hating Blizzard isn't popular anymore that stopped about a month ago, you don't have to keep going just because you were reminded by a youtuber to dislike them
The fact that Diablo Immortal was still nominated for Best Mobile Game at this year’s Game Awards, despite being one of the worst and most hated releases of this year, really goes to show how shitty the mobile gaming market is these days.
As if the ""game awards"" actually mean anything or what. It's all a pointless sham, much like the Oscars. Of course complete cancer like diablo immoral is gonna win an award, gotta fool people into thinking it's a ""good game"" and advertise it, bet the people behind that scam of a show got paid real good by shittyvision/blizcrap for that
Wouldn't doubt that it was CAUSE of the "Do you not have phones" that they did the PC port too. And as a dude who had to upgrade a phone for a far less graphically intence game 3 seperate times to get one that actually PLAYED the game? Fuck that "Do you not have phones?" guy...
I recall having played Gameloft's Dungeon Hunter many, many years ago, and honestly, it wasn't that bad to play. Given that experience, I didn't mind the idea of Diablo on the phone. Of course, that's so long as it wasn't taking away from what matter more... Diablo IV. If I remember correctly, the first two Dungeon Hunter games were just an upfront purchase with no micro-transactions, but that all changed with the third one, of which I barely played any. It's kind of odd thinking about how even mobile had a period where it wasn't too uncommon to have games with upfront purchases and little to no microtransactions.
There's zero expectations with Waifu Impact. You can tell exactly what you're getting into from the store page alone and it's a game you're highly unlikely to play unironically unlike the rest of the games on this list. (Other than maybe Garfield but that's still a beloved franchise that you think would be handled with some semblance of care.)
Perhaps I'm not entirely right about this, but technically OverWatch 2 did exactly what the antagonist in the movie Free Guy wanted to do with the game they were working on. Doesn't seem like only art imitating life as much as life is imitating art...
@@paulovinasrocha6166 yeah i soon learned about it and this one is plain wierd? It's not like the other ones which usually is "finally it's here" and it's a link to a very obscure song or some form music that nobody even knows about. But here? What even is this? It's just "I hate TMNT" and other stuff for virtually no reason? Like seriously what purpose does this serve?
A battle pass that, after the first one, was essentially free since they give you the currency you need to unlock it at the start of every season, and can be maxed out (outside of coins for cosmetics) in just a few hours if you play well. It never forced you to spend additional money to unlock anything outside certain cosmetics not available through the battle pass. Not only that, but also after the first season, you could acquire all of the battle pass rewards using in-game currency acquired by just playing the game, if you prefer.
@@sean5038 Square announced the current season will be the last one. The game will still be playable, though. They just won't be releasing new major content. On the plus side, all previous items, including those that had been removed from the shop or were exclusive to certain battle passes, will reportedly be made available to purchase using tickets and coins (currencies that are acquired from gameplay) soon after the current season ends.

3:00 It's actually way more interesting than you might think! Super Eyepatch Wolf did an amazing deep dive into the weird place Garfield is at, and it's honestly fascinating. This thing Jared's talking about with Garfield just kind of lurking in the zeitgeist, omnipresent but unacknowledged, is a real phenomenon. And it led to Garfield being reinterpreted as capitalist cosmic horror.
Personally, I think the idea of playing as a human trying to survive in the super-powered world of DBZ sounds pretty fun. The one change I would make to the gameplay would be to have 2 DBZ characters that are pitted against each other. That way instead of having 1 player hunting a group of mostly defenseless players, the challenge for the regular humans is to not become collateral damage in the demi-god fight happening around them.
Or even better, have the non-fighters running around grabbing energy but they can use it the same way they do already, so they can actively help the Fighter, or you can give the power you find to the Fighter to help level the playing field. That way your win condition is “beat the villain” not “escape”. This would also make sense from a lore perspective as a fighter like Krillin might not be able to beat Cell normally, but a Krillin pumped up with a bunch of free power and backed up with a few helpers who have his friends powers? Playing field looks a lot fairer all of a sudden.
I usually love watching these year-end caps you make Jared. The good, the bad, and the ugly, but this year felt... painful. Like watching all those who had dismissed the gaming market now seeing it as their next cash cow, and only being able to idly stand by while the monsters fight for control over the thing I used to use to escape them.

