Followed your instructions for a successful upgrade to my A515-56. They improved installing the SATA drive to just plugging it into a connector after screwing the cradle to the drive. Works great, thanks so much for the detailed, accurate instructions.
Ey bro how's it going with the laptop ? Does it have any hitting issues ? Im planning to buy the model with i5 11th gen and mx350 graphics . I wanna know if it gets so hot that it won't run games or editing apps
Thank you Dale. Now I know how to upgrade my favorite laptop, the Aspire 5. Your instructions were clear and precise. . . something you don't get on other sites. BTW, I'm also going to replace the battery while I'm at it! Thanks again from a young 79 year old. Joe G.
A very comprehensive video. My only problem is trying to convince an Acer support technician that I was supposed to get a free SSD upgrade kit with my recent purchases. It's like talking to the wall. I'm sitting here with my Crucial 1TB SSD in my hand with nothing to fit it with. Every video I've seen mentions that Acer provides the kit in the laptop box, and I wish that Acer's own people knew this. AAAARRRRGGGGGHHH.
For those connectors, I usually pull them in by tab, it's there for a reason. Thanks for this, I'm going to upgrade an 11th Gen intel Aspire 5, and this is a good general guide.
Hey Dale, thanks a lot for the video. I have this exact acer model and will be upgrading soon... Now i know what disks to buy and how to successfully install them
I have a new (last year) Acer Aspire 5, (i-5) with Iris Graphics. I have added a 16 GB Crucial so-dimm , (20 GB total) a Crucial 1TB SATA drive. I have not YET upgraded the primary (Gen 3) M2 NVME drive. But I might yet. It came with a 512 GB drive. With 20 GB of RAM Task Manager says I am only using 25% of System Resources. I am very happy with it.
Thank you so much for this video, I bought one 2 years ago and I would like to do an upgrade. My battery is not giving the best performance currently, which battery would you recommend me to buy?
great video but could you possibly post a link to where I could purchase the craddle or tray that the ssd sits in that mounts to the laptop hard drive bay, and also the correct cable to connect it to the motherboard? My laptop didnt come with any of that stuff. Thanks in advance
I love that acer allows you to upgrade it without voiding the warranty. I'm so glad I chose this laptop last year on black friday. It still costs more than what it did then and I put a second ssd in it. Im looking for another m.2 right now to upgrade. It came with a cheaper Hynix, and I have a samsung evo sata SSD in the empty bay. I have to clone windows to it, then put it back on my new m.2 ssd. What software is best to clone?
Acer Aspire 5 (i-5) I installed 16 GB RAM (20 Total). I installed a Samsung 970 Evo Plus (500 GB) and a Samsung 870 SATA SSD. (1 TB) That's about all that CAN be done to boost THIS laptop's performance. But I like it and I am NOT complaining. Cheers!
excellent video..i have a question and I hope that you see this. If i'm only adding a 500g ssd to the laptop and upgrading the ram to 16g, do I have to clone? I want to keep the OS on the existing ssd. Any help on this would be appreciated
I've got an a517. I just loaded the mvme 2 drive and cloned right from the 1 terabyte onboard HHD. Reassigned the boot order and erased the HHD. It has 12 gigs of ram and that seem plenty. More storage than I need.
excellent video just like the other one you posted that was a HUGE help in upgrading my acer aspire laptop thank you so much :) I did have a question though maybe someone else reading this can answer if Dale is busy making videos/repairing computers? :) ( to which I say go Dale and thanks again for all these fantastic videos :) ) .. has anyone purchased the m2 usb dock he linked and if so how did it work for you cloning a Windows 11 m2 drive off an acer aspire laptop ? I know Win 11 has the whole secure boot thing going on so not sure how it reacts to cloning ... also has anyone trying using the free version of macrium reflect to do this?
I've just got the newer version of the Aspire 5, I was gonna put in the SK Hynix Gold P31 I have that Im using as an external storage rn but the SK Hynix 512GB drive it comes with is blazing fast, pretty much same speed. My old asus had an SN530 which was much slower.
Does Acer provide a SATA cable to install a mechanical hard drive because my Acer Nitro didn’t come with SATA cable I’m assuming the hard drive cage is in the laptop already but I have not opened my laptop yet
Hi Dale. Thank you for this video. I am in the process of researching for a new laptop and I am almost certain of purchasing this model. I was wondering is the cloning essential? Cant I just pop in the 1TB Nvme right out the box into the slot? TIA
@@CadillacComputerCenter Thank you. I really appreciate this. I will be getting a 1 TB 2.5 inch ssd at the moment and keep the 256 gb nvme as it is. I will upgarde the ram and nvme in the future. Thank you and Take care.
Have the acer 515-44-R93G model with a 128g 2.m NVME PCLe ssd and I think 4g ram soldiered to the MB with an additional single slot which I believe you can add an additional 8g or maybe a 16g of ram but not sure (hard to find answers) my question though is I have another acer with a crucial 1 T with windows 8.1 on it and I want to get a new 1 T 2.m NVME PCL to replace the 128g one. Have not turned the 44-R93g on with windows 10. Plan is to remove the 128g one...clone or image (not sure which but know how to do both with acronis) and use that tool you used to copy the 8.1 windows as a source drive onto the new 1 T NVME ssd. Then just put the new 1 T NVME into the machine and start it for the first time hopefully with windows 8.1 as the OS...does this sound OK to do? Note problem is the windows 8.1 ket is on the MB of the other laptop so I don't have it available. Any suggestions to accomplish this is appreciated. Btw I just subscribed. Thanks in advance:)
I have a truckload of installed software that I've customized with keyboard shortcuts and presets. Will cloning allow me to have those setting and presets brought over to the new drive?
Sir, In Acer aspire 5 - A515- 56 i5 11th generation (8gb + 1TB HDD model) May I know there is one more additional slot to put SSD along with 1TB HDD so after that I will use SSD & HDD both simultaneously?

Can you make a video on how to fix the blue deaf screen on a acre aspire laptop,,,I put in a 2tb drive and tried to install a older windows on it and it froze the screen it keeps turning on and off (blue deaf screen)

Hi there. Been thinking about that. Windows 7 has worked so well for the work we do in that PC. Afraid to upgrade to 10. Lol. If it ain't broke, dont fix it, right. Dale

I upgraded my acer A515-45G virtually identical to this, it was great to finally get a modern laptop which was so easy to get into.

It's not a gaming machine to run AAA games, I ran Eve-online with setting turned down for hours at a time with no heat issues
Dale the man!! followed this to a T and did not even have to loosen the wider white ribbon wire! Thanks again! even order those triangle spudges
Awesome. Good job

where can i purchase the caddy kit that includes the sata cable?

What is 2 slots for between battery and ssd?
