Hi Patrick, I have a tendency that when put on the spot to explain something I don’t know the answer to right away, but need to answer as soon as possible, to take the breath to speak and open my mouth, but hold my breath while I quickly think of the answer, and what happens is a little bit of air leaks out in my throat making strange sounds that aren’t loud enough for me to hear but are loud enough for the asker to hear if they’re close to me and it’s super annoying to them. How can I remember in the rare circumstances to make sure I don’t hold that breath in? It only happens during that kind of situation when I feel under pressure to have an answer, might say part of an answer, and stop myself before speaking more to think of what to say, which results in the breath hold. Therefore I don’t know how to work on it in other times because it’s only in that rare situation.
Edit: so unlike knowing I’m gonna go into a situation with anxiety, this is a more personal situation that I don’t know is going to come up.

@Ramscapture - it seems holding your breath is a defensive habit that’s not serving you well. At different times of the day when you think of it, do a quick body check. Where are you holding tension? Once you identify where it is, try releasing it. Letting it go.
As you run into these breath holding situations, you’ll start to develop a keener sense awareness of this holding on and eventually should be able to notice it on the spot and let go of it.
