pro video, that Adam can block pro shot almost as good as semi pro, as in he can get to the ball, but against pro only 1/3 of the ball he blocked return to the table. Ma Long, Wang Liqin etc kept talking about this, they have many shots that looks almost the same but have different spin in it. You got to have that kind of shot at the very top to discourage safe play from your opponent.
I've noticed that too. Longer rallies and easier to follow the dynamics of great non-pros. The pros just hit the ball with a higher amount of speed, but that small speed difference edges balls into unreturnable territory just because of the human limits of reaction timing. It's like a 90mph being trackable but 100 mph fastball not being trackable for hitters in baseball. Difference of miliseconds or fractions of miliseconds.
Wow! I never realized just how good you are. I can only dream of playing like that. Many thanks for a truly amazing video, and your analytical commentary was fantastic, and then you told us about the blades and rubbers you use in the match and why you changed them. Needless to say i really enjoyed it. Many thanks again.
OMG!!! These rallies are INSANE, genuinely BREATHTAKING! I realized I had been holding my breath almost the entire time. I can't even begin to describe just how much I enjoyed this match. Thanks, Seth. Thanks, Senura.
Another top class video from the best TT channel out there! Thank you for remembering to add the rebound board footage. It's so helpful to see how you practice your backhand with it since I was having trouble figuring out useful exercises. Also, I actually bought the same exact rebound board from Amazon in the summer!
Hi Seth - Great video as always. I've really become a fan of your match analysis as I find it very helpful with my game. Also - a guy named Phil came into the table tennis club I recently opened in Portsmouth NH (Seacoast Table Tennis). We got to talking about things we try to do to try to get better, at pong and I mentioned that I watch your channel. He laughed and said that he was a childhood friend of yours and that you used to play pong together when you were kids. Small world. That said, IF you are ever in the Boston area and IF you wanted to reconnect with your childhod buddy, you could always come to my club and do a demo :).
Thank you! thats so funny how small the table tennis world is! Yeah Phil and I know each other well great guy! thank you for the invite I will come if I am in the area!
Please could you make a video about how you forehand pivot against heavy side spin serves (both natural and non-natural forehand angle) as you used it to a great effect in this video?
Crazy good match. The opponent was on a big comeback. Congrats on the win. I find with my bounce board, as a practice goes on, I keep moving the board further from the table and closing the angle. By the end I'm almost a pro 😂. It is a fantastic tool.
Yes the return board is really really a powerful tool! It fixed my backhand in only a few hours of practice and one of my students also gained massive confidence after practicing with it for a few hours
Great match and fascinating analysis. Need to incorpate this thinking into my matches. In 11-point sets sometimes it's hard to understand the opponent's game and adjust before the 2nd or 3rd set for me.
Yeah! I agree it can be very difficult and the focal points are always changing certain things make the difference between winning and losing. its about finding the things that will make you win and focusing on them! thanks for the compliments
Wow you have really improved Seth! You have gone from being a good player to a really good player ! Thanks for the info on the return board. We have one day my club but I’ve never really known how to use it properly. Thanks again.
Great match and great session! I would really appreciate some thoughts on match flow sometimes. Like for example the last set you were 9:3 up and it somehow ended in deuce points. It would be interesting (for me at least) to hear your thoughts on such situations (flow changes)..
Hey thanks! Yeah flow changes are a real thing very psychological. Brad Gilbert talked about it in his book “Winning Ugly” he says it’s very common for players to not be able to push leads only a few players can do this consistently. For me the main thing I was trying to do was to stay positive and keep thinking and just mentally hold on!! Haha
Hey, Seth my man, I love your videos and they really helped me improve. Can you do a tutorial video on how to serve your backhand underpin and other variations and also talk about the tactics when using it in real matches? I'm a backhand player that mostly serves backhand and tomahawk for my forehand.
Thats a great video Idea! I should do a tutorial on all my serves and break down how I learned them and how I use them in games and what opponents do with them
One of the most entertaining matches I've ever seen, at any level. Would the return board work with other types of rubbers besides inverted? I use short pips on my backhand, and am wondering it would work for me.

