Truthfully ever since I started seeing dark I've been a fan. His play style is soooooooo flexible and awesome control. I'm thinking he's gonna be one of the greatest zerg players of all time.
Alright, Ill admit: of all the Starcraft mirror matchups that you can get, I feel like ZvZ is just the worst. Lowko even addressed why in the video! It can be incredibly boring because unit diversity is pretty low and there are just no sure-fire counter-strategies early on. Games are often won off of small mistakes or build order differences. Having said all that, this entire series was an absolute banger from start to finish. After watching the first two games and realizing that the video still had around 40 more minutes of playtime, I knew it was going to be amazing, and it certainly delivered. The skill of the players, the excellent casting, and the added Lowko special" commentary really brought it all together. There was no better way to spend my dinnertime than watching this video. Thanks, Lowko!
Sounds fair, however! ZvZ its like juggling with nitroglycerine, and it is entertaining, you just need to take your eyes off the boring part and focus on the plus side of it.
TvT: as you can see every building every upgrade every unit is perfectly in sync with the other playing the most perfect and optimal build. ZvZ: Well one of them started as Terran and one of them started as Protoss but after 15 minutes they both arrived at lurkers
Usually I hate mirror matches because I'm colorblind and have a hard time telling the different players apart. But these two colors are perfect and I can actually follow the action.
22:27 to be fair i do it to something, because of the square base of the map, youve got flat area in the creep circle, so you just have to make 2 lines that cross each other and you get the creep tumor location
32:38 why those over lord at the front door? one thing interesting to mention, in ZvZ they don't do much of creep spreat roach better than zergling that much? its so weird serral playing like that....
In the first game, it was very clever of Serral to send in his first six Zerglings ahead of his main force. That way, when Dark realized it was an all-in, he tried to wall off only to find the first six Zergling blocking him off.
Regarding the mirror matchup discussion around 4:30, I have to say PvP is the most fun, ZvZ is usually fast and intense and such heavy micro, but TvT is tedious as hell unless it's just cheese
Honestly I think Dark won 2 games simply by having better army control. Serral had some great concaves at the beginnings of fights but during the fight I feel like Dark moved better.
Just curious, do we have any 4-player maps in starcraft 2 for 1v1 game match like Starcraft 1? Most maps in Starcraft 1 for 1v1 match are 4-player or 3-player maps
If we are going to make gambling comparisons, we have to do one for Byun. Simon, I believe in the past for Byun you have used the example of playing a game of blackjack, being at 18 and saying "hit me" in a game of regarding Byun's playing style haha. If anyone puts all their money on red in a game of roulette, it's Zest.
"There's Korea, and then there's the rest of the world." To be honest, it's starting to feel more and more like, "There's Korea, *Europe,* and everybody else."
Wouldn’t agree, I’ve seen some big plays made by players from the Americas it’s just that they don’t have the same chances I believe. Idk, not the biggest or supportive community or whatever
@@pablazonieva Of the top 40 on Aligulac, 19 are Korean and 16 are European. I definitely feel like since the amount of Europeans is almost as high as the amount of Koreans, one could say that Europe has earned its spot as one of the "SC2 regions." Given we're comparing a *continent* of 44 countries to just *South Korea* but still. Not saying there aren't good players from outside those two; Neeb, TIME, Scarlett, Astrea and Kelazhur are all top 40 and neither Korean nor European.
22:11 *Serral snips a creep tumor* Lowko: did he have vision, or did he know where that tumor was located based on the circle of creep Me: well...he had vision of the tumor while it was building, XD
Look into the Five Factor Model for personality (Agreeableness, Extroversion, Consciousness, Openess, and Neuroticism) You state that Serral has an emaculant place where everything has a place. That describes someone who is typically high in orderliness, which is a facet of Consciousness. People who are higher in Consciousness tend to be more goal oriented, long term, hard-working, and reliable. A person to practices a certain thing for extended periods of time until that certain thing his fully optimized would characterize a high level of Consciousness. To so make the statement that "Serral has a place for everything" lends itself to a more Consciousness person. Low in Consciousness would characterize a person who is more of a risk-taker, messy, short term rewards, less loyal (typically your entrepreneurs). Not only is Serral more likely high in Consciousness, I would guess he's also low in Agreeableness as a person who is low in Agreeableness and high in Consciousness means that Serral has disdain for people who don't work at the same level as he does. This has been showcased when Serral makes comments about players who gamble in SC2. The two major factors that contribute to success in any domain is I.Q. (processing power) and Consciousness (personality). This is why Serral is at the top. Serral is most likely conservative. Consciousness people tend to be more conservative and this may lend to why he is predictable. Also this could be due to Serral being lower in Openess (creativity domain). Serral is not a strategist which lends itself to Openess to I.Q. (Not to be confussed with precession power, rather a facet under openess which showcases a persons willingness to "think outside the box). Etc, etc....
Serral is not revolutionary. He only takes what other people have discovered and optimizes it to its fullest potential. I would argue that Serral would have been a crap SC2 player back in 2010 before people knew much about the multi-player. The more successful people would have been those who "thought outside the box" as those people figured everything out so that Serral could optimize it.
it mostly feels like Z has no real comback potential, yer some but not when you look at T or P, therefore when 1 lose a noteworthy fight in ZvZ the game is over. its the same if Z lose a noteworthy fight vs T or P but when T or P loses noteworthy fights they got So many ways to stall the game and so many ways to do comebacks that the cames need to be extremely one sided for it to end in a single engagement, build decision, unit composition etc.
Hohoho... Trying to guess the personalities of people Lowko? Well id say yes a playstyle is an extension of yourself, but it can be still slightly different playing games, or making quick decisions, over what they do in general... Very fun to speculate.
since serral got to the big leagues he won all offline series against dark with total map score of 11-2, while online dark only lost one series, with total map score of 11-5. So serral owns dark at bigger offline tournaments, while dark has the advantage in online games. Not bad for serral in his worst matchup against a top 2 korean zerg
At what point does the guy - who's known as the "Final Boss" for stopping would-be GOATs dead in their tracks one inch from the finish line - become the GOAT himself?
Serral isn't weaker in ZvZ it's just for some time zerg was really op so only zerg pros were able to compete with him. He also beat dark to become World champ
Serral going cheese always feel not so right and indeed the way he doing it in the last game not so right. Also off topic, Lowko asking how does the combat shield pop in the middle of the battle. My explain is that it is under software lock, it was there all the time but functionally locked, just like BMW heated seat.
I really don't get why Dark "gg" out of game n° 1. He has more minerals, 21 against 14 drones, with reinforcement coming. Only thing is he lost 2 queens. Not game ending for me
soft underbelly of Serral that has been taken advantage of over and over by the korean zergs: greed. Greed beats safe play, safe play beats cheese, and cheese beats greed. And serral is one of the greediest late game players of all. I don't know why they don't do it more after rogue did it multiple times in a row for an under 20 minute series. It's like he proved serral can't handle cheese builds.
That 3:57 wall off block was ELITE!
Serral realy pulled that uno reverse card in that first game
Ikr
I was going to sleep, but I guess the night is dark and full of Serrals.
hahahaha
Best comment.
The theory that SC2 playstyle correlates with the player's personality resonates with me.
@Michael Lochlann lol same
Love this. Gave him a taste of his own medicine
Truthfully ever since I started seeing dark I've been a fan. His play style is soooooooo flexible and awesome control. I'm thinking he's gonna be one of the greatest zerg players of all time.