I love it that when it comes to Top 10 worst games of the year you don't pick easy choices no you go deep in the trenches to see what's the worst shit that came out this year great job😆
There are way too many metrics to judge the worst game off of. Is a bad steam game equal to a bad triple A project that had more resources and talent but came out so disappointing? Is Overwatch 2 just Overwatch but worse and it's deleted or 'less than the sum of it's parts' since a lot of the promised content is missing and they had to remove existing characters due to bugs? I like when these lists both show some of the biggest disappointments but also show some games they remember being so bad no one even knew about them or had no hopes for them, like Waifu Impact making lists just because of how strange it is.
The "Worst Games" videos are some of my most favorite videos that come out every year. I think the saddest thing about these videos is that, as time goes on, there are fewer obscure/small games making the list, and more games come from some of the largest and most widely beloved companies. This series (and the Best Games) is like watching the gaming industry evolve year by year, I love it.
Sorta the problem with these games. They're not going to get much traction in the broader market: it's all about hooking in a few whales. That's how you make money in mobile, and it's disgusting.

I did play some new releases like Bayonetta 3 and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge however the best game I played all year was Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. Ender Lilies was a game that went beyond my expectations. Yes it's a Metroid/Castlevania inspired game but it's story, beautiful yet cryptic style, and gorgeous score really will stay with. It truly is an underrated gem that should be played. Currently played Mario + Rabbid 2. XD

When Microsoft bought them, one would hope there would be a massive cleaning house especially since it was in the peak controversy. But nope, doesn't look like it
@@meapickle I think it’s because they haven’t fully taken over yet. I may be wrong, but I remember reading in a couple of different articles that Microsoft wouldn’t have control until this year or next.
@GGMidori 21 I hope so because Activision blizzard needs a MASSIVE overhaul. But I can absolutely see Microsoft not being much better (no evidence on that but I'm sure there's something out there)
@@meapickle yeah, I agree. I wrote a comment here about how bad OW2 is, especially because a lot of the old heads jumped ship (miss Papa Jeff). I do know that at least Bobby K is going to no longer be in the picture once MS take ownership thank god. As for how Microsoft will fare, I’m cautiously optimistic. Some people seem to think it’ll be better, some think it’ll be worse (apparently Halo did not inspire confidence in some). Who knows? Only time will tell.
Whew! I saw The House of the Dead remake at a GameStop yesterday and almost got it (hadn’t heard anything about it before yesterday) but decided to wait until some other time to get it. After this video, “some other time” just got transformed to “never.” Thanks, Jared! 👍🏾
it's actually pretty good if you get it on PS4 or Xbox One though, the problem is that game just does not play well at all on the Switch because of it's control scheme.
As far as i know people that made it are actually fans of the original and they painstakingly recreated a lot of small details about the original. But they had very small budget and it does in fact run bad on switch. But runs good on PC and probably other platforms. Also, House of the Dead 1 is a very short game no matter what, so unless you are a super fan and it's on sale i wouldn't recommend buying it anyway.
I mean... I won't say that Jared's complaints about it are wrong, but I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed my own... 4? 5? Playthroughs I've done of it on Switch. That said, that's having gone in knowing that the game was going to be stilted by the motion controls, and being prepared for it. And IMO the game does a lot of things right to mitigate the control issues. While I'm not intimately familiar with the original, I HAVE spent a lot of time playing 2 and 3 as well as Overkill, and these zombies drop like flies compared to the amount of ammo a typical enemy would take in those games. Even with the bosses, they stagger easily in comparison, and in general it just feels like the (default) difficulty of the game is tuned with the lack of precision of the motion controls in mind. Also, it has Pro Controller support, which even playing with gyro controls I felt offered a lot better stability than trying to use the joycons. 'Course, I feel that's true of 99 percent of the library on the Switch, so.
Hi, i'm back to this video just to say: The Overwatch 2 PvE mode that was promised ended up being canned and replaced with a reprint of the old Archives events we got in OW1, only this time you gotta pay 15 dollars to access it. Every time a new one comes out. This game legit did NOTHING right.
don't forget about that twitch streamer that paid to win so hard at diablo immortal that he literally couldn't matchmake with anyone because he was out of their power scope, making the game basically unplayable with that character.
naw they bounced back pretty good at the end of the year. Overwatch 2 is fun and made the game popular again, Diablo Immortal is forgotten and no one cares, anyone who spent insane amounts money is a fool, a streamer or needs help or all 3. literally every AAA company is doing the same shit with their games, it's only bad when Blizzard does it, they were "our guys". At least you can say the games are playable upon release and don't get abandoned while they work on the 5th sequel or whatever

