I've been living on this playlist for the last couple of days. It's really grounding a lot of my unconscious into reality. It's freaky but synchronization is happening in big ways.
A good visual metaphor I found: Your ego is steering a boat on the turbulent river of the unconcious. You can navigate to some extend but not against the stream, at least not very long. Your ego has to get to know the river/unconcious to be able to steer to the less turbulent places. But once your ego thinks it mastered the uncocious/river a heavy current will appear and surprise you and maybe even turn your boat/ego over. Also interesting is that surfing is the embodiement of Logos and Eros. The surfer/logos has to ride the wave/eros, its a constant dynamic interaction that needs constant attention and humility.
Everyone to some extent,feels ; I am special, I am the one, no one is like me , and in some ways they are right, we /they are those thing's, but we are all equally vulnerable to calamity misfortune etc, and the people whose ego and world view supports their perceptions haven't had the gravity and magnitude of an event that makes them realise their span of control does not reach the expanse they envisaged, and they readjust, and can become cyclic , or one may realise ones limitations after one big adverse event. The ego is healthy in tandem with individuality, but alone is too much ,too soon, and can burn person out quickly. Which is why self reflection is important skill . Well done Steafan and James.

Hey guys, you did a good job explaining most of this difficult material but I think that you should explain the Ego- Self relationship more in depth because it is the most fundamental part of Jungian psychology. No other psychological tradition has two centers of the psyche. I recommend reading this paper by Edward F Edinger - issuu.com/lewislafontaine1/docs/edward_f._edinger_-_ego_and_self_pa ; Also you might want to check this out - christopherdickey.blogspot.com/2016/11/carl-jung-on-hitler-stalin-and_5.html "Carl Jung on Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini (1938)" - great interview in which he explains how Hitler is basically a mouthpiece for the German unconscious. It is a fascinating read and a good material for videos. Hope you find this info useful.
Hey boyos, great stuff. I have a question regarding Christianity- My family are Evangelical Fundamentalist pastors, and I can’t shake the sense that they have been inflated, or maybe possessed by scripture, in the sense that whenever I ask a question, scripture is all they answer back. It’s as if I’m not really speaking to them, but the religion they partake of. Is it possible to become possessed by religions that ostensibly cohere to Christian values as enumerated by Jung? I’m not a Christian at this time, it’s hard to square evolution with their insistence on a 6,000 year old Earth.

I’m really trying to reconcile myself and many Eastern ideas with Jung’s thought- that section you guys did about the vacuity of new age ‘enlightenment’ really tore me up, in that I personally see many Eastern types, including myself, denying the darker, violent, disturbing elements of the psyche, and that one must contend with one’s self, and become courageous and virtuous, to integrate it. I can tell I still have a grudge against Christianity, considering my past, but I can tell that Jung’s conception of Christ is so much more deep than anything I’ve heard in church. Ego inflation is kind of like blowing up a balloon. When the ego notices unconscious contents without integrating them, it superficially expands without taking on any significant mass that would lead to health and growth. As it is possessed by one complex, then another by turn, each successive expansion degrades the ego, like a man who tried to wear the clothes he did when he was a child. This continues until the ego bursts and reforms or is perpetually marred.
Aion fucked me up that an a string of powerful psychedelic experiences, mystical experiences I came to see what CG Jung wrote eloquently in this masterpeice. I am in complete awe.
Some of the contents in this video made me think about why a certain book did not make it into the Bible canon. I forget which one it was, but it was about a character during pre-flood days and a dream he had where he went into the very throne room of God. He claimed in the end that he saw himself sitting on throne. And it made me think that perhaps the character somewhere along the journey thought of himself to be his own savior, which I guess takes away from the main plot of the whole Bible. Very rough thought that I'm laying out here. Thank you for these videos. Giving me goosebumps.
This idea of inflation and identification with God is really Interesting, cause then you could say you're most God like when you're not identifying as God.. which really reminds me of how Odin is always described as appearing in disguise. Thinking about utopia: it strikes me as the search for utopia is as dangerous in society as it is within, for yourself. A personal utopia would be akin to a personal morality. Trying to create your own morality will eat you up, like Raskolnikov, or through other neuroses. There is a parallel between the two, societal and personal utopia.

