- Lincoln Park Zoo is ready to roar the names of the three male lion cubs born January 9. The cubs were named in partnership with several Ilchokuti (Ill-cho-koo-tee) or “lion guardians” who are Maasai community members that work in Tanzania alongside Lincoln Park Zoo’s partner, KopeLion.
Based in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area of Tanzania, the Ilchokuti selected the names for the growing pride at the zoo’s Pepper Family Wildlife Center. The names of the lion cubs are Pesho (pe-sho), Sidai (see-dye), and Lomelok (low-mey-lock) which all have their own special meanings in the Maa language.
Pesho translates to an unexpected gift, while Sidai, means good like “good food” or “good lion” and Lomelok means sweet.
Adorable!
How wonderful to see these precious cubs. Keep up the good work Lincoln Park!
Well, THIS just made me cry. Thanks to the Kope Lion community members for bestowing these wonderful names on our 3 new baby lions. And to Zari and Jabari for creating them (and trusting that PiliPili will be a good big brother and Cleo and Hasira will be great aunties to all!)
Loved this! Thank you, Lincoln Park Zoo, for all you do for wildlife.
Please help to protect these sweet lion cubs please!
Oh, well done! Well done on so many levels!!!!!!!

GENIOUS!!! PERFECT TO PARTNER WITH LION CONSERVATION FROM WHERE Lions COmE FROM!!! WONDERFUL NAMES R FROM AFRICAN LANGUAGE!!! I don't think lions names should be American.
Cool maybe in 3 to 4 yrss the males could be moved to other zoos with queens and with similar climates. Then dady lion queen(s) could come into oestrus again. The other males c make new babies with other females and make more babies😍😍