I just buy a rebound broad from Amazon. I saw it on a Chinese table tennis channel. I alway wonder if it is a fake. After I see you practice on it, I decide to purchase one . Again a great play! Thank you. I have seen several high leveled matches. No critisism, but I wonder why you most of time start playing diagonal (with backhand) in stead of regulary changing directions?
If I want to change down the line I must place the ball very wide as well as with some pace which is something Im not 100% comfortable with against this level if I don’t then they will get a free strong forehand, if I play decent diagonal then I don’t have to worry about them finishing the point so it’s more of a safe move on both our parts that levels the playing field for both players

You were 9-3 and later 10-7 up. You should have closed out the match. When you are that much up, one mistake on your opponents's part will end the match, hence they will try to be as safe as possible. You have to just wait for your chance.
Yes your right! Mentally I was really trying to stay calm and consistent but for some reason I kept missing I tried to refocus every single point and stay positive.
When I made the template for the scoreboard I made each on individually I place the into each point individually I needed a generic name I could give to everyone it’s over 100 different score combinations I wanted to spend the time and make it once. I don’t mean it to be mean but trying to be efficient to present a scoreboard for the viewers of the channel
This was an amazing match. I can see you are really good at keeping you weight in the middle even when moving left and right during rallies hence the fast movement. One tip you could like in backhand straight shot. You can use Harimoto backhand straight which adds left side spin to straight ball making it harder to catch. ua-cam.com/video/7gib3so6FtU/v-deo.html

@@PechPongTT
Im waiting for the vdo with impatience.

with a carbon wood.
pls cover those detail in the vdo.

@@LEROIDUTENNISDETABLE I would go with Tenergy 05 on forehand tenergy 64 2.0mm sponge on backhand maybe go with Viscaria blade that would be a great setup
Great game!
Nice one 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Thank you very much!
Hi one questions who is better for u Viscaria or actualy tibhar? Btw nice videos concept 🙏👌🏓
at first when I tried to use the Tibhar I dislike the feeling but when I play matches I kept on winning and started to feel that the blade was good for me now I feel that the tibhar blade is better for my game if I want to win more :)
I like your playstyle❤
Thanks! I try my best
Seth what Robot would you recommend for an intermediate player. Also any reliable supplier. Maybe you could do a video on different Robots.
I will be making a video on robots and how to practice on them as well as different ones you can buy, I personally use the powerpong robot as it has the ability to do so many really awesome drills that fill in the gaps of my practice. If you would like I can give you a discount code for it as I have teamed up with the owner.
@@PechPongTT yes pls
@@PechPongTT and the links to their website as well

Use the code “Seth” to receive 5% off any robot
If you have the money I would highly recommend the high end model the app makes it really simple to design drills and if you end up getting it I can help with ideas as well as any questions you have about it.
Now that's a post-match handshake.
haha we are good friends its fun to want to kill each other and then shake after :)
Great game Seth,
Thank you! :)
wow it is really amazing.
Thank you very much!
what a nice match
It was a good one!
Very good
Thank you!
8:02 that shot, haha
Return board is more realistic than machine. Cost is cheap as well
this is also True I like to use both but the return board does something the robot cannot
Have you ever had a game with Adam bobrow? And if not why not
I have played him a few years ago before I started doing UA-cam videos we go back when I was young my brother and I met him at the US open. Great guy love what he is doing for the sport!

You're welcome XD
HAHAHA nice moment!
Are you sponsored by tibhar now?
No paddle palace, I can play with any equipment Donic stiga Tibhar etc
You were 9-3 and later 10-7 up.
You should have closed out the match.
When you are that much up, one mistake on your opponents's part will end the match, hence they will try to be as safe as possible.
You have to just wait for your chance.
Yes your right! Mentally I was really trying to stay calm and consistent but for some reason I kept missing I tried to refocus every single point and stay positive.
u fuking play good men, oooaaaauuuu.
Thanks 🙏
Referring to Silva as (Opponent) I think is not that appropriate
When I made the template for the scoreboard I made each on individually I place the into each point individually I needed a generic name I could give to everyone it’s over 100 different score combinations I wanted to spend the time and make it once. I don’t mean it to be mean but trying to be efficient to present a scoreboard for the viewers of the channel
This was an amazing match.
I can see you are really good at keeping you weight in the middle even when moving left and right during rallies hence the fast movement.
One tip you could like in backhand straight shot.
You can use Harimoto backhand straight which adds left side spin to straight ball making it harder to catch.

Thank you for the compliment and the idea to improve upon my backhand. That is a shot I have started to think about including in my game!
