What qualifies a mini figure as “new” or “used”? Ones that come in sets have to have been taken out of a set to be sold individually, so they can’t be “unopened”. And those comic con ones are in a packaging that aren’t sealed and easily open and closes. How can you tell the difference between one that has been taken out or never opened?
@@DuckBricks I like sets, usually because of the mini-figs so that is more appealing to me than rare Comic-Con figures. I do understand that everyone has their different collecting focus. Looking at your video background your focus might be everything 😜. I am slightly jealous as I only get a corner of the basement ☹️.
It really blows that minifig prices have become so inflated. Not just referring to the rare ones. Even minifigs that are still being printed go for like sometimes $20 a piece. Insanity. Truly, the worst thing that the pandemic did is destroy pokemon and lego
I own a Lester minifig that was given out at the opening of the London Leicester Square store . Number 059 of 275. They subsequently released it as a poly bag but mine has the original packaging so I consider it rare
I decided to hold off on that to see if he will come in any 2024 sets, because then the value would plummet despite me spending $2K on him - we will have to see!
Just shows how hyperinflated everything actually is...and the rich are just out there to get the occasional big fish and inflating the price. All it takes is a global hyper-recession to make these guys needy and sell these off out of desperation. Maybe a Kaiju attack or two should do it.
Here's a fun game for your channel crew to play: Drop them in your collection and have them pick up 3 items and add up their prices for a score. Then them knowing what's the rarest will help them lol
Black Superman was bought for $1,100.00 back in June of 2023, but is selling for $8,000-15,000. That shows you whats the real value of some of this minifig really is and how some of this so called influencers help hype up or inflate the prices.
Personally I think it’s fine; they’re for my own collection and not for resale anyways so it doesn’t matter to me if there may be very minute stress on the legs because of that
The only one on this list that I own is the Cloud City Boba Fett. That figure is the perfect example of "just because something is worth x or is being sold for x doesn't mean you can sell your copy for that much" in that being in Australia, not having a BrickLink store and hating eBay with a passion, there is no real way for me to sell it.
Holy shit 1500 for that boba? I’ve loved legos my whole life but I recently started getting back into them, buying sets and building my collection. I watched this video just for entertainment and background noise while I’m going through all of the legos I have at my parents place (I have several large tubs full lol), and I found 2 of those cloud city boba’s, and I’m 3 tubs deep. I remember there was like 3-4 birthdays in a row that my parents bought me a huge Lego “dump” (those things you can buy on eBay and other places that people sell just a big pile basically) and in high school when I got my first job I was buying those “dumps” too. I never really sifted through them all closely, didn’t really know about collecting side of Lego. I have 4 1/2 tubs left so I’m really hoping my luck is good today and I can find another one 🤞
Sweet collection. I’ve got the fett and pulled me gold from a shelf bought packet. But sold him to pay for an amazing holiday that year. Also got nycc fett brickhead and owner of LEGO sigfig/ buisness card. They mean more to me.
This collection is insane! Not trying to be rude, but could you maybe change up/turn down the background music? It gets a little distracting at times, again this was a really cool video though!
Hmmmmm. The 2011 Comic Con Green Lantern is just as rare the Batman. Both were limited to 3000, 1500 of each at San Diego and New York respectively. It's just that the Batman is obviously more popular than the Green Lantern, hence the slightly higher price....
I feel nervous for you touching the rare figures without gloves! And maybe keep the legs and torso separated so you don’t stress the parts and risk cracking ;)
I've got 10 huge yellow Lego brick displays that were hung above the Legos inside Walmart on the Lego Isle and are about 3 1/2 to 4 feet in length and they have a square cardboard picture of different Minifigure characters in the center of the Lego brick display If anyone is interested let me know I'll let them all go for $200 for all them and I have the bracket's that were used to display them above the Legos
Lego values are weird. The recent purchases would suggest the stated values are not nearly that high as that's not what you paid. Granted you have access to a seller network that most people don't. To me, the sold price is much more indicative of value than listed prices for sale. The T-Rex doesn't appear to sell very often so the value is hard to say whereas CC Bobas seem to change hands all the time, giving more confidence in what it's actually worth (for example).
Mr. Gold's staff is build wrong. flip the top part so that the normal gold is holding the diamond. I also don't like what happened under the arms. Coming from a fellow Mr. Gold owner.
I dont understand why you quanify rarity primarily by value.. value can result from rarity but is not the definition of rare. Rarity is synonomous with scarcity... I.E 5000 gold mans is less rare than 1500 comic con exclusive figures.
I always prefer to have my sets open and unboxed rather than sealed, and never plan to resell something like that, so it made sense to open for my collection!
He probably just buys them new as in at launch then stashed money for a time he can buy figs like this he said he bought it all last year kinda never really before that so he had years to build up the money for buying it all
He's stated his occupation and I'm sure his family is not doing too bad either. Some of the recent collection is obviously from LAN, but I'm sure the bulk of it is either personally buying them or receiving them as gifts over the years. Very few people have collections like this and he states a rough estimate of the total sets. Even if you take each set valuing $50 each, then that's quite a bit of currency. Of course some sets are way more than that. It's been discussed in public articles before where he was interviewed. The collection is estimated in the seven figure range. He's a true collector, which is respectable today in the sea of LEGO investors. Hopefully he opens a museum one day.
This goes beyond a collection, it’s an archive.
Just a hobby
He wasn't originally called "BrickArchivist" for nothing lol
Just a hobby he can quit whenever he wants
For real a museum
I'd honestly love to see the exact same video, but excluding the comic con exclusives.
I’m sorry you can’t afford the comic con exclusives

I feel that Mister Gold might be the most obvious villain character ever created.
The most incredible part if how he finds more space every single day. I have 300 sets and run out of space constantly.
He expands his underground Lego bunker like a groundhog.
I would like to see the top ten of regular Lego sets.
That’s a great idea; I may do a top ten rarest Lego SETS I own video in the future!

I wonder what the list would look like without SDCC minifigures
I want Mr. Gold
Those bricks are super cool
Would be just full of other minifigs instead
When I saw the boba fett arm cracked. If I had a heart I would have cried
Best review I’ve seen, so much information which I loved, and the great camera and editing!
This is making me jealous 😂 You have an amazing collections