In several interviews, Jung clearly states that his work is Typology, not Ontology; and I feel as though you guys interpret it as the latter. In modern day academical philosophy one would, for example, say that the abstract entity that is Hitler 'subsists', he doens't 'exist' metaphysically. Jung doesn't however claim that his work and subsequent ideas even subsist: he is pretty clear on it being typology for practical use in his own psychiatrical clinic and for individual spiritual work. I think it's funny though how you speak of the importance of one's Ego not being posessed by this or that personification of the Animus or the Anima; when James' Ego clearly is completely puppeteered by the Spirit or Jordan Peterson. His Persona is almost indistinguishable in gestures and what not. This is not meant as a slight or anything. Merely comedy!

7:17 idk why but i have strong urge to tall ya my dream i hade after aion8. For some reason i went with my crew to mars and we had to settle down or some shit. For some reason we went to explore and were on some iron stuff, and it started shaking a really bad and everything fell. I witnessed pretty clear image of them getting killed, then i was almost in a desert trying to sent a message to earth that i was there alone. I remebered that one guy stayed on the station and i tried to send him something( maybe where i was or something) i know that i cursed bcs that shit didnt work. For some reason i found old crew which was surprised to see someone new and when they knew we came (i and 1 guy left) they wanted to go to our station. we geared up and went. For some reason we were going in almost comando formation, for some reason i had a bow. And i said to one girl i dont feel really comfortable with bow and we changed. At that moment i had some weird filter between us and i had to try really hard to exchange our weapons. It almost got 1 guy killed bcs out of nowhere a weird creature like a big ass bird tried to attack him, but some car ran intoo him and saved him. We jumped to the car, for some reason i wanted to keep my head out of a car cuz we were stacked in there( for some reason there was my dad) and then we drew of.end Btw my interpartaion: mars- unkown my crew- maybe my personality or how i saw mayself crew getting killed- getting rid of illusion about my self, seeing my self truly 1 guy on new station (my friend from school)- idk wanting to call- wanting help, knowing that imma die if i dont find a place- so it is not gonna be good for me to stay out on the desert in the unkown new crew-new characteristics, finding new traits in my vie shadow work or whatever going to new station- maybe transformating my new characteristic to conscious and that bird - idk some threat and end idk why i am sharing, but i had some urge to do it

Schopenhauer definitely sounds (archetypally speaking) like someone who failed to properly integrate the lessons of the hero's journey and therefore loses their vitality, rather than regenerating vitality... All of the potential aversions of the hero's journey and the consequences of non-integration of the archetypal understanding given in such a journey (aversions of a hero's journey are examples of a failure to integrate) is quite an interesting study. it is also really interesting when you consider that Kundalini activation typically occurs in the age range that a traditional midlife crisis occurs in, and it [a midlife crisis] can be properly understood ( in the system of Kundalini yoga, a midlife crisis and the transition from youth into middle age or middle-aged into older age are opportunities to review any and all lessonsthat were skipped over or misunderstood in a previous stage, furthermore Kundalini energy itself can be seen as a type of energetic circadian rhythm that is ultimately designed when properly integrated to boost vitality in the second stage of life) as a failure to integrate that energy if one's vitality declines after [the crisis]. one can look at any reduction of vitality/wonder at any stage in life as a failure of integration of the lessons given in the hero's journey. A tiring and loss of desire for life as well as the sense of wonder inherent in life, is very typical and is often the most profound sign of the failure to integrate an archetypal lesson. ultimately it's very positive because any decision can go against the sounding board of causing an increase or reduction of vitality concurrent with a sense of wonder and awe with the universe. one can know if one properly integrates the lessons if one's vitality increases after the situation through which the lesson was manifesting itself...if in the case one finds oneself in the realm of that which schopenhauer described then one can rest assured that one missed the lesson entirely and will have to repeat it again. it also paints a positive picture in that wisdom is not a metric of age but rather a metric of how well integrated archetypal understandings are. For those who are stuck in certain (non-vital, remember vital meaning the force of life, so any understanding lacking the vital energy can also be understood to lack life force) modes of understanding it presents a way out that can be felt intrinsically rather than one that has to be thought out using ordinary mental consciousness which can only go so far.

