I think it’s a great ship and you nailed its role perfectly. It’s either diving in first to try to get the jump on the enemy or it’s coming up at some point during the fight to clean up weakened targets.
The firebird fits the MMO archer/scout archetype. It's for players who prefer to stalk slowly and patiently. Sometimes you observe and leave without being seen, other times you position yourself, wait for the perfect moment, then destroy the target and cruise away while the escorts frantically search for you. If you like sub warfare sims you'll probably like the firebird.
@@fnunez I’d say the eclipse is the sniper / archer build. Whereas this is more like a rogue. You still have to get into relatively close range and have to use stealth and speed to not get hit.
The firebird is a ship i absolutely love the look of and im very intrigued by how a group of stealthy missile fighters using ambish tactics can work, but that store price was an instant turnoff. I'll be saving up for it in game for sure. Another important thing they updated was that it originally had HALF the stealth suppression effect of the Talon Shrike. So it was roughly half as stealthy, had half the missiles, and was $70 more than the Shrike. Now its much more on par with the Shrike but still $70 more for a ship with a dps difference of one s2 Mantis gatling hurts. Still a badass ship that ill fly the crap out of when it hits in game stores. Also, way back when they announced the Firebird, they said they also completed the base Sabre gold pass. Havent seen that in game yet
A missile boat is only as good as your support craft as I personally wouldn't recommend flying one unless you're in a group. It's a great attack/fighter if you're going up against other similar vessels, but you're only good for short engagements. I thought it would be great to solo in similar fighters, but soon learned that I need a gun-boat rather than a missile boat for extended solo engagements. Great video, and thanks for pointing out some things I hadn't considered about the FireBird.
I personally really enjoy how the ship sounds and flies, so in a way I don't look at it's combat capabilities, for me its just a fun ship to take out and fly about
I was out of the game for 2 years so missed the launch of this ship. Now that I am back I think this is the ideal small fighter to my taste. Of course space combat is not my primary way of making money so for me it is all about what is fun. Was planning to get the Shrike until I saw this.
Think of the Firebird as an anti-fighter Eclipse. It’s stealthy, and it has 4 chances, with 6 missile salvos, to kill any fighter in one barrage. Like the Eclipse, it is not useful when the ordinance runs out.
Yea, I have a Sabre Raven and while I do think the Sabre Firebird looks better than the base Sabre, the Sabre Firebird is definitely a ship I'll look to buy in-game over spending real money for it. Because of the Sabre Firebird though, the paints for the Sabre's, including the Firebird, now work with the Sabre Raven, so I picked up all the Sabre paints including the Auspicious Red one. They look so good on the Raven and hoping for more!
for me the reasons for owning a firebird are the same as why I own a Shrike. (I don't own a firebird, it would be redundant) Imagine in large org battles, a wing of 8-10 shrikes and/or firebirds with 24 size 3 missiles each, each ship paired with a better dogfighter to protect it, but as a pair, dayum!
I’m planning on getting it this IAE. I just love its look and feel. My plans on using it is either just doing MRT-VHRT for the pure fun, income not required. Playing as a team pumping out some damage at the beginning of a fight to make it easier in the long run for the team and then poking the rest of the enemies till the fight is over Maybe when we have more pvp bounties sneaking up and say “surprise!“ Does this sound right for this ship?
I like the style but sadly it just isnt a very good ship imo. Not in the sense that it cant do what its supposed to do but in every other aspect. Defensivly, the guns are pretty much useless thanks to Molasses Modes. It doesnt have the agility it would need to compensate for those small guns.