But that is aids to play
Sounds fair, however! ZvZ its like juggling with nitroglycerine, and it is entertaining, you just need to take your eyes off the boring part and focus on the plus side of it.
ZvZ cheeses however are really fun to watch, due to being able to build on enemy creep
TvT: as you can see every building every upgrade every unit is perfectly in sync with the other playing the most perfect and optimal build.

Nice to see Serral still plays a masterful Game of Drones. Btw, bratwurst of a thumbnail by putting an S ranked face finally.
Maphacker moment 22:20
Dark's defense at 30:00 was just disgusting. The micro and targeting fire was nuts.
Anyone notice the rocket jumping dead roaches at 11:53?
I can't believe this channel is free. Top tier cast!
22:27 to be fair i do it to something, because of the square base of the map, youve got flat area in the creep circle, so you just have to make 2 lines that cross each other and you get the creep tumor location

Really nice to see the triple helmet theory in action
Wow!! The Finnisher finished!!
Great series by both!!
Excellent commentary!!
Dark is organized chaos whereas serral is OCD. That's my reflection on this matter
I wasn't expecting Dark to dominate Serral after first two matches.
That first game was quick but damn that kind of quick cleaver strategy is why Serral is considered the best.
2:49 - " It adds up very quickly in the Game of Drones " . Accidental, or on purpose punt, what do you guys think ?
26:00 ish "If Dark needs a stapler..." hahahhaha Got me there, Mr. Lowko! made me laugh. =)
I like the Poker anekdotes that you are making, keep it up!
2:47 I'm excited for next week's episode of Game of Drones
In the first game, it was very clever of Serral to send in his first six Zerglings ahead of his main force. That way, when Dark realized it was an all-in, he tried to wall off only to find the first six Zergling blocking him off.
Did a dumb where I assumed this was one game just bc I misread the title lmao
Love the personality theorizing. Very interesting.
Regarding the mirror matchup discussion around 4:30, I have to say PvP is the most fun, ZvZ is usually fast and intense and such heavy micro, but TvT is tedious as hell unless it's just cheese

