    _______________________________________________________________
Show and Tell knitting podcast focuses on vintage (and vintage-inspired) hand knit garments, how to make them and how to accessorize them. Your host, Billie ("billietoy"), uses costume jewelry, hats, handbags, gloves and scarves to style each sweater.
Some episodes include guest knitters from around the world who will showcase their personal collections. Each will share selections from their portfolio of retro garments, from cardigan sweaters to jumpers / pullovers to coats and jackets.
Whether you have a passion for vintage 1940s style, or want to follow me on my knitting (and travel) escapades, each episode will bring a new adventure. You're likely to see patterns or yarns that will inspire you, particularly if you love vintage fashion.

Wow, Billie! I so enjoyed this one. So much here, thank you for such a comprehensive overview of the show. I feel in some ways part of your experience. The fashion show was wonderful. Now I really want to attend next year! ❤

Billie -great to see you in all your different outfits, I can't decide which I like best and so nice that people stopped you at the show to comment. As Robin says, there really is the feeling of being there with you. I liked that FairIsle tank top with the vertical bands in the catwalk show, you took some nice clear photos - thanks! That haberdashery shop!!!!!!! I'm with you on these fitting classes, I took one in the UK with Kate Atherley where she simply recommended not playing about with shoulder and armscye! It was a big disappointment. I'm glad you at least found your class tutor entertaining.

Any clear photos were probably taken by my friend Cindy with her iPhone (or when I borrowed my husband's new phone for the day). Glad you enjoyed it all.

I have attended Vogue knitting in the past but in Seattle area. So much fun to see all the vendors and fashion shows. I didn't take any classes because I was overwhelmed by all that was being offered. Bought some yarn and enjoyed the day. Maybe Vogue Knitting will return in the future. 😊

My first two years I didn't take classes either because, like you, I was overwhelmed by all the other attractions. Now I've settled in and doing all 3 days I can pace myself.

Thanks for taking us along with you to this event Billie! So many wonderful things to see! 😍 Your green and white hat caught my eye… is that from a vintage pattern? Looked great on you!

You're welcome. Do you mean the Eau de Nile and teal hat? Yes, it's from a vintage pattern. I was tickled by how many people stopped me to say they liked it.

    Billie:
I loved this episode! I felt like I was there, and I loved your Birdseye view of the marketplace, as well as the close-up of the trims in that beautiful store. I recently took a fit class with Jen Parroccini, a knitwear designer, that I think you would be very much interested in., She taught had a entire worksheet about ARMSCYE, which is the measurement from the tip of the shoulder around the edge of the bust, and under the arm, and back up to the shoulder. This measurement is important for set in seamed and Raglan sleeve sweaters. She employs fit techniques from sewing and tailoring. She imparts quite a bit of knowledge and I think you might really enjoy it. Also her bust darts are revolutionary. I highly recommend looking into a fit class either remote or in person that she gives. Thanks for taking us along to vogue knitting live.

Hi Billie. Christine here from Beausejour Canada. Thank u for sharing because I will never make it to one of those. I can’t wait to see what you are knitting up. I’m knitting the marshmallow sweater from hobbii using up scraps. It’s got 4 colour intarsia and cables. Slow and interesting

Hi Billie, Bridget from Cowgirls blues was the Cape Town lady you mentioned. Their yarns are well known for beautiful colours. I think she is the most internationally active South African yarn dyer. About 6 months ago she was interviewed by Irina on the Fibrechat channel, if you are interested.

But there's also Jen @ GoodLoops from Pretoria. She had a rep at VKL in the past and I met her in person at Rhinebeck. You may recall she helped me get the just-right color for the Slit Neckline jumper to match my velvet vintage headpiece. They, too, have a huge array of colors....and we all know that's what I need!!

@@colettemoolman4410 I regret not having spent time in Bridget's booth. The colors she handed out to the others looked pretty.

Really enjoyed this recap. I'm from Europe ( the Netherlands) , but wil visiting north America in May. Of course I wil do some yarn shopping. Nice of you to pass on the project bag, would like to be the winner, as a remenbering of my visit to north America. I wil not visit New York ( was there 5 year ago) Like your podcast, mostly of the vintage knitting. Of course the patterns are in 1 size only, but keep on learning to make them for my body shape. Hopely you wil get those skills also.

What are you wearing, what yarn is it, and what is the colorway, if you don’t mind my asking?

      @ShowandTellknitting  7 місяців тому +1

In this episode, I'm seen wearing several things. One sweater at home and different sweaters on Friday, Saturday, Sunday at VKL. Can you describe the one of interest so I can give you the details?
