Replacing completely worn ball joints on a Acura RSX

  • Working on my brother Daniel's, 2002 Acura RSX. One day he said the car was making a lot of noise. Upon inspection found out the ball joints were completely worn out. So I stepped in as the bigger brother to replace them lol. Make sure to check your suspension components, especially on older cars with high mileage!!

I hear you lol. I used the oem jack from my CRV, its a bit bigger than the rsx one. But still dangerous lol. When I did go down there though, I didn't lay directly under the spindle or anything just incase. I then added a proper jack once the bro showed up 😅

You`ve been very lucky with that lower-ball joint. Could pop, and break the wheel apart. You don`t want that on a highway.

Hey man thanks for the informative video. Much more detail than other videos I've looked up!
Do to my work schedule & trying to work outside in my hot ass Arizona driveway I got a quote from a shop. (Really nice guys but I hate taking my car to shops.) They wanted $1600 to install my parts. Coilovers. K-tuned front LCA's, slotted rotors, stainless lines, pads & ball-joints. $3500 to that plus install a new rack & pinion.
Its a fun daily I'd hate to sell it & after watching this I might just have to take some time off work to get my RSX in shape.
      Thanks!

Thanks man! I appreciate that! Just trying to help out with what I know. Yeah I have a lot of fun with my RSX, great car. Oh dang that's a lot of money to give someone to do the work you yourself could do. But I do understand having a busy schedule. I myself work 6 days a week and have a family. I would say maybe do bit by bit. Doesn't have to be done all in the same day. Save yourself the money. I also don't like taking my car to a shop. I've always done my own work.

Using this particular MOOG ball joint, did you find there was actually enough clearance below the CV joint housing and ABS tone ring to adequately fit and grease the grease nipple? I ask because I see that the original ball joint was a sealed design, and didn't have a grease nipple.

I feel you! Jack up the front end and check for play in the wheel. Grab it at 12 and 6 o'clock position and see if the wheel moves. You can also use a pry bar and check for play at the suspension parts. Also if the boots are ripped, start looking to change them.