Serral saw the creep tumor when it was building you saw it when you saw his vision that he knew it was there
just insane how Serral turned the game around in the first match
Just curious, do we have any 4-player maps in starcraft 2 for 1v1 game match like Starcraft 1? Most maps in Starcraft 1 for 1v1 match are 4-player or 3-player maps
Nah. Early game luck sucks. Better to win using skills
If we are going to make gambling comparisons, we have to do one for Byun. Watching yt captions trying to cope with cyril/sarah/serial/cereals name is hilarious
+1 armor doesnt always negate +1 weapons because for some units weapon upgrades converts to +2 dmg per lvl (or more) dmg
Game 1 was a thing of beauty.
Love your work Lowko, thanks for this.
Holy shit that first match!
"You dare rush me mortal?" Ends the game 2 minutes later.
"There's Korea, and then there's the rest of the world." To be honest, it's starting to feel more and more like, "There's Korea, *Europe,* and everybody else."

Holy crap that was a wild ride
Just...wow. That was awesome!
Epic. Matchup of the year.
The Game of Drones. I would read that book
Awesome comeback
Which league has the most pro players? GSL? Korean? Trying to get my SC2 back on
🎶 Drones, drones, game of drones🎶
"Game of Drones!" Hihi^^
That first game was amazing!
Was this game played at a tournament?
What even was that first game. Top notch entertainment
Dark wouldn’t have to ask his wife where the stapler is, he would just remember wherever he last set it down.

What a game one. Very impressive.
Dark's house would be a total mess and yet he knows exactly where everything's at
Most online games end up being Korea vs the rest
Spawning pool first always seems like a way to loose
just checking the replay timer after the 2. game.... :)
it mostly feels like Z has no real comback potential, yer some but not when you look at T or P, therefore when 1 lose a noteworthy fight in ZvZ the game is over. its the same if Z lose a noteworthy fight vs T or P but when T or P loses noteworthy fights they got So many ways to stall the game and so many ways to do comebacks that the cames need to be extremely one sided for it to end in a single engagement, build decision, unit composition etc.

Must say i love the non pro player matches more too see, because you never know what do are going to do xD The pro players are just not human.
This was a good video
Swirly arrow is back!
wall off block was 300 iq...holy shit
I guess Serral can find his scissors with his eyes closed
I'm not here to see Serral lose and lose again
Game of drones: lings of power.
36:23 Dark's dark past xddd
That was epic
i feel dark is the type to stream from a Raman Noodle House :P aahahaha

Dark is a wildcard that needs to be dealt with.
I heard injecting Synthol into your muscles can turn you into the King of Blades, except you cant duel Kerrigan.
Serral should know at this point that Dark goes 12 pool every ZvZ
Serral isn't weaker in ZvZ it's just for some time zerg was really op so only zerg pros were able to compete with him. He also beat dark to become World champ
I love ZvZ because it allows me to route for a zerg guilt free
*root
I have no idea where the phrase "to root for" came from, but that's what it is.
I think if you're at a point where watching Serral can't help you improve in ZvZ, Lowko probably can't help you either.
nice color =)
Starcarft music is underrated
Serral going cheese always feel not so right and indeed the way he doing it in the last game not so right. Also off topic, Lowko asking how does the combat shield pop in the middle of the battle. My explain is that it is under software lock, it was there all the time but functionally locked, just like BMW heated seat.
If Serral went for a base trade instead during the last game he would have won 100%
GAME OF DRONES.
I really don't get why Dark "gg" out of game n° 1. He has more minerals, 21 against 14 drones, with reinforcement coming. Only thing is he lost 2 queens. Not game ending for me
i should go to bed..
oh a lowko video..
oh a serral bo5
ok fuck sleep
Lowko, can you put your content on Odysee too? They have a great feature that will import your YT vids.
Uhhhh "game of drones" XD
Circe Lannister would be toss.
Go Dark.
Serral needs a chesing teacher. Maybe Bly can teach him
It seems blizzard finally nerfed Serral.

game of drones :D
Lowko do you realy want answer to the question of your sanity? ;)
@Lowko- how far you from Grubby? You guys should do a collab.
cool
I decoded Lowkoo, if he puts some one in the thumbnail, is the looser.
For Aiur!!!
Nice Nice.
Legendary ZvZ!
thumbnail very similar to harstem's
