“The next Grand Prix is in 5 weeks time”
how times have changed
I know, right? Having to recalibrate the entire schedule to fit in every country.
The last time that happened I remember was in 1999, between the first race in Austraila, and the second in Brazil. I think Argentina should've been in between, but was cancelled after the calendar was finalized.
We're still getting a 4 week gap between Hungary and Belgium this year, I'm pretty sure it was usually 5 weeks until very recently.
@@jaredbowhay-pringle1460 I think olympic years it goes to 5 weeks mate, but that's the summer break anyway, 5 weeks between races is very long all the same lol. And it was more common back in the 90s for only having 16 races a year, less races to spread out from the end of February until November.
@@HammyMansell80 Think the same thing happened at the end of 1998 (but can't remember if it was 4 or 5 weeks). There was a big gap between Luxembourg and Japan, and I think it was because there were plans for Kyalami to make a comeback then.
Senna's happiness and pain scream at the end of the race will remain as one of the most emotional and touching moments of the entire Formula 1 history
It showed the world who Ayrton Senna was, a warrior, a fighter, a unbeatable legend
Unbeatable...tell that to Alain and Nigel
@@nicolasgarcia248 in the same car you know he would have won the 92 and 93 championships
I CANNOT BELIEVE!!! AAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH....!!! (Together with the pain he endured while trying to hold the flag/trophy/bottle) a true motorsport hero and shows how the times have changed!
@Wednesday not that many
He lost the 4th gear with 20 laps remaining and then the 3rd and the 5th. 8 laps before the end he had just the 6th gear. All the effort he had to do to drive losing one gear after the other left him with extreme pain in his neck, shoulders and arms. He screams of pain and happines
Yes!!!! We NEED more old races!! Keep it up.
I agree. F1 should stream more old races.
New races are just tune in for the first corner crashes, then everyone gets in a line for a few hours and podium.
@@jsnsk101 Did you even saw Bahrain?
@@cubalibre88 I have F1TV Pro but they should upload more full races ,they only have like 2-3 per season

Senna was a BEAST. Simply the most talented f1 driver ever. Raw power and a LITERALLY INFINITE will to compete, unmatched, even by f1 standards where absolutely everyone is as competitive as can be.
Out of all the historic Grand Prix wins I have seen this is my all time favourite - the sheer pain, grit and determination for Senna to win in his home country against all the odds and the issues he encountered is simply awe inspiring in my view.
The victory scream at the end really does cut deep
I was born in 2005 and Senna was the first F1 driver I ever knew of because of the documentary and he will forever be my all time favorite driver what an icon what a racer what a legend we miss you Senna I might be American but you have to put the Brazilian flag in this🇧🇷🏁🇧🇷🏁🇧🇷
Increadible driver.
53:14 That helicopter pilot getting those angles boii!
Love it. cm from the ground. Like I dont give a fuck, I need to film senna's car moving
I think he was trying to get a autograph.
AIR DRIFT DEJA VU
It’s a Globo helicopter, they have no shame 🤣
That is globo... Or rather it was, the craziest TV channel in Brazil... Nowadays, not so much
I cried at that time and I am crying now....
That's a true hero! Senna forever!!
It's kinda hilarious how the commentators didn't notice Senna wasn't shifting gears anymore. He wasn't using a semi-automatic gearbox like Mansell. It was super obvious from the onboards that he was doing the entirety of the last 3-4 laps in 6th gear. Murray even complained about being shown the onboards not understanding that even the guy picking the camera angles saw what was going on.
I love how even the marshalls are jumping up and down and hugging each other after Senna won.
Murray Walker, V12 engines, Senna, Mansell, Patrese. Yes, this is my favourite F1 era.
I was there. I got an autograph from Senna when he got off the helicopter next to "Senna's S" turn. I watched him raise his arms of victory in the crowd. Then I understood the heroic deed that had been. Yes, those who like F1 and go deep into the details of the problem with the gear, you will see that it was heroic. That's why Senna is so admired by me and especially by most of the drivers.
i literally cried hearing his screaming and celebration. goosebump all the time
49:07 for the emotion as Senna crosses the line

Kenny McCormick if only Murray would have shut the fuck up for 2 seconds so we could hear his radio