Activision Blizzard is losing players to every type of game imaginable... let that sink in. While some of those leaving players may not know about all the union suppression or the disturbing bro culture, many will know and remember (for a long time) the tone deafness of their most recent releases.
Some people might stick with Blizzard through the allegations just to play the games. But when you do hear about how horrendous it is, and the developers let that slide to put out Overwatch 2, Diablo Immoral and screwed up Warcraft 2 Reforge (even Hearthstone is kind of shaky these days), is any of it worth defending?
It’s rather funny that I quit Blizzard games because I objected to being forced to play as a war criminal in WoW BfA and _things went downhill from there._

I had no idea that they shut down Overwatch 1 when they launched 2. That just makes me sad, because I know i'm never gonna touch 2, but I consider going back to 1 on occasion.
OW2 is really a branding thing, but the game itself is much better than the original. 5v5 means the "Overbarrier" meta of shoot the shields is now gone.
the game itself is much better than OW1, just that the problem is literally everything else (lack of progression such as levels. The monetization is so bad like some of the bundles are worth MORE than the battle pass which is only 1000 coins AND contains tons of content that could fill up MULTIPLE BUNDLES, heroes being locked behind a paywall essentially unless you GRIND to tier 45 which could take possibly two weeks, maybe more. Not to mention the competitive system)

(Reposting my comment from another comment thread) I got in late into OW1 and poured so many hours into it as well as bought it for the Switch when it was ported. I had high hopes for OW2 (does no one remember that 1 and 2 were supposed to coexist and that you would be able to play with each other?), but as time went on and the game was delayed, I started losing faith. When the game finally released it was plagued with disaster after disaster: extremely long queue times, the phone number debacle (which if you didn’t have a postpaid number a la AT&T or Verizon you were screwed, and effectively banned a huge chunk of legacy players because they were “poors” who used prepaid phone services-myself included.), the shoddy merge of your account from 1 to 2 (some people didn’t have access to all their skins immediately from the previous game), the barebones battle pass, the extremely predatory in-game shop (1 skin can basically cost you up to 20 dollars; the same price used to be able to fetch you OW1 when it went on sale), etc,. That’s not even getting into the gameplay issues that the game has going for it. The poor matchmaking for competitive, terrible balancing of heroes (and their slow response into trying to balance said heroes even though they supposedly would be able to do that “more” often), the fact that within the first season 3 (THREE!) different heroes had to be temporarily disabled because they had game breaking bugs, the aforementioned locking of the new hero behind the battle pass. I loved Overwatch 1. I really did want to enjoy it’s sequel and give it a fair shot. But unfortunately, it seems that ActiBlizz just no longer care about their dedicated fans and only care to destroy yet another beloved IP by wringing as much cold hard cash as they can from its hollow husk. And it’s a real shame, because the world could always use more heroes; Blizzard is just no longer among them.
Considering that as far as I can tell, Overwatch 2 is massively successful... Yeah people are complaining but they're still playing it every day. People complain all the time, that doesn't mean anything.
Blizzard shut down the original Overwatch servers? That sucks I was considering playing it. At least Monster Hunter devs keep their servers going as long as they can.
Geeze, there's not even a fun side of "bad" games anymore. These aren't the AVGN types of bad games where you can laugh at them, this is all just "battle passes", "servers", "mirco-transactions", "updates", "loot boxes", and other problems that never should've even been a part of video games to begin with.
I'm still so sad about FFVII The First Soldier. I love the SOLDIER aesthetic and was really looking forward to a shootey tootey FF game. Instead we got the most awful by-the-numbers trend-chasing poorly monetized game I've seen in a good while.
Happy New Year Jared. I haven't had a chance to play many games this year, mostly due to my PS4 controller dying on me. Hopefully next year I'll be back to one of my hobbies and really enjoy some gaming. 😃

funny thing the first soldier was considered one of the best Battle Royale games for people who played it...but they wanted it on console. and the only way to play it reasonably was essentially turn your phone into a console by paring it with a controller and tv. they really shot themselves in the foot with that sticking to mobile thing because this actually from those who actually played it felt it could be a top contender against the likes of fortnite if they wernt stubborn about it being on phones only. instead they got a dead game.
I will say Babylon's Fall's lack of almost anything interesting was not Platinum's fault. They just wanted to make a multiplayer game with Nier's combat, but Square Enix delayed the game to transform it into a live service. Platinum essentially became puppet contractors, which is probably how Square Enix sees them.
And the sad thing about that is that it was still Platinum that had to take the fall and publicly apologize for the game sucking while they made a point to single out that Square was "completely innocent" in all of it.
At this point -when considering Korra, Ninja Turtles, Star Fox, and now Babylon Fall-, the theory that Platinum does the absolute minimum in contractual work, to funnel budget into development for IPs owned in-house, is starting to look very strong.
'multiplayer game with neirs combat' sounds fucking abysmal, considering Nier is entirely held up by 2B being sexualized, which is weird, because she's fucking awful in every way.
@@cursedex80 They don't own any IPs. So no it's a bad argument. TMNT was made under a year. Starfox was mostly Miyamoto forcing those controls. Korra again limited time and budget.

