Main games are like 4 versions of KOF, Budokai, Koihime, and 3rd Strike. Jokes aside, a big tournament like Evo in Mexico or other Latin America would be awesome.
I just can't believe fighting games are still going strong after almost four decades. It's pretty fucking incredible if you think about it. It's the genrethat simply refuses to die, despite being arguably the most intimidating form of gaming.
Because its a good spectator genre. Even if people are intimidated to play or are unable to get good actually playing them, they still enjoy watching high level matches from their favorite players.
hell yeah, hope you consider doing another primer/casual viewer guide for this when we get closer, loved the last one and its dope to learn about the more niche games.
Getting Matsuda involved is a big confidence boost. While Rick and Markman are def two of the best in the field of FG organizing, it did seem like they struggled with running EvoJ possibly cause they're not locals, and are also involved with Evo US and other events during the year. I think there really is no other man more qualified to run this than Matsuda.
Didn't get through the whole video cuz it's late where I am but I think it's impressive how Majin can be so entertaining when he's higher energy like with the dark souls vids or giving someone what for, and also be engaging and able to hook viewers with generally lower-key videos like this and EVO viewers guide. There's something real compelling about your cadence that makes me wanting to keep coming back. Also it certainly helps that you're so knowledgeable about the scene, especially a part of the scene that's not quite as readily accessible for a lot of westerners or non-JP speakers. Keep up the good work!
I always thought, "It sucks that, even if an old game blows up and gets popular again, it'll never reach its full potential because the money isn't there." A cool one milly yen on 3S can definitely change that.
Bruh, never knew you were from Louisiana too! The LSU jacket blew my mind lmao. Heading to Tokyo for 3rd Strike from Baton Rouge, my g. See ya there! Entering as Y'shtola's Litterbox. I hope that name makes you proud.
I actually didn't know until this video that it's gonna be Mr. Co-Operation Cup himself running EvoJP. Judging from the article and what you say, it seems like it's gonna be in good hands. Here's hoping!
during golden week interesting. Bro they need a monogatari fighting game made by arcsys that doesnt suck & is like a dating sim/mashup similar to persona. Would be an amazing IP.
We'll see if the GAMER MIST makes a return. I remember watching your, sajam, romollas videos immediately after and laughing my ass off. Good luck to all attending.
I was reading the rules for KOF XV for Evo Japan 2024. There was one rule for controller setting which I didn't understand. It says; "Operation other than movement [Weak attack, middle attack, strong attack, special technique, abilities (default: R1), throw (default: L1), guard (default: R2), overhead attack (default: L2)] Cannot be assigned to multiple input mechanisms." What does cannot be assigned to multiple input mechanisms mean in this context? I was wondering if a player over here is allowed to have multiple buttons assigned to a single function as in two buttons for light kicks or light punches as such. Is that allowed ???
Matsuda states he wants to run events with a “player first” mindset. With that being said, is it fair to say they should switch away from ps5 to PC/Steam in the future? Maybe now that they are selling tickets, theyll be able to make that switch in the future…
I was at most going to the australian coast next year for something like BaM 2024 but man if this video doesn't make me want to do both If i do come out i'll try to be less of a Fly on the Wall this time
It's always been weird to me that people will spends 100's of $$$ to go to a tournament to only put 5-10$ into a pot. Also Obama, you doing EN commentary for 3rd Strike? ❤❤❤
Funny that on hindsight if I decided to go to JP the next year instead of this one, probably all my delays woulda lined up perfectly for EVO JP and probably would had a blast. With that said probably I would be by now in 12 layers of burnout and stress. Dont think ill make it to this one but YOU BETCHA im coming back for 2025 and if fate willing, Im gonna stay for the long run. Plus I need to repay you and the crew for the stronks. Never felt more welcome than that tuesday ever in my life. 2025 baybe LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
watching majin obama talk about anything is exciting. here’s an event i have no ability to attend and much difficulty spectating, and i’m captivated as though i was on the committee making all these changes
Do you think Coop Cup doesn't answer your final question of, "when is there going to be an event all the Japanese sub-communities can rally around and be proud of?" Or is that more of a regional thing?

First SF6 EVO Japan... Yeah, it's gonna be huge. And imagine the hype from the new folks watching the 3s tournament.

Nice to see JP websites haven't changed since I visited. Big dog you gotta get adblock
Matsuda showing us his strong gamer back and said "leave it to me"
A million yen on 3rd strike in 2024 was not on my bingo list
hoping to see 3s get a popularity boost this coming year
Million yen for Turd Strike is crazy. I'm excited!
Bruh, never knew you were from Louisiana too! The LSU jacket blew my mind lmao.

Lol. Say what's up when ya get here
It's cool seeing it come together like this
I love seeing fighting games get bigger
Im hype, actually gonna be my first EVO Japan me and my friend are going to

i wonder if deshiken and the kyushu crew are going to show up.
koudai told me they jokingly call kyushu shura no kuni.

Isn’t there a character in Monogatari that’s literally Taokaka?
That would be good, but Nisio Isin would need to have arcsys on a leash.
@@wanderingslackeri think you mean rainy devil
Modern Arcsys sucks though

No comment. There is more to the gamer mist than meets the eye
I won’t be able to afford going to evo, but I’m 100% going to save up next year to go to Evo Japan 2025
I am always down to watch high level 3S! Let’s gooo~!!!
… is that the IHOP font?!

There is no on site commentary in English at evo japan anymore. I will likely be doing interviews and filming cosplayers
No melty is kinda disappointing, but I get it.

It's an intercom for the front door...dumb dumb
I want Soul Calibur 7 announcement
3rd strike is cool to see, but melty bros... :(
Uni replaced us :(
Also no dragon ball :(
Uni for frenchbread i guess. Only capcom got 2 games so it's reasonable.
And the dollar is strong right now, Americans!
Matsuda is the fucking goat
Ariake gym is huge, it’s not that close to Tokyo proper but yea better than Chiba. It’s like 50 mins from Shibuya with too many transfers

It does but it's a 1 game event that caters to that 1 game. Not the same as a big event hosting multiple titles
@@doogies Somehow I never realized Coop cup is a 1 game event LOL. My bad. Thanks for the answer!
Vampbitme is still a thing?
Need to respect the OGs.
3rd strike? Ah hell yeah
While I'm super excited to see 3S in the main lineup, not having VF5 in there is a big disappointment, to me at least.
? it was there last year lol. its a rotating slot...cmon man.
No it aint no BBCF GRAAAGHH
Another year melee has been vetoed

It's Japan, of course melee was vetoed
it was never not vetoed in japan dude