Murray and Hunt commentary tho.. 😍
In this race, brazilian commentary was so much better with emotion. Search for: Brazil 1991 Galvão Bueno
@@AdrianFerrari Yeah ... but while Hunt nailed Senna's problem almost right away just by listening to the engine in the curves, Galvao and Reginaldo Leme were saying his tires were shot. Kudos to Hunt for nailing the problem.
Dear Ayrton ... the tracks of the world were no longer enough for you, so you went racing in the stars.
Here in Brazil and worldwide we miss you so much champion...muito obrigado.
🙏🏾❤️
56:45 this moment right here is just awesome. The man is incredibly exhausted, gave everything he had to win the race, and summoned enough energy to raise the trophy
Mansell: ✓ The best aerodynamics ✓ Semi-auto gearbox ✓ More efficient Renault V10 ✓ The best chassis.
And couldn't surpass Senna.
In 92 he beat him cause it was a computer car
Murray Walker and Senna screaming is F1 gold. Doesn't get any better than that
Wrong.
Galvão Bueno, Senna and his music is better 😍
Galvão Bueno: This looks like a job for me-
This race is engraved in my heart. As for Ayrton in this race there might come a time in life, when you, against all odds, have to commit yourself. And if hell breaks loose, you won't back down. This HAS TO BE the time, there is no tomorrow. When I was at rock bottom in my life, this example helped me tremendously, and I am deeply grateful for that.
I watched it live when it happened and his emotion after winning gets to me every single time! Second only to the day that he died.
This is back then when home win was a special thing.

Senna, Mansell, Piquet, Prost... so much talent between them. Legends

Senna 4ver.
This race was marked in the history of formula 1. It is very epic and emotional :')
A piece of F1 history. As we celebrate 1000 races, this is what it's all about. Pure emotion, determination and sacrifice. And there is no other man as representative for this sport as the legendary Ayrton Senna
Some of the most beautiful looking and sounding GP cars ever. From 89 to 95 was a fantastic time for GP racing (among a few other golden eras for sure. it's been a long long time since we've had one of those)
One of Senna's greatest victories, right up there with his first at Estoril in '85. So many things to over come in this first home victory, the gearbox, the rain, the dehydration/cramps, and then to win at home and have Fangio up there on the podium with you. Fantastic.
As FURIOUS as I still was with Senna because of Japan 90 before this race started, I was super happy for him and Brazil when he crossed line in front.
Godspeed Ayrton Senna.
Thank you, @Formula1, for showing us this GP. I could see it with my father. It was a great moment. ❤

I'm from NYC and don't know much about F1 but one thing I know for sure is that I love everything about Ayrton Senna. We share a March 21st birthday and he embodied that Aries energy and passion. Sometimes we're mean but we love like no other. We miss you Legend!
When I heard Murray, instant smile on my face, commentating legend.
It requires a lot of mental strength for him to hold the flag, trophy and champagne on the podium as his shoulder and arm already gone.. Legend!

Bearing in mind that Senna at the time of lifting up his home trophy he was in extreme shoulder pain. That he insisted to lift it up move me to tears, and I am not even a Brazilian.
True legend, rest in peace
A gente chorava, pulava, gritava. Foi muito emociante. I can watch thi podium again, again and over again...
Senna was a legend!
But the funny thing is that it's strange to remember that 5.9s pit was an awesome time.
I'm Brazilian and I have something to say... Thid guy is special spirit, this guy is a legend, this guy is a hero.... (I'm crying right now) this guy didn't race for money, this guy didn't race for fame, this guy raced for the passion of racing and for his people, this guy raced to bring a little bit of happiness to his poor Brazilian people...
Mate, it's pouring with rain, he's on slick tyres, stuck in 6th gear, exhausted, and the pack catching him at his home grand prix. In 1991 if the race was dry and rain came down, they would stop the race, no change to wet tires. He's sticking his hand out to get the race stopped.
Sorry, replying to wrong person, totally agree!

@@DeployTheDRS what do you mean by "complete retro"? Early or late 90s? :D because I prefer late 90s over early

Eternal! Not only for this particular race, but for his entire career and the person he was.
Wonderful, classic F1!! Even the old onboard cameras were great, they really showed the violence of those cars, and the bumps in the tracks. Modern F1 really looks easy in comparison.
The cars are like salvage Horses, hahahahaha
I'm at the office right now seeing that tremendous streaming. GP Brazil 1991... Love that sound of the F1 Engines!!!
If anyone from F1 is reading.... PLEASE DO THIS MORE OFTEN! IT IS WONDERFUL TO BE BACK TO THESE TIMES. I WAS BORN ON 1992 BTW
You can see Senna struggling with the neck as his head is cranked over to the right while navigating the left hand corners.
On anti-clockwise tracks, that wasn’t unusual in the 1980s and 1990s. Watch the ‘82 Brazilian Grand Prix - Piquet had the same problem, in a ground-effect Brabham - GE cars were brutal on the body.
Senna’s additional straining to drive this car with 1 gear for 8 laps would have hurt anyone.
While I don’t doubt he was exhausted how could driving with one gear exhaust you like that? I just don’t understand the mechanics of it. If anything it seems like you’d go slower for sure but it’d be easier because you’re not shifting
@@hotdoglover1573 he had to hold the gear in place.
Fun fact: Senna finished the race with one gear (6th) due to a faulty gearbox.
