    The length of the log in the diameter are crucial factors to help keeping the quadrants size appropriate into scale

    My dad past away 2 years ago and he carved for 23 years before he passed and that is how I got my name. "Carver" I want to start carving in memory of him but I don't remember how he did so ur videos help spark that memory and I hope one day I can bring back the chipper dan style.

    Wow.....I just finished my first carving , a Northern Pike ( locally called a Jack or " Slew Shark".
    You're the first video I've watched. Dumb me did this after. But it showed me I'm on track and some REALLY good techniques will be used . Little Bear is next and you've got a NEW SUBSCRIBER.

    If there is one thing I have the most of in this world it is OAK WOOD on our 7K acre ranch in Texas. I'm just getting into this with chain saws.
    I have this one dead tree below my house that is 15ft tall & 9ft in diameter. I see a giant wooden BIGFOOT in my future!

      Half the battle is starting the saw and doing it and you're halfway there by cutting down the tree ;)

    Great job! Good step by step instructions! I have been using a chainsaw since I was 13 but I have just started carving - doing tiki heads. After a few more tikis, two pelicans are my next project plans. I don’t know if I will attempt a bear, but they seem to be super popular in chainsaw art! You can see my beginner’s work on my Constance Bay Palms channel.

    Because of this video alone i will subscribe. Thank you. I have many questions like picking out logs to carve type of wood and width. Also a slower tortorial would be great but i might be able to play slow speed and follow that way would be honered to make one for my dad before he passes it would make him proud seeing as he was a farm boy most of his life and he wishes i learned some skills he has. I told him i have learned my own set of skills.

    I had this crazy idea to do a similar one but bigger so i could hang a quitar between the paws. That would be the coolest quitarstand in livingroom.