In several interviews, Jung clearly states that his work is Typology, not Ontology; and I feel as though you guys interpret it as the latter. In modern day academical philosophy one would, for example, say that the abstract entity that is Hitler 'subsists', he doens't 'exist' metaphysically. Jung doesn't however claim that his work and subsequent ideas even subsist: he is pretty clear on it being typology for practical use in his own psychiatrical clinic and for individual spiritual work.

7:17 idk why but i have strong urge to tall ya my dream i hade after aion8. For some reason i went with my crew to mars and we had to settle down or some shit. For some reason we went to explore and were on some iron stuff, and it started shaking a really bad and everything fell. I witnessed pretty clear image of them getting killed, then i was almost in a desert trying to sent a message to earth that i was there alone. I remebered that one guy stayed on the station and i tried to send him something( maybe where i was or something) i know that i cursed bcs that shit didnt work. For some reason i found old crew which was surprised to see someone new and when they knew we came (i and 1 guy left) they wanted to go to our station. we geared up and went. For some reason we were going in almost comando formation, for some reason i had a bow. And i said to one girl i dont feel really comfortable with bow and we changed. At that moment i had some weird filter between us and i had to try really hard to exchange our weapons. It almost got 1 guy killed bcs out of nowhere a weird creature like a big ass bird tried to attack him, but some car ran intoo him and saved him. We jumped to the car, for some reason i wanted to keep my head out of a car cuz we were stacked in there( for some reason there was my dad) and then we drew of.end

Schopenhauer definitely sounds (archetypally speaking) like someone who failed to properly integrate the lessons of the hero's journey and therefore loses their vitality, rather than regenerating vitality... All of the potential aversions of the hero's journey and the consequences of non-integration of the archetypal understanding given in such a journey (aversions of a hero's journey are examples of a failure to integrate) is quite an interesting study.
it is also really interesting when you consider that Kundalini activation typically occurs in the age range that a traditional midlife crisis occurs in, and it [a midlife crisis] can be properly understood ( in the system of Kundalini yoga, a midlife crisis and the transition from youth into middle age or middle-aged into older age are opportunities to review any and all lessonsthat were skipped over or misunderstood in a previous stage, furthermore Kundalini energy itself can be seen as a type of energetic circadian rhythm that is ultimately designed when properly integrated to boost vitality in the second stage of life) as a failure to integrate that energy if one's vitality declines after [the crisis].
one can look at any reduction of vitality/wonder at any stage in life as a failure of integration of the lessons given in the hero's journey. A tiring and loss of desire for life as well as the sense of wonder inherent in life, is very typical and is often the most profound sign of the failure to integrate an archetypal lesson.
ultimately it's very positive because any decision can go against the sounding board of causing an increase or reduction of vitality concurrent with a sense of wonder and awe with the universe. one can know if one properly integrates the lessons if one's vitality increases after the situation through which the lesson was manifesting itself...if in the case one finds oneself in the realm of that which schopenhauer described then one can rest assured that one missed the lesson entirely and will have to repeat it again. it also paints a positive picture in that wisdom is not a metric of age but rather a metric of how well integrated archetypal understandings are. For those who are stuck in certain (non-vital, remember vital meaning the force of life, so any understanding lacking the vital energy can also be understood to lack life force) modes of understanding it presents a way out that can be felt intrinsically rather than one that has to be thought out using ordinary mental consciousness which can only go so far.
