The results you get by doing a video like this were greater than you thought it would be just reading the title. That is all just basic things that are learned very early, but showing it how it works the way you are doing it truly makes it amazing. I love your videos, you inspire and motivate me many times of the week. Keep up the great work. (i especially love your videos about geometrically based illusions)

What a great video I love to color but only have 30 percent of my vision and, I find myself having a very difficult time on detailed pictures but this has helped a tun! Rather then only coloring a few pages out of the books I buy I can now go back and color them!

I physically cringed when you dumped out the pencils so harshly like that; I use Prismacolor soft cores and you know how easily the leads break inside the pencil.
That tip with the tracing paper was brilliant; I'll be doing that from now on to help me both makes sense of complex images and choosing a color palette. Thanks!

I would suggest, at the end, going back in with a deep black india ink and a ruling pen and laying in the original black lines again, to tighten the whole composition up again. It would require professional level skills and a steady hand to do it, but it would really set this piece off.

QUESTION: ok so if you just pick up all these colors and just color without thinking of warm and cold colors or which is opposite on the color wheel and all that stuff.... Wouldn't your picture turn out with the same results... ?? I'm not saying color each little piece all crazy like diff colors... Like make each section even with the colors the same on all sections but just not plan where each color will go..

Just a tip..always remember the rainbow colors through their initials ROY GBIV..
    then paring the colors
    R+ G
    O + B
    Y + IV
i find this easier to remember than imagining the color wheel

Holy heck. I've been coloring for a year and a half now. I was so great with pens but have been trying for months to use colored pencils. Trial and error. Mostly error. Most videos just kind of annoy me, and I'm not saying the music doesn't bore me (hello, anybody heard of pink Floyd or something mellow for these types of videos?) God. But anyway, you are brilliant, despite the shitty music and I learned a lot. It's important to me to create art because I can't even draw a stick figure. I'm pretty good at coloring but this is my favorite video on the subject and I've watched endless tons, but only for 4 minutes max. I'm going to watch the last 3 minutes of yours. Who would have ever known about that paper??

Coloring is supposed to be fun and relaxing. Doing all that tracing and "preparation" takes the relaxation out of it. Also....don't EVER dump your pencils out like that. The leads will break inside the pencils and you'll have garbage. My pencils are very soft leaded and break so easily. I'm not a big fan of coloring mandalas. I prefer animals and scenic pictures. Mandalas are just too much work and not as enjoyable to me.
