I just got a beautiful white robe and want to do a galaxy style but real nervous on where to start. I have an idea as the bottom would be black and gets lighter towards the top like dawn's raising. I trust your great style and techniques to help me with this dilemma. Great videos from you. Demo this idea on your next video would be GREAT.
A few things: 1) Make sure you soak your shirts in soda ash (dye fixer) solution before dying them. 2) Make sure that while they're setting (after you dye them), they don't dry out (plastic bags help) and the room they are in is AT LEAST 70 degrees Fahrenheit (this is necessary for the dye to react with the fabric and permanently color it) 3) Apply some sort of heat after they've set (either wash them in hot water or let them dry, then iron them, then wash them). Try it out!
One more thing, try mixing your dyes at a higher concentration than the package recommends; they want to be able to advertise "This kit dyes 30 shirts!" so they tell you to use very little, but the colors look way better (and last longer) when the dyes are more concentrated.
To help hold color, hand wash your tye dye material in soda ash for 30 minutes before you dye it and then once the dye is set in after 8-12 hours, you can wash it with other tye dye clothes in cold water, but what we do is take a shower in our shirts and let the dye set in that way, but if you're not looking to dye yourself in the process I wouldn't suggest it.
How do you wash your tie dyed shirts? cold water? do you hand wash em or pop em in the washing machine? do you only wash it with other tie dyed shirts? will the residue from the dyes remain in the washer and stain the regular white clothes? and do u use regular laundry detergent or must i buy something else?
for black material it will not work very well. what you could do is reverse tie dye which would be instead of using dye to dye the shirt you would use bleach. has some cool effects
you mentioned speeding up the dye setting in by putting the shirt into a plastic bag & into the microwave. which tie dye kits have the most harmful stuff in it if you try speeding it up via microwave? the tie dye kit i have is "tulip".
@jamie arquiro I'm just curious, but what is wrong with soda ash that you gotta find an alternative to it? Soda Ash is just Washing Soda (Sodium Carbonate) and is pretty cheap.
This is the most legendary guy to ever make a video on youtube
that looks awesome, i need to do it
btw, am I the only one who finds his videos so relaxing, almost like ASMR? idk but i love it haha

itll still look decent but the black is what really makes the colors pop
That looks sensational!
@qonejalove after 6-8 hours you have to rinse it with water. i usually put it in the washing machine but you can rinse it with a hose or in the sink
Love that design!!
Awesome job really like this one, gonna try to make one like it.

That's sooo awesome!
Wow that one is really cool
I love how you make UR tie die shirts
awesome tutorial. im going to try it today
nice!
This is so creative damn!
is the shirt soaking in anything in particular beforehand and does it NEED to be wet before adding dye
?
soaking it in a soda ash solution helps the dye bond to the fabric so it lasts longer. damp fabric is much easier to manage aswell
I love this .this is cooooooooooooooooool
Thats so dope do you know how to make it look more galaxy type ish?
I've seen you at a couple shows at Royal Oak!
if you don't add in the black at the end, will it still look decent?
beautiful!!! thanks for the video
That's awesome man!
wow.... that is amazing!!
do you possibly sell any of these, or make custom shirts? bc i wouldnt honestly buy like, a shit ton of em
Do you HAVE to put the swirl in the middle? I dunno, but I just have this weird problem where I hate having main designs in the middle of my shirts.
Obviously not g x)
tie dying has no rules
Tru
yes it is!
Cool job!!
so I don't put black on the front of the shirt
Wow...... Just wow.
Ohmygosh, you're adorabe~
This is simply stunning what brand t-shirts do you use and tie dye and where do you get it? Also are you a furry?
is there any alternative for soda ash ?! :) or I can dye without it ? thanks :) thumbs up for your dyes :)
you can dye without it but it will not be as vibrant and it's gonna wear out after a while! I dye without it and it gets kinda blurry... :-D

spunions make the best art
Where did you get the applicator? Any alternatives to that?
was your tshirt wet before you put the dye on?
How much time does the microwave cit off from the drying time?
i have a Q everytime i do a shirt i let it set for 1 day and every time i wash it the color comes out....how do i stop that from happening
what colour do you use? I mean what brand...?
Aaaaaaamazing!
it doesnt have to be damp you just have to make sure the shirt was soaked in soda ash water before hand
Do you put it in the dryer afterwords?
WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT HAT
Nice hat bro
Bro. I like your Bracelet.

Not into dye but WOW nice job!!!
i am actually gonna attempt this tomorrow to see how it comes out
l;l'l
does the shirt have to be damp before i do this?
Normally before you tie dye it is best if it's damp... not sure if his was or not? I'd do it damp to be honest.
Please tell me were you get the dye.!!!!
was the shirt wet before you did it?

where do you get all the dye n stuff from
i dont live int he us and i cant buy that dye i cant ectually buy it anywhere here unless its like 35 euros any ideas ?
excess dye will always run off the shirt when you rinse it but it shouldnt fade. i know rit dyes tends to fade alot. i wouldnt reccommend rit dye.