I didn't play many games in 2022 for a few reasons. 1. This was the year I was starting to get shit done with my life. I got a new job, moved out of my parents' house, and did a whole bunch of financial garbage. Needless to say, it was time consuming and stressful. 2. I focused a lot on replaying older games because I needed a way to de-stress. Mega Man X, Sonic Origins, DKC Trilogy, Metroid games, Pokemon, and Xenoblade Chronicles DE to mentally prepare for 3. 3. The new games I DID play this year took a lot of time. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is definitely my favorite game of the year. It came out in July, and I'm still going back to it to see things that I missed on the first run. It's one of the best games on Switch and one of the best RPGs I've ever played.

It was released on PC's so that Activision Blizzard could get MOAR money.
I believe the PC version is still in "beta" as they call it anyway, despite being playable since launch.

Chocobo GP should get a dishonorable mention. Full prince game and battle passes that you can bypass with real money. I had high hopes for this game.
He didn't want Square to have more entries than Activision Blizzard.
Didn't they stop support for that game recently?
@@sean5038 Square announced the current season will be the last one. The game will still be playable, though. They just won't be releasing new major content. On the plus side, all previous items, including those that had been removed from the shop or were exclusive to certain battle passes, will reportedly be made available to purchase using tickets and coins (currencies that are acquired from gameplay) soon after the current season ends.

Dragon ball the breakers was actually SUPER fun for the first month or so. Then people started learning metas and it because a total chore

Jared's reaction in that Waifu Impact gameplay is beyond priceless.
The "Worst Games" videos are some of my most favorite videos that come out every year. I think the saddest thing about these videos is that, as time goes on, there are fewer obscure/small games making the list, and more games come from some of the largest and most widely beloved companies. When Microsoft bought them, one would hope there would be a massive cleaning house especially since it was in the peak controversy. But nope, doesn't look like it

Who knows? Only time will tell.

it's actually pretty good if you get it on PS4 or Xbox One though, the problem is that game just does not play well at all on the Switch because of it's control scheme.

I got in late into OW1 and poured so many hours into it as well as bought it for the Switch when it was ported.

These aren't the AVGN types of bad games where you can laugh at them, this is all just "battle passes", "servers", "mirco-transactions", "updates", "loot boxes", and other problems that never should've even been a part of video games to begin with.

I'm liking how many more UA-camrs are shouting out JSH for his work.
Man deserves it.
Jared watches Josh Strife Hayes?
Now this is a man of culture.
Still waiting for the worst games of 2023 list🤔
The saddest part is its likely square Enix hasn't learned a damned thing because they announced they haven't given up on nfts and crypto this year.....I'm so close to calling it that square Enix is about to pull Konami on us soon.
Is it a sign of progress or degredation that there aren't any EA games on this list?
Little from column A, little from column B.
Honestly doesn't seem like EA has been all that active this year outside of their yearly roster updates.
i'm seriously so damn happy Jared is still making videos I love your content man keep it up

Despite the stock market having one of worst performances of all time for 2022. EA and Activision are some of the best performance stocks compared to Amazon, Disney, Netflix etc. Seriously look it up its terrifying.
funny thing the first soldier was considered one of the best Battle Royale games for people who played it...but they wanted it on console. and the only way to play it reasonably was essentially turn your phone into a console by paring it with a controller and tv. they really shot themselves in the foot with that sticking to mobile thing because this actually from those who actually played it felt it could be a top contender against the likes of fortnite if they wernt stubborn about it being on phones only. instead they got a dead game.
@@LeynosJehuty And Transformers was a miracle for the budget it had.
Besides that, it doesn't help that activision is still the one heading most of their failures
Someone at Keeps is a fan of Projared and is single handedly making sure we get new episodes frequently by sponsoring him. God speed whoever you are!
TP Medals are Time Patroler Medals, a currency from the xenoverse series, since the two take place in the same canon
Almost spat my soup out during the lasagne economy joke. Love this vid, my favourite Jared of the year discounting NITN. (Even if it came out during New Years Day in my territory).
I look forward to this list every year.
Man, sometimes I forget how good these videos are. Keep it up!
